The George Hotel  

We travelled as a group going to a Christening and we had a very large family room in The Mews. The room was fabulous and very spacious with a separate twin bedroom as well as a very large Kingsize bed. The gardens were beautiful. After our evening meal the staff brought us our desserts to our room, very attentive staff.

Enjoyed our stay I stayed with my husband and elderly father rooms were comfortable well equipped and warm. The only problem was that in the next room was a guest with a dog which yapped quite a bit. When we mentioned this to the hotel they said next time to ask for an upstairs room as they didnt put dogs upstairs. Ok if you are able bodied and can manage the stairs. Otherwise very pleasant and would stay again but would make sure we were away from dogs.

The hotel was excellent value for money. The bar meal that I had was good and breakfast was even better!. The room I had was very large, as they put me in a family room. The hotel garden runs down to the river and the view from the dining room is superb. I will be returning there with the rest of the family for a weekend break.

Nothing at all.

Very comfortable room, well furnished with all facilities, ie tv/courtesy tray. Excellent ensuite - powerful shower with free toiletries and very clean. Lovely breakfast - great choice of fruit/cereal and vegetarian cooked option available too. Also morning newspapers available - a very relaxing start to the day! We also dined in the restaurant and can recommend the excellent fish pie and sausages & mash main courses!

The dining room was a bit chilly, especially the tables by the window where there was a draught coming through - but it was mid-January so probably ok most of the time.

Really enjoyed ourselves, food was great, staff - very, very accomodating, room pleasant, love the ambiance of the pub itself.....

We attended for the Hunt Ball and the evening was very enjoyable, the food was exceptional.

Was disappointed that the rooms were only half updated the towels were stained the shower very poor and the pull switches for the lights rather dated.

The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food was of excellent standard. Although expensive, the evening meal was beautifully presented and very enjoyable. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff were very friendly.

On arrival, it would have been useful had the staff informed me of the location of the restaurant for evening meals and breakfast together with meal times. There was no introductory welcome, I had to ask questions. The service in the restaurant for our evening meal was very slow even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. However, it was worth waiting for .... very tasty!

We enjoyed our stay very much staff/room/location very good,would not have any hesitation in returning in the future. Thank you.

We loved the quiet, countryside location with views of the river from our room and the breakfast table. The hotel retains its period charms whilst offering excellent service and, above all, a superb menu.
