Staff in restaurant addressed us by name and made us very welcome. Nice touch. Breakfast superb. Dinner an experience.
amazing facilities and lovely surroundings
We were seated in the wing of the main dining room for our evening dinner. In this area, you felt quite removed, i.e. the experience and atmosphere was quite different to that which was on offer within the main room. the food was still excellent, but they should have explained at booking that we would be seated well away from the main room. My assumption at the time was: we booked late and we stayed as part of a much cheap deal. Whatever the reason, and maybe I'm paranoid, but I had to look at a blank wall and an emergency exit sign, where as everyone else was looking at a grand piano along with hundreds of other happy dinners.
Beautiful room. Fabulous food and amazing spa. Located in some of the most stunning scenery you will ever see.
Lovely hotel, very comfortable, great staff, comfortable bed. Loved the clay pigeon shooting. Really enjoyed The Strathearn Restaurant.
Hotel completely full, did not like queuing at reception to get into hotel, queuing for breakfast. Literally hundreds of people at breakfast. Deseo restaurant was very noisy on the Saturday evening and our bedroom was nice but was inward facing, darkly decorated with not too much light coming in the window.
The outdoor jacuzzi...Andrew Fairlie restaurant and staff..the personal touches
The rooms are large and comfortable, the bathrooms are luxurious, the staff are always professional and courteous, the Spa is wonderful, the bar is calming, the restaurants vary from good to outstanding, the grounds are pleasant and there is loads to do if you want to. It was a totally chilled 2 nights for us at the hotel and I hope to go back some time.
Excellent hotel to relax and enjoy the outdoors of Scotland. Traditional and luxurious in the same time. Many activities can be done like cycling, off-road driving, jogging, shooting, golf, massage, spa, indoor swimming pools .... Etc.
Complimentary water and toilet soap was not provided every day.
although it is quite expensive I think it is excellent value for money. the room, staff, food, pool and location could not be faulted.
Ambiance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Luxurious leisure facilities.
Wine unnecessarily expensive.
Rooms were luxurious (we had the classic room). Service was wonderful and beautiful grounds.
Service, food quality, sports facilities all excellent.
Room was far too hot. Even with heating off and windows open. In mid-October too. Maybe not all, but some rooms definately need air conditioning.
New pool is out of this world I loved it
Dining room could do with a bit more upgrade although the old world charm is comforting
Friendly staff and wonderful facilities.
Large luxury rooms, lovely staff, amazing facilities, waaw restaurants...
We had a lovely suite with lounge. We were very lazy having breakfast in the room which was always spot on. Very laid back service which we prefer and not stuffy at all..All restaurants were very good with the Deseo and Dormy very good value
The main bar was always solid at lunch for the obligatory prebooked afternoon teas, this meant that if you wanted a beer and there were not any tables it was a bit of a squeeze at the bar which made for a feeling of being in the way. So we had to use Deseo instead.
Food and facilities. Service - personal and professional without being stuffy. The staff are all obviously committed and proud to work at Gleneagles - and it shines through.
Room was only average - clean, tidy, quiet and well-serviced, but decor is pretty dated. Drink prices were shocking - even for a world class resort
The whole ambiance of the hotel. Staff are so friendly and attentive nothing is ever too much bother. Excellent restaurants and facilities.
There is nothing to not like.
Of course the setting and the room
Service was patchy. Went for lunch at the bar and were told there were no tables so were offered bar stalls which we accepted. Literally seconds afterwards a different waitress came along and asked us if we would prefer a table, we were then given a bowl of stale crisp. At dinner we asked the waiter for olive oil and he did not bring it. At breakfast we requested brown toast to be told there was none available, the waitress came with white. Coffee and tea were delivered but no teaspoons. The table did not have cutlery and we had to ask for it and it took ages to come. We asked twice to get the spoons. We the saw others receiving brown toast and had to request it. Even though this is Gleneagles we would not expect to pay £9 for a small glass of house white wine. In the scheme of things small details, but in such a splendid location and at a price it is often the detail that matters.
Location; scenery and staff.Breakfast good.
Cuisine disappointing compared to similar establishments e.g Martin Wishart in Leith.
It all a part from the room temperature it was to warm
The service from staff was incredible. We happened to mention it was our anniversary and we got a complimentary bottle of champagne delivered to our upgraded room! The facilities were also fantastic. Great pool, steam room and sauna. Food was delicious.
Nothing. Every was perfect.
Everything apart from ....
The room was very hot even with the window open and the fan on. I did request firm pillows but ones provided were too soft for me, so a bit of a sore neck in the morning.
Room too hot
On being shown to our table for dinner we were taken to the furthest part of the conservatory. Completely on our own. We asked to be moved and this was done immediately. But shy put us there in the first place?
Staff were more than willing to meet any request and could not be happier to help. Loved it!
