Food and facilities. Service - personal and professional without being stuffy. The staff are all obviously committed and proud to work at Gleneagles - and it shines through.
Room was only average - clean, tidy, quiet and well-serviced, but decor is pretty dated. Drink prices were shocking - even for a world class resort
The whole ambiance of the hotel. Staff are so friendly and attentive nothing is ever too much bother. Excellent restaurants and facilities.
There is nothing to not like.
Of course the setting and the room
Service was patchy. Went for lunch at the bar and were told there were no tables so were offered bar stalls which we accepted. Literally seconds afterwards a different waitress came along and asked us if we would prefer a table, we were then given a bowl of stale crisp. At dinner we asked the waiter for olive oil and he did not bring it. At breakfast we requested brown toast to be told there was none available, the waitress came with white. Coffee and tea were delivered but no teaspoons. The table did not have cutlery and we had to ask for it and it took ages to come. We asked twice to get the spoons. We the saw others receiving brown toast and had to request it. Even though this is Gleneagles we would not expect to pay £9 for a small glass of house white wine. In the scheme of things small details, but in such a splendid location and at a price it is often the detail that matters.
Location; scenery and staff.Breakfast good.
Cuisine disappointing compared to similar establishments e.g Martin Wishart in Leith.
It all a part from the room temperature it was to warm
The service from staff was incredible. We happened to mention it was our anniversary and we got a complimentary bottle of champagne delivered to our upgraded room! The facilities were also fantastic. Great pool, steam room and sauna. Food was delicious.
Nothing. Every was perfect.
Everything apart from ....
The room was very hot even with the window open and the fan on. I did request firm pillows but ones provided were too soft for me, so a bit of a sore neck in the morning.
Room too hot
On being shown to our table for dinner we were taken to the furthest part of the conservatory. Completely on our own. We asked to be moved and this was done immediately. But shy put us there in the first place?
Staff were more than willing to meet any request and could not be happier to help. Loved it!
The room 504 was beautiful in the extension. Staff were very attentive and beautiful breakfast
The attention to detail with the decor and furnishings. The emphasis on quality and comfort. Polite and attentive staff in the bar and resturaunts.
By contrast to the evening meal service which was excellent the breakfast staff were slow and less than responsive.
Excellent service friendly not overbearing staff
Over bath shower difficult to climb into
Booked for our anniversary and was nicely surprised with a bottle of chilled champagne in our room.
Booked a luxury king room with view and we got a luxury room with view but bed consisted of two single mattresses put together under king size sheets and bed wasn't very comfortable.
The staff and location were outstanding, the food was amazing but overpriced
The bed wasn't comfortable, really poor sleep. The spa was good but at the end I my treatment, I felt very rushed.
My home area, its beautiful. The grandeur of the hotel. Shops are good. Food good to adequate. Room service was well executed. Gardens and grounds immaculate.
Service was far too slow in most areas especially Braids Coffee bar where the service is dire. Receptionists take too long checking guests in and ont. One asked so many questions at check in that ought to have been handled later by guest services or directly with the restaurants. This caused long delays. We have been staying there for over twenty five years and the service and allowing casual clothes to be worn in The Strathern for dinner is a retrograde step. We have commented on this for many years now. There are plenty of eating places where one can be casually dressed why spoil the main restaurant for evening service. Try to ensure staff can at least engage in English, the hotel is in Scotland not eastern Europe! I am 53 and not some old foggy but standards are not as high as they were in the late eighties/early nineties.
The room was absolutely beautiful and the setting was spectacular.
All the food we had, both room service and breakfast, while beautifully presented was quite cold.
Facilities were superb and excellent dining options with very attentive staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff plus since we were staying midweek we were able to attend a cookery session at The Deseo restaurant and try some delicious beef dishes.
Our standard double room was very small. My husband is over 6 foot and struggled to lie straight in the bed. We felt we paid a lot of money and didn't see all the value in it reflected in the room
The best hotel in Scotland The staff were helpful and happy. The room/bathroom was great. The French/Scottish restaurant was amazing " great place to treat your self and be relaxed
-The activity was full, you have to book early. -Leaving the hotel
staff were all very friendly and very helpful all restaurants we great however Andrew Fairlies was awesome
Fantastic service, comfortable surroundings, wonderful food. Health club and pools are good too.
Waiting to check in, only two places at the reception desk. The cost, it's very expensive but great for a treat.
The bedroom/ en suite was excellent size and extremely comfortable.
The room as advertised as having a view which was very limited.
Spa and leisure
drinks very expensive
