Possibly the most remote B&B in central Dartmoor, the secluded Wydemeet has footpaths in every direction from the garden gate.
Score from 27 reviews Exceptional
Built around the famous South Zeal Menhir Standing Stone, this 12th-century inn is set in its own monastery gardens in a pretty Devonshire village.
Score from 123 reviews Superb
excellent location, good food, friendly staff
The old building, the friendly & helpful staff, the good food, the general ambience.
The bathroom was like in a little Castle. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice and bright colors in the room "Malve". Would recomand your nice Place to my friends.
Room size, cleanliness, staff, food, location... Fully enjoyed the stay, and will certainly go back for more...
The staff and the food were excellent. Good beer and accommodation. A good mix of locals and travellers who always engage in conversation.
My wife says the bedroom lighting was insufficient to read in bed and she found the shower tricky. Small points!
The food and staff were superb, as well as the location in the centre of this beautiful and unique village.
Whilst right on one of the main streets was handy it was easy for people passing to look in.
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good.
In the entrance hall are two very dirtv patterned rugs which give a very bad first impression. The decor is dark and very old fashioned. The whole place is very cluttered with ornaments, mirrors, pictures etc which look as if someone had stood at the door and thrown everything inside each room.
Location, Warm feel downstairs, nicely appointed bedrooms, cleanliness, generally very comfortable. Breakfast very acceptable. Good value for money.
Bed too hard for my taste and pillows really thin, poorly fitting sash windows - noisy and windy all night
Lovely breakfast, bed a bit small but very cosy! Great location. No parking but a car park nearby at very reasonable rates.
Bed a bit small
The building is really quaint. The room was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hotel in the centre of a charming village, beautiful natural surroundings, friendly and helpful staff.
Very uncomfortable “grandmother” bed; insufficient illumination in the room; exiguous bathroom; shower difficult to use.
Location good, staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was reasonable.
Bed was rather uncomfortable and the room was quite noisy in the evening as it was next to the kitchen. Shower was not functioning properly.
Pretty much everything...lovely comfy room, good ale, good food, lovely village. nice friendly staff....can't fault it !
nice people no bla bla excellent food, the best I ate in England nice village
beds not 100% new, but ok
We had a great stay in this lovely B&B close to the town. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and contacted us prior to our stay about parking permits and other items. The rooms were comfortable and clean and were fully equiped for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was beautifully prepared and delicious. Top marks to the owners we had a great time.
Staff very helpful nothing to much trouble Food very good very clean throughout
Bed hard no onsite parking
country ambiance was great
The friendly atmosphere, pleasant and attentive staff.
The narrow (twin) beds and, above all, the church clock directly opposite our room, very loudly striking every hour 24/7. Even earplugs, provided by our hostess, did little to help us get some sleep!
Location Facilities People Food ( fantastic breakfast )
Sat nav took us through narrow single track roads. There is a better route!!
Food, the staff, the relaxed atmosphere
Hard bed, church bells chiming outside all night. Room not superior as advertised.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely
