Comfortable room. Good good. Beautiful setting
Service was a bit disappointing particularly at breakfast. We were asked to move tables even though we had started eating. Bedding being changed for next guests before we had checked out
Very nice hotel, last minute booking, staff were very pleasant and welcoming. I had a very early start and the manager kindly put breakfast on for me earlier than normal. Lovely room and stay, highly recommended.
Service at breakfast unobtrusive but very prompt. Always someone in the breakfast room to react to emerging needs. Conversation genuine, not formulaic. Bedmaking cleverly linked to declaration of room at breakfast order point.
Excellent restaurant, great location, clean rooms, and overall a very nice stay. I wish I had booked an extra night as I would have liked to try dinner, as the menu looked excellent.
A little understaffed, sometimes there is nobody in the reception area and no service staff around for several minutes, which means standing around waiting. Not a major gripe though, just a minor annoyance.
The location, the lounges, the gardens, the views, the food everything about it
There was nothing to dislike !
the setting the public rooms the ease of parking some of the rooms the dining ambiance the cleanliness the food
some of the bedrooms are dark the staff attitude was often arrogant and disinterested
It was exactly as described on the web,for once living up to the hype!
I can honestly say absolutely nothing.....( how often have i thought that? )
We stayed in the hotel lodge and the room was fabulous. We also thought that the quality of the food was very good. Great value for money.
Quality food , very comfortable hotel , in scenic location
food, grounds, room, outlook
No English staff. 2 of waitresses had little English and communicating was frustrating
A very comfortable hotel in a superb location. Beautiful grounds with great views. Delicious food, served by very pleasant and attentive staff. We would recommend this popular Hotel to anyone, for a relaxing break.
We were in the lodge and would prefer a room in the main building. The sloping ceiling in the room and small window made it rather dark. The bathroom was quite cramped. Minor details in an otherwise great experience.
Hotel is run very efficiently. Excellent staff. Restaurant first class.
could not fault this hotel. would definitely go back
Large comfortable lounges but with lots of guests happily talking together.
set in lovely scenery and easy access to village.
lots of elderly guests and having dinner all at one sitting like a holiday camp.
Food was top class with a wonderful view from the dining room
The hotel is in an excellent position in our favourite Lakes location with superb gardens and terrific views. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient.
The a la carte menu was limited.
very nice location, nice staff and very helpful, would certainly go back again
The environment is casually elegant and very inviting. The staff is cordial and helpful. And the room, although not a suite, somehow felt like a small apartment. The breakfast was nice and the views amazing. It is off the main street so there is no traffic noise, yet only a 5 minute walk to browse all the shops and eateries. I truly wish we had stayed two nights rather than just one!
Wi fi is difficult in the rural regions of England. The hotel offers it in the public areas but not the rooms. A small inconvenience that they are working to correct. In the meantime, the public areas are a lovely and relaxing place to sit and read the paper, review emails, or enjoy that extra cup of tea.
Lovely dining room, good food and excellent staff
lovely location and good access to Grasmere village
Fantastic location, nice clean room. Lovely lounge & dining area with lots of comfortable seats.
Unable to get a sandwich at 16.00 hrs in the afternoon . Very bad for a hotel of this standard & cost. No bottles of water in the room. Had a very nice bottle of wine on the first night, chose it again on the second night to be told they had run out. When the canapés came around @ 19.15, ( served between 19.00 - 19.30) there were only 2 left on the tray, I asked if they had anymore and was told no, that there was no more.
No vegetarian sausages and when we asked to fill our flask with coffee it cost £6.40, bit pricy
