Nice location - very pretty village Good fish and chips
Very expensive - its December! Room tiny compared to photo. Expensive fish and chips!
Lovely setting. Snug pub with fantastic food and friendly pleasant staff. The village of Newport is extremely picturesque and very tranquil. We will definitely return.
Food, rooms, location, bar, breakfast
We had to go home!
nice atmosphere. Spacious room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Nice bar great food.
could have done with more seating in room. Only one chair (apart from dressing table stool) A DVD player would be good (maybe built in to TV not expensive these days)
Food is terrific Staff were very good Nice to have parking on site
Bed and pillows like rock Shower could only be used at half pressure or it caused a flood If you open the window there is confidential humming from a giant fridge. Triple room was cramped for two a and had many little issues.
Always please with our stay.
Two room family room a bonus. Well decorated and modern rooms and restaurant and contrasting homely pub.
Have stayed at the Golden Lion before and we were really impressed at the levels of efficiency. We arrived and had a small issue with the allocated room, this was dealt with immediately and very professionally, although we had arrived 2 hrs before check in time, other Hotels could learn from this. The food, cleanliness and staff were exceptional, special thanks to Magda who dealt with the room issue very professionally and with a sense of humour. Big thanks to everyone at the Golden Lion for a very relaxed stay, we will be back.
Drinks a bit expensive, other than that nothing.
Excellent evening meal Good choice at breakfast Lovely power shower
Room not huge but comfortable Wifi not available in bedroom
Very good food & service.
The hard pillows! Asked for softer ones but none available.
The atmosphere was relaxed but really efficient. The staff that we encountered knew just what we want to know and this came over in a cool and relaxed manner. The hotel is smart without being starchy, very clean but welcoming and relaxed.
There were two points The tap and the shower were not easy to handle. The tap had a jerky operator and it was easy to regulate the flow and temperature. The shower is controlled by two rotary knobs. Neither was labeled as to function and regulation. This resulted in a very hot shower with quite a strong pressure. This seemed so uncharacteristic for the hotel where every thing else was first class.
Ideal location close to coastal walks other pubs and resturants and public transport. Room was spotless and pub busy and friendly. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather, blue skies and high temperatures.
Food,room,staff,food,decor,cleanliness,did I mention the food?
Car park on the small side, but no real problem.
Menu was very good for a pub. Quality of food, presentation of dishes, and level of service and locally sourced ingredients far exceeded expectations! Superior quality furniture
Very friendly staff ,excellent breakfast, superb food in restaurant, very efficient service
Towels not changed regularly enough,no biscuits, toiletries not topped up daily.
Very convenient location on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Modern, comfortable rooms and breakfast area in an extension to the old Inn.
The restaurant is very popular and had been booked up weeks in advance by those in the know. The only alternative for us was the bar. Normally, I would not find this a problem but here the experience was awful. The only table we could find was beside a pool table around which were congregated about a dozen, unsupervised, young children. A juke box was playing rhythmic, tuneless music loudly and adults were feeding money to children to keep it topped up. Because of the music, other customers in the bar had to raise their voices adding to the cacophony. No environment in which to enjoy food.
Staff extremely friendly, food was excellent and very good value for money, very cosy atmosphere in both bar and restaurant.
Very uncomfortable pillows.
Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Comfortable place to stay with a warm welcome.
Great family room, we wish this was standard in all hotels. Good laundrette across the road. Lovely, would recommend it.
