Noisy bathroom from bedroom next door
The hotel was well placed, close to the footpath, reasonably priced and good food. Location was quiet so no problem having an early night and an early start.
The bathroom fans and the plumbing were really noisy.
food excellent! friendly people made us feel at home.will stay again when in the area. (loved the sausage)
nothing to dislike
All of the stay, easy to find very warm welcome, comfortable facilities, excellent food and we were made to feel very welcome and special.
none of it
Staff friendly and helpfull. I had very early start so instead of breakfast they were quite willing to prepare A packed lunch. Free broadband in bar. Evening meal was good pub food. For me good value for money
Waking very eary the lights in the stairs were switched off. And I did not know where the light switch was. Had to use my phone to find my way about in the dark.
parking was good. staff made a good efort to help.
the price for a family was a little high, sausages could be much better at breakfast. better TV may be wall mounted then loose some bedroom furnature which was not needed a bit cramped.
Nice breakfast, good location just off A483. Tranquil environment and was great to have a restaurant & bar in the hotel.
it suits for passing by, with no ambitions, very friendly Staff owner plays live Jazz with his friends
old fashined, need urgend renovating
Easy to find, clean. Helpful staff and very pleasant to deal with. Good food, probably better than you might expect. Excellent cooked breakfast
Bathroom was small and a little awkward to use. Walls were very thin. And although it did not affect me it does seem as previous people have mentioned that even if you stay for more than one night you cannot get access to your room between 10 and 4!
homely feel, very good food, great evening meal, and a good breakfast, lots of choice, free band in the bar at night time, very good rock band, bought cd,
Quiet location. Good home cooked food. Comfy beds. Kind and helpful hosts. Reasonably priced. A big thank you Karen and Rob.
Everything suited us fine.
Friendly staff and great breakfast!
No draught beer!
The location was convenient for our needs. The welcome was friendly, as were the locals in the bar. The evening meal was traditional British pub grub, steak pie, lasagne etc, perfectly acceptable. Well cooked and served hot. The breakfast provided was of a good standard. Plenty of parking available.
The Golden Lion is an old coaching inn. It's rather old fashioned but the room rate was extremely good value I have to say... I would stay there again the next time I am in the area.
En suite was poor, cramped, and generally questionable. Hot water in the basin did not work satisfatorily. The shower worked well but was VERY cramped and the shower head kept falling down. At £40 per night per person (shared room) it was expensive. No breakfast after 8.30!!
Traditional house, lots of character. Lovely small bar, fabulous breakfast, peaceful rural setting. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great night sleep and lovely breakfast , excellent !
This is lovely pub with nice accommodation and friendly service well located to visit Powis Castle. Poems Castle would have to be on of the greatest gardens in the UK.
It was all just beautiful.
Friendly & helpful staff & owner. Clean & tidy. Excellent food.
Made very welcome room was good value for money staff very friendley
Hotel owners very friendly & nice food, but that is it!!
Rooms are very outdated, didn't have the room I booked,no proper hot water in the bathroom & was very small you struggle to move without catching yourself on anything in there, shower leaked, extractor fan extremely noisy & toilet flush too,no toilet roll put in the room, cobwebs & dust in room, poor furniture in rooms falling apart, would not stay there again very poor quality for money
Food, friendly staff, very good value for money, flexibility
Very friendly and kind welcome - nothing was too much trouble. Cooked breakfast was lovely, beds very comfortable.
the accommodation was very dated and needs to be updated especially the bed, the noise from the pipes was unbearable. where was the music???
The breakfast is very good & could not be faulted.
Being greeted by a dog on arrival. The bar lacks atmosphere & although open for residents only is closed by the proprietors at their convenience.
