The Golden Lion Hotel  

Very attentive staff. Lovely home cooked food that was well presented and tasty. Clean and comfortable. Owners more than willing to make our stay comfortable. The live music was an unexpected added bonus!

The staff and the locals were very friendly and l did not feel as though l would spend the evening on my own. The breakfast was lovely and freshly made. I would stay there again.

There was nothing to dislike. The rooms were basic but very clean. I would highly recommend it.

The Hotel was very clean and the food was good value & very tasty. The room was clean and warm, we only stayed 1 night on our way to Aberystwyth but it was very good value.

The bar empty apart from the guests staying and very cold which was in direct contrast to the bedrooms. Because the bar was so uninviting, we went back to our rooms after dinner. Also, the plumbing was very noisy during the night, part of it was due to another guest leaving a tap running.

The room was warm and very clean breakfast was excellent and the owners very accommodating.

Bathroom although very clean was very small and very noisey. The reception area stank of old cooking fat which made us think we had made a mistake booking the place. Thankfully we were pleasantly surprised as the rest was ok but I would not pay £70 to stay there again. £50 would be ok

Nothing springs to mind - would happily revisit

Karen and Rob were very friendly and helpful as were the locals that I met. The home cooked food was excellent and they have real ale, Karen even made up a packed lunch (nothing was too much trouble). No traffic noise as there is a new by-pass around the village. Will definitely go back.

the hotel was clean and tidy and the staff very welcoming. However, we found the hotel to be in urgent need of upgrading. The rooms and bathrooms were very old fashioned and had the noisiest plumbing we have ever heard. On the plus side the food was very good. The potential is great.

The location to relatives I was visiting and the breakfast was good.

I was dissapointed in the chalet style accommodation as I was expecting a hotel room and not a self catering facility - this was what I booked. It was cold, very basic and cramped and not worth the money paid. If I had been booked in for more than one night then I would have complained. Also I was not happy about the check out time being only up to 10 o'clock.

Our Stay at the Golden Lion Hotel was one of the best short breaks we have ever had. The owners were lovely, the rooms really comfortable and clean and all the home cooked meals delicious. The icing on the cake were the jamming sessions, acoustic music on monday a fantastic blues night on the tuesday and jazz on the wednesday. We will definately be visiting again very soon.

Very friendly chatty owners, made us feel very welcome. Food in the evening was plentiful fresh and home cooked...delicious as was breakfast the next day. Although a pub it was very quiet, being a Thursday night, only a couple of locals called in so there was little "atmosphere". Apparently earlier in the week the owner holds guitar playing sessions but we missed this. Room was at the top of the house with views of the countryside from the window, bed comfortable and bathroom small but functional. Only complaint was a squeaky door hinge to the bathroom and as the owners were told I am sure this has now been rectified.

The location was ideal for our needs. There wasnt alot of choice for food but what we had was very good.The rooms were spacious and clean.

The pub itself could do with brightening up as it was very dull.The young waiter kept joining in with our conversation which at times i thought was quite rude and he had a tendancy to lean accross people when serving food.The telly didnt work in the bar so i went upstairs to watch the football leaving my wife and friends on their own.

The friendly ambience, nothing was too much trouble and the host was most helpful about directions to other places of interest
