There was nothing to complain about.
This is a comfortable hotel, right in the centre of town, with the best beds we've seen in dozens of hotels. The staff were always courteous, always helpful, always smiling. Good restaurant in the hotel for dinners and first rate breakfasts.

We had dinner and the food was just warm but the breakfast was really good. The showeroom was tiny and really out dated with hardly any water coming from the shower
our dogs were allowed to sit with us when we had our meals in the bar

In some of the areas upstairs a few cooking odours can linger. And the bedroom/bathroom furnishings are just perhaps getting to the point where they would benefit from being updated. Everything was OK but not as nice as the downstairs - and perhaps the price - would lead you to expect.
The bar and restaurant areas are the epitome of English country hotel comfort and cosiness. Big fireplace, comfortable chairs, a fine selection of ales - plus a lovely beer garden - it wants for nothing.

Overpriced room, did not look like the one I looked at on the web site. Four stars for this hotel is questionable, our room, number 8, certainly wasn't!
Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Food - location - friendly staff

I didn't give full marks for location simply because there is no parking at the hotel, a little unfair as it is a small historic market town and there is not much they can do about it. Sometimes the restaurant staff were overworked making service a little slow.
A good friendly welcome on arrival, nice airy room. Good menu in the restaurant, lovely open fire and nice range of real ale in the bar. Settle and the surrounding area speaks for itself.

The breakfast was very 'average'.friendly pub with rooms
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The building itself - old, squeaky stairs, I even floors but well looked after.

Staff super friendly and helpful, room very comfortable, great location, and breakfast was very good

We were given room 4 which I am sorry to say has the noise from the extractor units situated outside the bedroom roaring away at midnight and than starting up a again at 6.00 meant minimal sleep. It is clearly not acceptable to be given such a room. On reviewing the other guest comments at the hotel it was very clear that a lot of other people shared our issues.

Room was quite dusty, there were a few hairs in the bed and no carpark so had to follow an awkward parking regieme to ensure we had over night parking.
Breakfast was good, and Hotel was in a central location.
April 2, 2015
Bathroom was small and the shower cubicle very small.
Great welcoming atmosphere, food was excellent. Very comfortable beds especially, after a long day out on the hills.

There is nothing bad about this hotel. In our opinion it was brilliant
The food in the evening and breakfast was FANTASTIC. My husband had the settle steak pudding and I had the pulled pork burger. Our daughters had a mini picnic board. All were delicious and all local produce. They had a folk band playing while we ate and a fabulous log burner. A perfect end to a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales.
