Location, free upgrade to 4 poster bed room, full English breakfast & accoustic guitar singer!
This pub would benefit from a proper open log fire with comfy chairs instead of all the dining tables. We would have dined here if there had been an open fire instead of going across the road.
Well situated in Burford town
No wifi in room, most of the channels on the tv didn't work. Quite noisy from the pub as smokers area by rooms
Located on the High Street with its shops and pubs. It has a great bar with sports channels. Room was a good size and very clean. Has a small car park round the back.
Warm room, private entrance, good breakfast.
Refurbishment does not seem complete. Wardrobe and units seem basic cheap quality. Electrics via extension leads are surely not the finished standards. Bath bouncy seems to have separated from base.
The room we had was big and comfortable. A 4 Poster bed, which was cosy. What we liked was the history and age of the Building. The decor and the style was in keeping with the age. The Breakfast (full English) was perfectly cooked and presented. The dining area was unique in design and comfortable. Would definately call back!
The look of the outside of the building!
The owners miserable attitude, a poor breakfast, with a cold cup of tea. Noisy room due what sounded like a boiler going of intermittently all night long!
Burford lovely town hotel good location
The food in the restaurant is superb and good value - don't leave without eating here, the room was quiet an although the bathroom was next door it was modern and nice to use.
The matress was way past it's best - not a very comfortable nights sleep. The shower could be better.
location off road parking
member of staff serving food wearing same clothing three days running (OWN CLOTHES NOT UNIFORM) room left unlocked by cleaner after pretty poor attempt at cleaning, could be a nice place if somebody cared.
Good food and service, room was large
Car park was full
Conveniently located. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Good breakfast.
Bathroom in need of refurbishment. Traffic noise through the night, our room was on the high street side.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Made the stay better. The breakfast was amazing, really tasty, fresh and high quality produce too!
I had booked a double room with en-suite bathroom, we received a double room with a 'private bathroom', which you had to exit the bedroom and walk down the corridor a few paces to access the bathroom. Not something you want to do in the middle of the night! The heating in the bathroom was not working, so it was FREEZING in there first thing in the morning, plus the shower over the bath was feeble to say the least. The mattress on the bed was old, and as a result rather than 'roll together' it almost folded in half altogether when we got into it. The worst thing for me personally was the fact the the room was directly above the pub's smoking area, which meant two things, firstly the room smelt of cigarette smoke, as it had drifted through the window frames, and impregnated the soft furnishings and room in general. Secondly, there were noisy conversations from the pub's patrons whilst they were smoking, not great. In my opinion the property has massive potential, it's in a great location, and is stunning from the outside, but I'm sorry to say that it needs some serious TLC on the inside to encourage me to stay here again.
Good central location in beautiful Cotswold village setting. Good food in restaurant including excellent full English breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Limited parking spaces so pays to check in early. Small but pleasant room with 4 poster bed but mattress not at all comfortable! Inadequate lighting in bathroom. Nice old building but feels desperately in need of a makeover. Overpriced for what it is at the moment. Worst aspect of Saturday night stay was unnecessarily loud live band next to restaurant which spoilt the evening and made conversation impossible so worth checking before booking!
staff breakfast entertainment
bed a bit hard
Location Room size
Breakfast was very good. The pub is good.
Very noisy on Saturday night until 1:30 am. The room was very dated. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower needs replacing.
It was OK for one night
Food good especially breakfast
My daughter said she felt the hotel required a bit of love and tlc ...I agree
Staff were very friendly, courteous and made you feel welcome. Would recommend and will use again when in the area.
Slight mix up with the booking agency meant my room had not been prepared, though this was quickly sorted. Breakfast is too late for business users.
Location good.Breakfast was good, bed comfortable , towels and bed linen clean, most staff good.
Private bathroom is along the corridor - not ensuite. Upgrade to ensuite we were told was £5 then this appeared as £10 on bill. Told we got it wrong by one disinterested member of staff. Shower cubicle looked dirty and in need of replacing
The building is interesting, the food is well prepared and the staff although over-stretched worked hard
The limited car parking; I'd suggest directions to the nearest car park are included
Staff not helping elderly guests with luggage. Extremely loud music - vibration could be felt through mattress and pillows. Not what one goes to the Cotswolds to hear. Not good quality food at breakfast
Location was the top reason for staying here, but there isn't much more to recommend the place. The pubs nearby were lovely, Burford is lovely and this place is cheap to stay in. But next time I'd rather pay more and go somewhere else.
Welcomed by uninterested staff, we found a cold room, lumpy misshapen mattress, really bad sound proofing (we heard toilet flushing above our heads and people talk outside until late at night!!). Breakfast was cheap and bad quality food, in soul-less dining room.
Nothing much other than a good location to be able to go to other pubs Breakfast good Hotel car park handy
Room quite small for a double Advertising the bathroom as private did not mean en suite and if this was required then a £10 surcharge was applied Decor in room was very plain and dowdy.
Great location, lovely staff and excellent breakfast. Made to feel very welcome.
The room was very hot (even in October) and we had to have the window open, unfortunately outside there was a problem with the guttering and running water all night, then the boiler started up at about 6am, so quite noisy in a quiet place.
