Comfortable rooms Friendly staff Walking routes Well kept lawn

Perhaps ceilings needed a little dusting... Many many spiders suggested that the ceilings not often seen to. Although of course spiders are to be expected in the countryside!

Fine weather enabled us to enjoy eating outside in the evening and again for breaklfast. A calm oasis in the countryside was with little or no traffic noise is a luxury espcially in the Midlands. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable

We liked our room it was light and airy and very clean as was the bathroom. The country location was very peaceful, just the sound of sheep and bird song. And because the weather was warm and sunny we had our evening meal and breakfast outside on the terrace, wonderful.

    there was nothing to dislike.

The location was the best thing. Whole place is very well presented.

For the price we would have expected a better breakfast. FEB was stated to have black pudding, but there was none. There was no fruit to go with the cereals. There didn't seem to be any jams either, that we could find. That said, the breakfasts we had were nicely cooked.

The room was a lovely size, very clean and I felt very cosy and relaxed. The location is superb and a good distance from the M1. I received a very genuine and warm welcome. I would like to visit again soon.

Difficulty finding it. The postcode didn't take me quite far enough to see the sign and the signs were difficult to see in the dark. I didn't eat there but want to bring my husband & friends to visit. To do this the menu and wine list would need to be a little more exciting for us to make the journey up from London.

Modern and cosy room. Large, clean ensuite. Good quality breakfast at a time to suit us. Plenty of parking.

Upon arrival there was some confusion as to which room we should have been in. Shown to two but both unmade, third time lucky was fine.

Warm welcome. views, food and comfort of room.

frustrating not to get a phone signal or wifi from room but otherwise a small price to pay for setting.

What a beautiful location. The fields and the meadows. It's a hidden gem I would definitely recommend. The mobile service was terrible (a good thing!) a great place to unwind and disconnect. John Freestone was great on his service and explaining the history of the estate.

Nice helpful owners, breakfast was very good. clean and tidy all round, no parking issues. I would return again but arrive in time for dinner next time.

it is a bit out of the way. If you are looking to eat here on an evening you need to note that they stop cooking at 8.00 pm. Then you have to drive to one of the local pubs in the surrounding area (around 2-5 miles) and I found most of them stop cooking at 8.30-9.00pm. Also I was unable to get a mobile signal. but maybe this is a plus point at times.

We were a little surprised to arrive at approx 5.30pm and find out that a restaurant service was not available but the proprietor was very good and made up a lovely tray of sandwiches, scones and salad for us to take back to our room. Pleasantly tranquil surroundings & a extremely well-fitted room. Most enjoyable one night stay.

A small bar of soap for the bathroom sink in addition to the shower gel provided would have been useful.

Loved the location although it was bit tricky to find in the first instance. Good breakfasts. Staff were great, very welcoming.

Shame the bed wasn't bigger. A standard double in such a lovely room and location was bit disappointing. The mattress was definitely very close to the end of its useful (and comfortable) life.

Location is very rural, but a welcome change from the larger corporate chains. Very clean and well presented, excellent food and service. Rooms extremely comfortable apart from one thing.

Radiators not large enough to heat rooms of the size they are on a cold evening. If that was rectified then this would be a first choice stay every time.

    Very friendly staff.

The wifi wasn't working and the cellphone coverage was terrible (inside the room no signal at all). But the latter is of course something that cannot be blamed on the owners of the hotel.

Cosy, warm rustic rooms having been converted from cowsheds. Friendly staff especially John Freestone who has led an interesting life as a hotelier and is an expert on South African wines. Thanks John for showing us the Platters guide on SA wines.

Hotel is tucked away in the countryside and better signage to the hotel would help. Apart from this small point we enjoyed our stay and would like to return.
