“ The size and appointments of our room were better than expected from the photos on the Grand Hotel's Website. The bay/sea view from our room was stunning. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a reasonably-priced dinner in the "fine dining" restaurant: The Gainsborough. An added bonus: this is right enact to the railway station, ”

On the Torbay seafront, the 4-star Grand Hotel has an AA Rosette-winning restaurant and a gym, with majestic views over the bay. The building, staff friendliness courtesy and efficiency. Very comfortable surroundings, bar, restaurant and pool area all very good. Overall very favourably impressed. Although we had a bath in our room, it must have been disconnected as taps didn't work. There was a shower, but I am not keen on showers and I think there should have been a note about the bath.

Good price and all the facilities you would expect. WiFi was a bit dodgy on the 4th floor. Food was good in the bar. Staff were very helpful and great views from my Window. As you might expect "The Grand" was once probably that but in these days of Boutique Hotels and Technology it doesn't quite live up to its name. No aircon in the room and it was very warm even with the window open

Fantastic location Staff are charming Hugely expensive drinks! Parking is first come first served on site and a payment for parking elsewhere that is only nominal but given the prices I wouldn't expect to pay for parking.

Everything about the hotel from the friendly staff who could not do enough for the guests to the decor and setting. It really made a great difference to our stay although we did not use the leisure facilities everything was perfect. Mr Richards has a winning team there.

Good breakfasts. Nice Compass Lounge overlooking bay. Outdoor pool warm and clean. Indoor pool area (not used) v.warm and facilities seem good. All customer-facing staff are attentive and friendly. The hotel is tired and out of date. Room decor and facilities are poor and decor is not maintained well with some damaged and peeling wall paper; creaking and sagging floor; some mould around the bath and out-dated bath shower curtain. Garage and front entrance are shabby and unwelcoming. The whole place needs a make-over. Overpriced. I cannot see how the four-star rating is justified now. The hotel should not just be about what is on the ground floor and in the pool/gym complex. Plus: Torquay currently is a building site and the essential charm of the old town has been destroyed. Brixham is worse. English Riviera my eye!

The location was great,only a 15min walk to shops,bars and town centre.Even though the room was a little dated,the view from the balcony was great.staff friendly and breakfast each morning could not be faulted. car parking was a little limited,with only one small garage and the room we stayed in was a little old fashioned.
