Just chilled and relaxing
Too hot in bedrooms
Lovely location with friendly staff and great facities. We traveled by train so the fact it was next to station was a real benefit. Easy to get anywhere by public transport.
Cafe lounge was a bit chilly during the day
Nice to see the sun come up over the sea from my bedroom window
The decor in my bedroom was very tired. Someone came in my room whilst I was having breakfast and opened the balcony door. I found that quite disturbing
Loved the location and the association with the 1930's and Agatha Christie. Staff were brilliant. It could be so much better though with a little investment. I liked the old-fashioned charm of it, the rather quaint (but at times frustrating) 1930's garage car parking!
The garage being full of "stuff" rather than parking spaces. The general drabness of a building that was quite clearly once very majestic indeed. The expensive but not very exciting restaurant, food served but then a long wait for vegetables or sauces.
The leisure facilities
The room needs an update
Public areas within the hotel are excellently decorated
The bedroom decor and furniture looks tired behind the scenes looks shabby in places
Very Clean tidy hotel, staff friendly, Good Breakfast Very Good Value
Long wait at the bar to be served
A very enjoyable stay , staff were brilliant , breakfast very nice
massage facilitys very good, very reasonable prices. breakfast was great, lovely food.
bed was too soft for me, but otherwise lovely. restaurant prices for dinner were a bit expensive.
Seriously loud music from what I think was a work party. It was so loud I couldn't do any work and it didn't stop until midnight!
Hotel is in a good location and has a friendly atmosphere.
The food was poor overall.
Friendly staff, good food, good position
No biscuits in room !
ool and gym.
Cleanliness in resturant! Very poor at tables close to sea veiw and in particlar beside radiators by full drop1 windows. cobwebs and bread crumbs
A roof over our heads
Air conditioning unit outside bedroom window was noisy all night. A request to change rooms was met with "we are fully booked", which clearly they were not. Our dinner reservation had been lost. There was no parking available other than at the railway station.
Ran out of the starter I wanted in the bistro and the wine we chose was also out of stock. Main course seared tuna was overcooked and I had no comeback from staff about my complaint. No marmalade at breakfast. I would have expected better from a 4* hotel. Overall a good value stay.
Service, food and staff excellent.
Well worn hotel. Noisy floor boards on room above woken early by noise. When wedding reception is on very busy in bar area, lack of seating and service
Looked like it should
Lack of info and no over control of what's happening Lack of leadership.
A good breakfast
Excellent Breakfast Friendly staff
Changing rooms at pool need a good makeover
Bar staff very rude Deluxe room 2 singles together Very very old fashioned Not worth the money Location to town centre for night out pretty poor had to get a taxi Shop wasn't open Taxis hotel arranged arrived 35 minutes later Poor old fashioned hotel not for young couples or groups just for the older group
Great location, views and short walk to waterfront. Suited our purposes for weekend visiting family.
Very small room with squeaky floorboards, ALL of them, and could hear everything from the occupant next door!! Bathroom designed for very short people, toilet and sink far too low, separate cold and very hot taps, poor shower. Also swimming pool and facilities really bad.
Cool temperature of the radiators
Had a lovely sea view room in a well located hotel.
We ate in the Compass Cafe/bar on the first evening. The food took a long time to arrive, was very cool and the chips despite being described as hand cut were frozen, the costs were extortionate for the quality of the meals.
Location Reception and bar area Library area off of bar
Room could probably do with a bit of modernisation
