Breakfast was excellent
Excellent hotel, the interior are very well chosen and looked after. The service is of exceptional good standard, the staff are very friendly, and very helpful. Food was excellent (Dinner and Breakfast). Would defiantly visit again.
First time at the Grand and was impressed All staff were very polite and helpful.Anthony at reception went out of his way to help The most fantastic breakfast.
Extremely dim lighting in the lounge
Nice hotel to relax in, we used the spa for massages and having the indoor pool was a bonus.
Slightly away from the main area of town.
staff being trained while customers orders were left to get cold. Having to asked for napkins.
The breakfast.and comfort
The bar and lounge areas are very pleasant with good service. The leisure suite and pool is nice.
I upgraded to an Executive room however it was very small for a double and disappointing given the high cost.
Nice breakfast. Pleasant staff.
Room tiny and view of fire escape. Carpet could do with a clean. Dead fly on floor still there after we asked for room to be serviced.
everything - even got parked in the garage.
Public areas very high quality, staff really friendly. Views from public area really good.
Car alarm at the train station went on for about an hour quite early in the morning. Bed wasn't very comfy. Bar really expensive.
Traditional hotel with good facilities.
I woke up one morning to find the bathroom ceiling was leaking water from the room above.
friendly and helpful staff
there was a lack of hot water for bath or shower.
We like the see view and proximity to town centre.
No air condition in the room.
on Saturday the service for breakfast was poor.
The bedroom Lounge &bar Selection at breakfast Parking Good selection of towels
The menu in the Compass Restaurant Steaks very-very expensive
Comfort and breakfast
All very Good
The Heavy Glass Tumblers in the bathroom.
This was a great place for a getaway break. Spoilt by a large barking dog in the room above running round doing laps. Please do not lower your standards anymore by allowing it to be turned in to a pet creash.
Location, staff, free parking & food.
General air of neglect about the exterior of building & some of the interior furnishings & fittings.
Entry to hotel as you would expect, clean, comfotable & elegant. All comforts were in the room and nice sheets/ towels. Breakfasts very good & varied choice.
Hallway to first landing all good. Corridors of main hallway shabby & dirty & in need of updating. Very disappointed with room of this rating. Our room was small & shabby & not special for a special occassion such as our wedding anniversary.
Staff so helpful, you're really made welcome. lovely breakfast.
nothing bad to say
sea view from room .comfort of room .helpfulness of staff. choice of menu location to bus and rail links special thanks to JOSH for taking the time to make our stay memorable
having to leave to go home
I. Paid for two sea view rooms -I don't know how they could justify charging the same for both rooms one was very substandard to the other and not worth the money - it was certainly not four star breakfasts were cooked for hours before and I suspect in some cases heated up from the day before not a place I would recommend and visit again -bitterly dissappinted
The food was good and the staff very friendly. nearness to station excellent
This is not 4* hotel. It is living in Victorian times and needs a major overhaul. Sleeping was impossible due to creeky floor boards. No air conditioning. The 1881 restaurant IS 1881. The hotel corridors are dingy and dull and the bedroom wanted a completely makeover. Would not recommend to my deadliest foe.
