Sea view wonderful Breakfast good Staff we found very helpful Very relaxed atmosphere
Minimum parking Hotel seemed tired and worn Low level of staff available Bedroom furniture looked distressed
Good breakfast staff very friendly and helpful
This is the second time I have stayed at the Grand Hotel and I was fortunate to have sunny weather on both occasions. The view from the bar/veranda takes your breath away - a great place to sit and have a drink while admiring the sailing boats and the almost Mediterranean sweep of the bay. The whole building is indeed very 'grand' and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. They appear to enjoy their job and get on with each other well which is important for a happy clientele. The rooms are comfortable and not overpriced. The location is superb on top of the cliff at the quieter end of the town and there is walk way straight down to the sand which is most convenient and ideal for a walk before or after breakfast - my daughter went jogging last year. But then she is from California. Can't wait to go back - to Swanage!
Breakfast. good shower, clean. nice friendly staff. views
Cost, room temperature very cold heeting was not on when I arrived, dinner too expensive for quality and quantity of food, not enough vegetable dishes offered, not enough soup dishes available could not connect to wifi. TV, quality of mattress poor.
Room 309 has sloping ceilings both sides of the double bed so, if you're not careful you keep banging your head getting in and out. No problem with the bathroom, it's almost the same size as the room.
LOTS OF THINGS MOSTLY THE VIEW, FOOD WAS GREAT AND VERY GOOD VALUE. STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDY , IREEN WAS A LOVELY LADY . GREAT LOCATION. CLEAN, TIDY , WELCOMING.
FOUND THE ROOM TO BE A BIT HOT , TEA AND COFFE WAS NOT REPLACED WHEN ROOM WAS CLEANED . DID ASK FOR SOME AND RECEPTION WERE FINE AND GAVE THEM TO US , IT WAS RESOLVED STRASIGHT AWAY. REALLY NOTHING WASNT TO DISLIKE.
Breakfast, good food excellent staff.
The whole feel of the hotel is dated. Things are clean but the look is old fashioned.
location,views,staff very helpful,good breakfast choice
Like the friendliness of staff and peaceful location. Good quality food. Beautiful view over Swanage Bay. Will definitely go back!
Parking can be a problem as the car park is small. You can park out on the road though.
the sea veiw from the room was excellent the breakfast was very good as was the bed.And the restaurant staff were excellent.
our room needed up dating the seats and carpet were tatty the shower was probably the worst I have ever used and the toilet needed nenewing.
food in resturant.view.papers
mattress was awful. very poor wifi
staff were very good and location was brilliant
hotel was good but a little tired in some areas
This is a very very tired hotel. The hotel needs a complete refurb. Everything worn out and dated, particularly conservatory which has beautiful view of the sea but crumbling. Staff make good effort but hotel desperately needs money throwing at it. Odd bedside lamps, odd chairs on stairway. The owners are greedy selling rooms on the location but not putting any money in. The bedrooms are functional but tired and old fashioned. Massive bathroom with smallest bath you have ever seen with a pathetic shower in the bath, which resulted in knocking elbows when showering. There was a small sink with the old fashioned two taps. The lift shuddered along and could only accommodate two people comfortably. When the lift stops it shakes and does not completely align with the floor. We discovered this when my husband exited the lift and fell out on to the stairway. After than we decided to use the stairs for the rest of our stay as it was safer.
View from room Music at the hotel
Breakfast was very greasy but it was very busy
Staff were very excellent, very polite. Breakfast was very good .Restaurant was very acceptable, nice clean linen. We could not understand why there was no Table d'hôtel menu available in the evening, the hotel was full but only about 12- 15 people having dinner ,therefore they must have been dining elsewhere, several people ate in the conservatory, this area was pleasant enough, but what a difference a few plants would have made. This hotel could become special, with a little bit of tweaking here and there without spending hardly any money.
, Being called the Grand Hotel, we expected the standard to be similar to the Grand Hotel in Brighton and Eastbourne, but this was not so, Entrance rather scruffy, Awful Plastic Flowers in the foyer etc. ,Parking very difficult, We did not know that a blues festival was taking place, the bar became like a pub, rather than a hotel ,you could not get away from the noise .and we thought this let the hotel down.
Location. Friendliness and courtesy of staff. Ambience and quietness of Hotel Price of a pint which was around pub prices and not rip off prices found in some hotels. Good quality breakfast, well cooked and plentiful.
Lack of variation in evening menu in both bar and restaurant. We chose not to eat in Hotel because of this. WiFi was not brilliant in most parts of hotel ( although receptionist did explain that this was due in part to solid construction of hotel )
Location and friendliness of staff.
Rooms were too hot.
The room, the staff the view, the restaurant, every thing was very good. We intend to go back and will want room 111 again with its balcony.
Traditional hotel atmosphere; helpful and friendly staff; well above average food & service for a 3* hotel; lovely dining room with plenty of window tables overlooking the bay; passenger lift; shower that worked well with additional hand shower attachment; sea view with small balcony (Room No 101); very pleasant garden.
Very small on-site car park although no problem finding on road parking (end September 2014); spotlessly clean bathroom but may be due for refurbishment; food quality excellent but dinner menu occasionally perhaps a bit limited.
The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable
The hot water tap in the bedroom took about 10 minutes to give hot water as did the shower.. Also the toilet did not flush very well it caused some problems
Great view nice atmosphere
Happy with everything but I do prefer organic wholesome sausages and the eggs were A little small.
Good size room, sea view, pleasant garden, excellent dinner
very warm in the hotel
The location, the views and the helpful staff
The inadequate carpark
The view from our window was outstanding, staff are very friendly, hotel pool was ok, breakfast very nice and served to your table.
Room was hot and the light from the conservatory kept us awake.
Staff, food, location rooms a little warn but comfortable price for last min can not fault
Very Poor wifi may be update, car parking poor but not their fault limited space.
