A friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at The Grange. The atmosphere was welcoming, friendly and relaxed. The old building was interesting and slightly quirky (in a good way) and the garden was lovely. Our room had a sea view and despite being in the 'attic' was light and airy. It was not very large but was fine, with no feeling of being overcrowded. Breakfast was very good and the day-long availability of tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit was very considerate. Staff were very helpful and appeared not to mind being pestered for information (because the IoW council has stupidly and shortsightedly closed down all of its information centres). A small niggle - we were hoping to have a massage but no one was available - our fault for not realising that somewhere like the Isle of Wight has a limited supply of therapists. However, had we managed to get a massage we would have been a bit dubious about the chalets in the garden where massages take place as they were rather basic and seemed a bit neglected.

Very friendly host. Breakfast was excellent, lots to choose from and fresh food cooked to order. Hotel car park was gated which meant you had to open and close the gates everytime you went in or out with the car. As it rained every day we were there we got quite wet doing this. My bed was very uncomfortable, hard mattress and springs could be felt and heard at every move. Very heavy duvet. No view from bedroom window apart from a brick wall. I would recommend the Grange for friendliness of staff and lovely breakfast but couldn't recommend the comfort of the beds.

The location (nearest to Shanklin Theatre) was most important in choosing The Grange. Not a complaint but I should of asked for a down-stairs room, idealy with a bath and not a shower.

The Grange is the most relaxing place I have ever stayed in. We were made very welcome and the owners had obviously given a great deal of thought to guests` comfort both inside the accommodation and outside in the beautiful gardens. Architectural fittings and styles enhanced this experience and an eclectic range of artwork stimulated conversation. Breakfasts were generous and delicious; additionally cakes and fruit from the garden were left in the dining room for guests to help themselves to with their afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful with directions and information about various venues on the island.

We stayed at the Grange last year and found it very convenient for beach and shops/restaurants. It was the only hotel we consider this year and we again found it very good.

The overall atmosphere was of tasteful serenity. The few staff were both friendly and efficient. The owner, who we met several times in passing, had put much of his love of the arts throughout the rooms and garden which all lent to the ethos of this charming place. The location was ideal as, turn left for the sea and right for shops and restaurants and buses and walks. The ensuite bathroom could have been a little bigger. It may be time to renew the mattresses (a little creaky).

Public area very stylish, good breakfasts I was given a small poky room with an old fashioned bathroom, although it does seem some of the rooms are better equipped. The main problem though is the parking - about seven places for guests for sixteen rooms!

The location was excellent, we could walk to many restaurants in the evening and in the daytime we could use the gardens. We found the staff very helpful and the breakfast times very flexible. We made use of the lounge area and the "honesty" bar and although we only stayed two nights our whole family found the break very relaxing.

my husband and i stayed during august bank holiday, the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The breakfast was wonderful! soooo much choice and the lovely lady in the kitchen was more than happy to cook other options on request (our breakfast kept us full until the evening!)The location is brilliant, some great local pubs/restaurants,very tranquil setting. Our room was very clean and well maintained. This is the second time we have stayed here and would recommend it to others.Coffee and biscuits available all day (help yourself),very homely feel. The dining room was very well presented and very clean as was the rest of the hotel.A lovely place to stay! The only thing that was difficult was the lack of parking space during busy times, although this is mentioned by the hotel,we stayed during the bank holiday when the 'scooter rally' was on and this sometimes posed a problem with parking. There is a local car park at the bottom of the garden,i believe you have to pay for this.

The grange is well located in a quiet road with very friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated with a selection of books, cd's and videos for guest use. Breakfast was good with both contnental and traditional English, freshly cooked to order. There is also good off road private parking and a very friendly dog!!

Very nice easy going and very trusting although we did not use the bar it was an open bar and they trusted us to pay for what we drunk. If i went to isle of wight again i would stay at the grange Not a lot we didnt like just maybe the parking was a little tight especially if you go on a very busy weekend like we did , cowes weekend .

The 'open bar', the coffee/tea available all day with biscuits/home made goodies. Bathroom was rather cramped. It felt as though there was a plastic sheet on the bed under the sheet which felt rather unpleasant especially as it was warm weather.
