Fantastic staff- could not do enough for us. Beautful, quiet (almost silent!) location right in the heart of old Shanklin. Gorgeous gardens Great value Excellent breakfast!

Lack of wifi in bedrooms- only available in lounge or lobby Very small bathroom Gardens need a little tidying- old broken chairs just laying at end of driveway near garden entrance

Beautiful setting and very central.

Only thing I would comment on is that the TV's need updating.

Small, comfortable guest house in a peaceful location set hign above the beach but within easy walking distance of local pubs, restaurants and shops. Excellent breakfast, free tea & coffee all day, friendly staff and plenty of 'peace & quiet'.

There was nothing we didn't like(except the winter weather)

Everything was perfect - we had a lovely room with an amazingly comfy bed and a wonderful view of the sea beyond the garden and the trees. The buffet breakfast was very good especially the fresh fruit salad every morning plus excellent full English breakfast. The staff were very welcoming and even presented me with a (home made) birthday cake at breakfast on my birthday. Free tea, coffee and home made cake and fresh fruit available all day - lovely to come back to after a bracing walk! We will definitely be back soon!

Warm welcome, comfortable room and complimentary refreshments throughout the stay. Very helpful proprietors and superb breakfast. Excellent central location and great to have good parking on site.

The lady serving the breakfast was a bit steely and unfriendly. She needs to smile and interact with the customers as she made us feel a little uncomfortable.

The Grange is in a quiet, secluded location, yet is just a short walk from the centre of Shanklin. The building inside and out has great character, with period features, the communal rooms large with high ceilings, there's an authentic and genuinely characterful atmosphere, very well stocked library, a beautiful garden, and a lovely dog. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. There's a sense of a community somehow at the Grange, that it's more than simply somewhere to stay, more than just a business. There's a distinct and unmistakeable peacefulness and tranquillity about the place, and I don't think this is by accident. If you want a spiritually enriching place to stay, without it being New-Agey or over the top in anyway, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. In fact, I'd come to the Isle of Wight just to stay at The Grange again. I can't think of a better recommendation. Other than the breakfast spread is superb, with plenty of cold options, delicious coffee, and an excellent cooked breakfast with real veggie sausages. I honestly didn't want to leave.

That I wasn't able to stay longer.

The personal service was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was excellent, the coffee and tea facilities available all day was a very nice touch. The chocolate squares available in the afternoon were fantastic! It was a wonderfully peaceful location, with pubs and shops within walking distance.

For us it was a perfect location in relation to the beach front and high street. It was very quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a short break to get away from it all. The hotel was vey comfortable and the breakfast was very good.

Excellent location, near to the Old Town as well as the beach. All staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. Great choice of breakfast, cooked to order and to your liking. Our room had great views over the large gardens and on towards the sea. No complaints at all, and highly recommended.

Although it was in a well-known tourist spot it was incredibly peaceful. Everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful and really made guests feel 'at home'.

We were disappointed that there were no evening meals - until we realised that there is a wealth of good restaurants within easy walking distance. However, in bad weather this would have been a drawback, especially for the elderly and less active

staff very friendly and helpful. however, I did find the experience A lonely one. perhaps A solo'S table in the dining-room might be helpful for solo holiday guests.

the poor drainage under the shower!!!

We were made to feel welcome. The location and ability to be able to get around the island from the Grange and close to the amenities of Shanklin. Also it was set in a lovely setting so made for a very relaxing holiday.

The hotel was run very efficiently and it was decorated to a good standard, mixing traditional with modern art without ripping the heart out of the historic building. We had our honeymoon in the hotel in 1977 and we went back to celebrate our 35th anniversary. There was a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room on our arrival which set the scene for a very happy 'second honeymoon'.

The friendliness of the staff and the design and lay-out of the hotel.

Excellent location being less than a 5 mins walk from Shanklin old town yet situated in a quiet residential road, a few minutes walk from the cliff path and beach. The staff were friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was outstanding - varied cold buffet with choice of hot food cooked to order. Decorated to a high standard with communal sitting room. Some nice touches eg: soft,clean white towels provided, plenty of pillows, tea,coffee and cake also left out downstairs free of charge. Encouraged to make yourself feel at home during stay.

a full length mirror in the bedroom, hooks in the bathroom, these were the only 2 items that could be added, the only other issues were the carpet in the bedroom was stained and the frill on the chair was coming off, room 11

Lovely ambience An oasis from the holiday hubbub Loved the decor and artwork and friendliness of staff Only negative, and this seems very trite, were the breakfast sausages which were so chewy they were indelible! We would certainly recommend it to friends.

The hotel is in a great location yet is private and succluded at the same time. The complimentary tea,coffee and cake is a nice extra and the 'honesty' bar shows a very civilised approach.

Uncomfortable beds and the room needed a bit of TLC - TV old and without full freeview. I get the feeling our room wasn't indicative of the rest of the hotel.

The grange was a comfortable place to stay.

Very happy with our stay. Staff very friendly and helpful, room clean, location excellent for access to old town and beach, view from patio over wooded garden superb and breakfast worth getting up for. Will certainly be returning.

The Grange is quiet, very comfortable, very clean, friendly, convenient to the beach, beautiful views, and the breakfast is first class.
