Score from 129 reviews Very good
easy to get to
the cottage was on the car park bed not comfortable inappropriate staff
Breakfast was good
architecture, bed, shower, free fast internet
no curtain in the room, poor decor
There was an foul smell of a dead animal through the corridor to the room. I specifically stated on the booking that I requested soya milk, to my dissapointnent they did not get any, the lady at breakfast replied very abruptly with ''the shops were shut' 'can you have it black?' I think this was appalling service, I would have personally got in my car hadn't it been for the snow shower outside. I asked for hard poached eggs and they came up soft, the lady at breakfast came to let me know she had checked the form and the request had not come through. There was no blind in our room (Howard)
Great blend of the old and new in architecture, facilities and service.
Very convenient location from which to carry out my intended commitments in the area
Far too early shut down for dinner - we had to order instantly on arrival, before 7.00pm. Far too early shut down of bar - 9.00pm!!! I had intended to spend quality time with family, but everything closed down. Not at all impressed.
This is a beautiful building which has been very tastefully decorated. Nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good!
Great staff. Excellent breakfast. Complimentary bottled water
No wifi in the annex. Poor shower. Uncomfortable bed.
Nice breakfast. Comfortable bed. Great location for our needs. Big car park.
Getting locked out and nobody telling us that at midnight nobody would be there. Key didn't work. Green light on bedroom ceiling in room that wouldn't turn off and disturbed my sleep. Shower that soaked entire bathroom!
Staff were great. Happy, cheerful and very guest-focussed.
The bed in the Cottage room. Possibly the worst mattress we have ever slept on! If you can't sleep then count the springs because you can feel every one!
Stayed in the executive suite. The copper bath is impressive.
The room could do with with Finnishing touches. Woken up with early morning bin collection under window
This hotel has amazing character. The original wooden beams, antique pieces of furniture and fireplaces make you feel like you are in Tudor England! We stumbled upon this pub a year ago and planned to return on Sunday as it’s just so stunning. A real hidden gem! We stayed in the Henry the 8th suite and the room was huge! We had a roll top brass bath in the main bedroom and the decor was very impressive. The food here is great but the chef was a bit stressed and shouted at the staff which we over head as we were sat near the kitchen. The waitress at breakfast was super helpful and friendly. In summary this is well worth a visit and the rooms are reasonably priced.
The bed was comfortable but every single time you move it creaked...this sounds a bit picky but the noise was really loud and woke me up a few times. The staff were very friendly on the whole but it did seem a little bit like they forgot we were coming/ that we were there.
Good food and nice atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Good food.
Minor things but irritants - had to ask both days for 'ordinary' tea bags in our room as only flavours such as camomile, fruit etc provided. Bed side lamp not working and not replaced while we were there.
Lovely building, very good breakfast, room had a nice shower room
We were given annexe room in the car par park,so we both had very little sleep due to noise from passing traffic, which continued most of the night, and people driving away after the function that night.
The food was excellant we had a fabulous breakfast and evening meal the night before
Our rooms were very noisy and the rubbidh lorry woke us up very early on Tuesday morning
The building was incredibly interesting. The bar area is lovely
My room was very small and scruffy. The paint work all around was in poor condition and the green fire exit light was on all night which was quite annoying. For the money I expected quite a bit more from my room
Everything, Room was spotless, food excellent in the evening and morning. Good choice of ales, lagers. Staff very polite and professional. Lovely location and building. Prices comparable with elsewhere. Will stop there again.
The food was adequate and the staff were attentive although we did experience a long wait for dinner on the first night considering the restaurant was not overflowing. But would like to reiterate that the room was very disappointing as to what we expected from the website.
The room for the price £190 was excessive for what was provided. 1.Only one bedside table. 2. 3mirrors in bedroom , only one was practical which was non accessible to plugs. 3.Cups were too big for saucers. 4.Skirting board and wall dirty. 5.No opening window. 6. TV useless. 7.2 coat hangers on a hanging clothes rack. 8.Bathroom. No' heated' towel rail. 9.A very loud fan. 10. Only a tiny hand basin provided. 11. Nowhere to put toiletries for 2 people adequately, except on the floor. 12. A large walk in shower but somewhat dangerous as no grab handles provided & no textured floor. Found this a problem on a shampooed wet floor. I feel that the interior designer who was responsible for this room should seriously think about going back to design college to learn the fundamentals and practicalities of design !
Very friendly welcome, excellent food, although a limited range, and a very good, quiet night's sleep
The annex where i stayed is beautifull The Inn itself is nice The Bar and Breakfast staff are very friendly Big parking area
Rodents partying in the attic, not a very nice thought The matress where i slept on, albeit fairly new was probably the cheapest on offer by DFS and prevented me from sleeping which was the main reason for my stay!!! Having pointed this out to a very nice and friendly member of the Breakfast staff, she assured me the manager would get back to me that day. It's now three days later and i haven't had any reply. :-( My toptip: avoid the Grasshopper Inn if you want to stay and sleep. I'm not a fussy person and on average stay at an Inn/Hotel every fortnight, this is one of the worst beds i slept on.
Very welcoming , bed comfortable and lovely shower .
Finding the check-in desk was a bit confusing as it was situated in the bar area with no signage.
The location and main building was of a good standard.
On arrival to be asked to pay £170 then given a key to an outbuilding that could only be described as a glorified garden shed situated on the car park. The main problem with the interior was mold in the shower. Needless to say we asked for our money back and left minutes after arrival . Very disappointed considering it was our Wedding Anniversary
Food and Bedroom massive shower in the bathroom
Lovely bedroom; modern additions to an old building tastefully carried out. Staff friendly and helpful. Inn had a very nice atmosphere.
