Score from 171 reviews Good
In the heart of the Wye Valley, this traditional English country Inn overlooks the River Wye and ancient Goodrich Castle. It offers a modern Restaurant Grill and bright, airy rooms.

This 16th-century inn is in the beautiful Wye Valley, in the cider orchards between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. It has free on-site parking, free Wi-Fi, a traditional bar and a modern restaurant.

Friendly, helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Characterful period hotel with quirky rooms. No mobile phone connection.
No mobile phone connection!
A building of great character and wonderful decor. Sadly this was a very short visit and not one I got to relax and enjoy the comforts. What I experienced was fabulous.
I am a light sleeper and room 5 is above the restaurant and was a bit noisy. I used ear plugs. I would also have preferred a firmer bed.
The whole place is delightful, good responsive staff, simply delicious food and overall good service...
There has to be a but! A few days before in Amsterdam's Park Hotel that has sumptuous modern soft mattresses for the first time in decades. Terrible, then to experience yet another almost identical soft contraption was a serious disappointment in what is a special stylish place. Now in Kabul!
We booked both a standard double and a deluxe double. The standard was better than most rooms we have stayed in... and the deluxe was a suite with lounge, kitchen and dining area. Not sure if we had been upgraded but it was excellent. The staff were superb from the moment we arrived, extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
The only minor problem was that a number of cob nuts fell from an overhead tree on to the bedroom roof! These woke us up a couple of times.
The location and building was excellent, the staff were very welcoming. It was a shame we had a busy weekend that resrticted our time onsite because the bar and restaurant were excellent.
On the first evening there were downstairs doors being shut rather loudly . On the second day the emergency light came on due to several power cuts in the evening. Both disturbed our sleep.
We were greeted warmly and our friendly host showed us to our room. Our room was well appointed with all of the little extras. I loved the hot chocolate. The full breakfast was individually cooked and excellent.
The dinner was a little pricey but not outrageously so.
Definitely worth stopping for dinner. Terrific Herefordshire steaks. Room was cosy and comfortable.
We would highly recommend this beautiful Hotel with its warm homely interior.
Great staff and food, room very comfortable.
Noisy, wireless a bit hit and miss, no fruit at breakfast
Breakfast was excellent. A couple of minor repairs were attended to promptly.
Service was patchy, nobody at reception on arrival and not enough staff one morning.
quality of dinner excellent, breakfast good large room and bathroom, bath tub and shower
no baked beans and hash browns for breakfast room poorly cleaned
good food, comfortable beds, modern bathroom, friendly and efficient staff
rather dark room
Really enjoyed the entire experience. The attention to detail in all aspects of the interior fit out and atmosphere was very well done. Great shower too!
Nice country pub. Good food in restaurant Excellent breakfast Room nicely decorated & clean
Annexe rooms had shared lounge/kitchen, which was fine for families, but not couples. No chair or mirrors in bedroom
Lovely hotel. Standard of fittings and furnishings in our room were excellent. Staff very attentive
No drawer or shelf in room. No razor point in bathroom
Just about everything Room fabulous, Staff excellent, Foods great

Situated in a quiet village, the green man inn was a little treasure.Recived a lovely welcome, the appartment was exellent,2 large double onsuite, comfy setees and v.clean.The complementary soaps and shampoo was a lovely thought. The food was tasty, would recommend this hotel :)
Nothing to write about
Road noise and bit pricey
Lots of friendly efficient staff Trendy décor Lovely bathroom Good breakfast Pretty gardens Top class steak meal in the evening Wonderful old building
a pass for the onsite leisure centre gym/pool would have been icing on the cake
The luxurious apartment we stayed in along with the excellent service we received and the delicious food. The Green Man is an old building which has lovely historical features but with modern facilities. I loved everything to be honest and would definitely like to go back!
Excellent service Good pub grub Good local butcher We will come again.
No fixed shower in bathroom.
Very poor wifi signal.
Great staff and food. Building has real character and every room has its own individuality. This is very refreshing after the beige box Holiday Inns and Marriott's.
Noisy rooms with kitchen fans and air cons switching on and off all night at the side and back and the main road at the front. Sleeping with the window open is not an option. No TV remote and no fan in the room although both issues were dealt with straight away. TV so small that its hard to see.
