This 16th-century inn is in the beautiful Wye Valley, in the cider orchards between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. It has free on-site parking, free Wi-Fi, a traditional bar and a modern restaurant.

This beautiful gothic Victorian hotel was built in 1851, retaining its original charm and character with the added luxury of modern amenities. Free parking is available on site.
Score from 56 reviews Very good
Excellent service and assistance. Room comforts ideal.
Wifi reception spasmodic depending on location in building
Staff really friendly and welcoming, food excellent and beds really comfortable.
Had to chase for heating in Room 1 and never had any heating in the bathroom :-(. No drawers also gave some challenges
Varied choice of dishes on menu, catering for all tastes; food well prepared and presented as well as being good. Spacious and comfortable room in old part of pub (as requested). Staff helpful and friendly. Have been to Green Man many times, but first time used room service, which was very prompt.
Only a stone's throw from Hereford, yet this charming hotel, is set in an idyllic country village. Warm welcome, beautiful rooms, and all the modern conveniences you could need. Very special little hotel.
Perhaps only the fact that there was no iron in my room, but that is easily resolved. Otherwise no fault at all.
Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Generous sized rooms with a modern luxurious feel.
"Twee" style of dining. Eating from slate plates, wooden chopping boards, paper cones etc. - too many to fit on the table. Not having a table my side of the bed for clock, glasses etc. Make-up shelf in the lovely bathroom would have been helpful.
Great contemporary decor while retaining the ancient beams and low ceilings. Big fluffy towels and excellent shower in our bathroom; crisp sheets on an extra-large bed. A smart menu, with meticulously cooked food, and good choice of wines by the glass.
Excellent meal, wonderful relaxing location
Very little, maybe more seating space in the bar as opposed to nearly all tables set for meals
Could hear the gentleman in room 3 snoring through the ajoining door into our room. heard the TVuntil it was turned off and talking from room 3 into our room ()room 2) Room 2 was not sound proof from room 3 therefore didn't sleep well.
Excellent ambiance. Good food and drink. Good safe car parking
I bumped my head on a low beam ;-)) my fault, taller than chaps of old ;-))
The atmosphere. The food was well presented and very tasty. Wine perfectly chilled. Staff were friendly. Liked the heated mirror in the bathroom. Decor and furnishings, lovely. Face cloths provided. Being able to give special requests - I asked for top sheet on the bed as it is often too hot for a quilt in hotel bedrooms
The loose toilet seat. Dim lighting in the room. No shower mat.
Loved all the different areas which had interesting architecture and artefacts. Attractive decor - expensively fitted out. Enjoyable meal, reasonably good value. Superbly comfortable bed, good bathroom and nice outdoor areas. Free wifi. Welcoming staff.
Not a drinker's pub, almost exclusively a pub for dining so probably not a real "local".
Staff, food, and décor, all really lovely.
The sound of the kitchen and pool fan
The building, decor, room, bed, shower, food.......everything!
Breakfast was disappointing, uninspired and poorly organised.
The staff were so helpful. The food and atmosphere in the bar and restaurant areas was excellent. It was all beautifully decorated and kept in a super condition. The bed was reasonably comfortable although I prefer a slightly softer top, this is just personal taste. We were in room 12, a king, having been moved from room 9, a twin, which did have softer mattresses. We really enjoyed our stay and will go again.
Room 9, over the kitchen, was like a sauna. We were kindly moved to room 12. The decor was slightly at the expense of practicality. In room 9 there was no shelf (or any surface!) to put toiletries on in the bathroom, despite it being very large. One of the twin beds had no bedside table or light and there were only four hangers in wardrobe! In 12 it was a little better (though a smaller room), but there was no bedside light on one side of the king bed which was inconvenient. The room was also very dark, not helped with a dark brown wall opposite the window. All said though, we would stay again (not in room 9!). The staff and place made up for any shortcomings.
very friendly staff and politeful manager felipe.gastro pub with good food. Would stay here again but would not book standard room. Breakfast very good and dinner was faultless, wine list extensive but pricey.
standard room very small proverbial cat etc, but well equipped, particularly bathroom. No wardrobe and on warm days stifling. Cannot open window. Difficult to sleep too warm. Did not like naff salt and pepper wine bottles at dinner.
Excellent food, friendly staff, Good location.
the staff and dinner
bed was narrow and uncomfortable. no slip mats in shower breakfast choice not very good
no wardrobe to hang dresses. no depth to wash basin no room telephone no roasts mainly steaks on menu
Friendly, helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Characterful period hotel with quirky rooms. No mobile phone connection.
No mobile phone connection!
A building of great character and wonderful decor. Sadly this was a very short visit and not one I got to relax and enjoy the comforts. What I experienced was fabulous.
I am a light sleeper and room 5 is above the restaurant and was a bit noisy. I used ear plugs. I would also have preferred a firmer bed.
The whole place is delightful, good responsive staff, simply delicious food and overall good service...
There has to be a but! A few days before in Amsterdam's Park Hotel that has sumptuous modern soft mattresses for the first time in decades. Terrible, then to experience yet another almost identical soft contraption was a serious disappointment in what is a special stylish place. Now in Kabul!
We booked both a standard double and a deluxe double. The standard was better than most rooms we have stayed in... and the deluxe was a suite with lounge, kitchen and dining area. Not sure if we had been upgraded but it was excellent. The staff were superb from the moment we arrived, extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
The only minor problem was that a number of cob nuts fell from an overhead tree on to the bedroom roof! These woke us up a couple of times.
The location and building was excellent, the staff were very welcoming. It was a shame we had a busy weekend that resrticted our time onsite because the bar and restaurant were excellent.
On the first evening there were downstairs doors being shut rather loudly . On the second day the emergency light came on due to several power cuts in the evening. Both disturbed our sleep.
We were greeted warmly and our friendly host showed us to our room. Our room was well appointed with all of the little extras. I loved the hot chocolate. The full breakfast was individually cooked and excellent.
The dinner was a little pricey but not outrageously so.
This was the most spectacular weekend. I found the Green man inn an absolute delight - some of the best rooms I have stayed in in the UK for many years and for a fraction of the price; they seem to have thought of everything and not scrimped on quality. We had dinner in the restaurant on both nights. The quality of the food was fabulous, and the customer service from start to finish was second to none. In fact, I have not experienced such good customer service anywhere in England since I can remember. Brilliant work Chaps! On the second evening we did not feel like a big dinner, but the restaurant were very accomodating, allowing us to eat 'off menu' and doing all they could to be flexible. I cannot fault them at all. Of course, this weekend was topped off by my Partner and I getting engaged in Room 12, but what a place to do it, and it will forever be held in high esteem by both myself and fiance! We hope to return again soon...
The fire escape light in the bedroom emmitted an eerie green glow... if that could be rectified then the room would be near enough perfect!
