This little pub was really a last minute booking as the hotel I booked let me know I did not have a room! Staff welcoming and very friendly, best selection of real ale I have seen out side of a beer festival for a very long time, old character building, fantastic breakfast, big bedroom..... Would I stay here again yes!

This is not a "didn't" like more an observation. The accommodation is tired and carpets worn, and the shower room is functional and looks like an on going project..... That said I had good nights sleep and a hot shower

The owner was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Bedding was clean

Dirty and threadbare carpets on the stairs. Dirty carpet in the bedroom. Walls peeling paint. Half finished repairs. Having to duck to get in and out of bed. Noise outside. Share bathroom and toilet.

We liked the proximity to the centre. We travelled there for a wedding which was a 10min walk away from the venue.

The property itself was old, carpets ripped everywhere. The rooms could looked like they hadn't been painted in a very long time. It was quite an unclean place. There is a service station directly opposite the Green Man. This attracts a lot of noise at night and we were kept up between 2-3am by treenages screaming and carrying on out in the street. The following morning, no one had shown up for work which meant we couldn't pay and check out. We had to leave and come back again. I would not recommend to stay here, awful experience.

Excellent location, close to centre, free on-road parking! Nice old inn. Nice atmosphere. Quiet for a popular inn. Very warm welcome from the young couple who run the inn, very helpful. Good cheap accommodation.

For the price you are paying, this is very very good. Be aware of not en-suite, rooms basic, but if you want these things and other luxuries go elsewhere and pay a lot extra.

Staff were very friendly & polite, and the breakfast was excellent for the price... if you're ok with the slightly stale beer smell in the pub where you have it in the morning!

Shared toilet/bathroom which is VERY basic. We were only staying here as a crash pad for 1 night & so were fine with the level of the rooms etc, knowing we would be getting in late and up early but it's not somewhere we'd want to be staying for longer than that!

Very well cooked and enjoyable breakfast presented by friendly chef.

Very shabby accomodation which desperately needs a make-over. My reception was not very welcoming - I had driven for 7 hours to get there so felt very disapointed.

It was everything that I expected for the price charged. Pretty close to town and free (6pm - 8am) overnight parking close by if needed. Good real ale pub with nice outdoor area. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Comfortable big bed in double room. Would stay again.

Needs a bit of "love" upstairs and on stairs but reflective of price so no gripes.

    Nothing, I will not return

No TV, no help from Staff, I have stayed in numerous b&b's/Hotels across the uk and this is seriously one of the worst experiences.

Location was good, centrally located. There was a roof, walls, a bed and clean sheets and towels. Staff were very nice.

Wallpaper was falling off the walls with damp. Cobwebs and dead spiders on the window, which was full of condensation. Dust, everywhere. Dirty (used) earbud (from previous guest presumably) next to the tea/coffee making facilities. Shower mat in the bathroom was filthy and you felt less clean after using the shower. Breakfast was average, at best and the 'locally sourced' sausages appeared to have been locally sourced from the local Iceland at £6 each - not good value.

Very easy going and informal set up. Basic facilities but clean and well located

Breakfast started at 8 - after we needed to leave - and tv had just 1 channel. Neither was a major issue

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The location is really good for the town centre, and fantastic walks in the lovely countryside. The breakfast was served on time and was really nice.I liked the old pub building which I think is 17C and loved the quirky spiral staircase up to the rooms. Our room was very spacious. I will definetly stay again and i think some of the feedback is to harsh as its not trying to be a posh hotel but a quant old pub offering good honest accomodation.

Not so much what I didn't like but some suggestions to make it an even better experience! As there is a busy road and garage opposite light sleepers will be disturbed as the windows are very old, so I would suggest secondary glazing units which would reduce noise and disturbance significantly. Although there may usually be roadside parking in front of the pub, or in a road at the back the booking form implies that there is private parking in a car park? The celings in the shower and some of the bedrooms need some repair and towel rails are needed in the the toilet and bathroom. The extractor fan in the toilet didn't work and the lights on the landings didn't work which could be dangerous at night. A towel and hand cleaner should have been put in the toilet. Although there are storage heaters in the bedroom they didn't seem to work very well and we asked for a fan heater as it got chilly at night. The room TV's only let you see Sky sports and need boxes so you can see all the other channels! Some of the rooms needed more thorough cleaning to remove cobwebs etc! A menu of pub food should be put in the rooms with a way of ordering without having to go all the way down to the bar, otherwise you will just go out and buy food so the pub is missing out on a trick there. They need to be selling the concept of staying in a quirky old pub which is different than the normal clinical accomodation you get in many places. As said this is not slating the place as I enjoyed staying there and would recommend it, but would like to see these minor changes incorporated.

Large Twin Room all to myself for single room rate. Very comfortable bed, good shower (not ensuite), washbasin in room, good location, helpful staff. Excellent value.

Free on street parking directly outside, but not always available, no private parking. Windows slightly draughty, could be an issue in winter, however this is a old pub/inn so totally in character.

It was exactly where we wanted to be as we had a reunion in the pub itself. The owner was enthusiastic and friendly.

Not en-suite. Not a place for people who may have difficulty with stairs as it's an old pub and the stairs are really steep.
