Score from 188 reviews Fabulous
Breakfast Nice atmosphere in pub Friendly staff
Uncomfortable spring mattress
Relatively cheap free off-road parking comfortable bed
hotel in a pub can be noisy if room overlooks road extra charge for breakfast soulless
The bed linen was clean.
Dirty room. Noisy as windows didn't fit properly. Toilet was broken. No light bulb in the bedroom. Bedside lamp had no lampshade. TV didn't work. No light on the very steep stairwell. Chef didn't turn up so no breakfast. 'Free local parking' turned out to be on road parking.
Closeness to town centre Good breakfast good pub atmosphere
Stains on carpet unfinished decorations and promenant springs in the bed. Bathroom and toilet un finished
Comfy bed and friendly welcome
Very scruffy, carpet so worn you can see the floor underneath. Radiator didn't work
the walls were falling to pieces, the lights didn't work, the mirror had fallen on the floor when my room, there was a couple in sexual acts in the beer Garden, we found a bag of Cannabis on the floor in the morning, the breakfast was burnt, the cups in the room were dirty, the breakfast bowl was chipped they gave us no option of what we actually wanted for breakfast, and the coffee tasted disgusting, and last but not least... The ice that was in my whiskey had big black bits of dirt in it.
Leaving to be honest
The smell of cigarette smoke upstairs, the condition of the staircase, the black dirtbon the windowsill, ceiling paint was coming off, tv could only receive one channel, 24hr petrol station smack opposite the pub so noisy, windows so thin couldnt block noise out, dirty cutlery at breakfast, chef never wore whites just his outdoor clothes while cooking.
This little pub was really a last minute booking as the hotel I booked let me know I did not have a room! Staff welcoming and very friendly, best selection of real ale I have seen out side of a beer festival for a very long time, old character building, fantastic breakfast, big bedroom..... Would I stay here again yes!
This is not a "didn't" like more an observation. The accommodation is tired and carpets worn, and the shower room is functional and looks like an on going project..... That said I had good nights sleep and a hot shower
the bed was comfortable
lack of interest from the staff felt like was an inconvenience. Room was not ready despite asking to check in early had to change in toilet to get ready for a wedding. There was no staff around most of the time even had to hang around to wait to pay for my room didn't bother with breakfast just wanted to get out
The owner was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Bedding was clean
Dirty and threadbare carpets on the stairs. Dirty carpet in the bedroom. Walls peeling paint. Half finished repairs. Having to duck to get in and out of bed. Noise outside. Share bathroom and toilet.
We liked the proximity to the centre. We travelled there for a wedding which was a 10min walk away from the venue.
The property itself was old, carpets ripped everywhere. The rooms could looked like they hadn't been painted in a very long time. It was quite an unclean place. There is a service station directly opposite the Green Man. This attracts a lot of noise at night and we were kept up between 2-3am by treenages screaming and carrying on out in the street. The following morning, no one had shown up for work which meant we couldn't pay and check out. We had to leave and come back again. I would not recommend to stay here, awful experience.
Excellent location, close to centre, free on-road parking! Nice old inn. Nice atmosphere. Quiet for a popular inn. Very warm welcome from the young couple who run the inn, very helpful. Good cheap accommodation.
For the price you are paying, this is very very good. Be aware of not en-suite, rooms basic, but if you want these things and other luxuries go elsewhere and pay a lot extra.
Staff were very friendly & polite, and the breakfast was excellent for the price... if you're ok with the slightly stale beer smell in the pub where you have it in the morning!
Shared toilet/bathroom which is VERY basic. We were only staying here as a crash pad for 1 night & so were fine with the level of the rooms etc, knowing we would be getting in late and up early but it's not somewhere we'd want to be staying for longer than that!
Very impressed with the courtesy, efficiency and helpfulness of the staff
Real collection of beer
The bed was not great!
Cheap room in Stamford
Room was dark and dingy Light over mirror didn't work No remote for tv Bed wasn't very comfy, you could feel the springs in the mattress Breakfast wasn't very good. Only a choice of 2 musli for cerial, small fry up and no toast rack with jam or marmalade.
Not recommended, avoid
Very well cooked and enjoyable breakfast presented by friendly chef.
Very shabby accomodation which desperately needs a make-over. My reception was not very welcoming - I had driven for 7 hours to get there so felt very disapointed.
It was everything that I expected for the price charged. Pretty close to town and free (6pm - 8am) overnight parking close by if needed. Good real ale pub with nice outdoor area. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Comfortable big bed in double room. Would stay again.
Needs a bit of "love" upstairs and on stairs but reflective of price so no gripes.
Nothing, I will not return
No TV, no help from Staff, I have stayed in numerous b&b's/Hotels across the uk and this is seriously one of the worst experiences.
Convenient for Stamford
Road noise Shabby
Location was good, centrally located. There was a roof, walls, a bed and clean sheets and towels. Staff were very nice.
Wallpaper was falling off the walls with damp. Cobwebs and dead spiders on the window, which was full of condensation. Dust, everywhere. Dirty (used) earbud (from previous guest presumably) next to the tea/coffee making facilities. Shower mat in the bathroom was filthy and you felt less clean after using the shower. Breakfast was average, at best and the 'locally sourced' sausages appeared to have been locally sourced from the local Iceland at £6 each - not good value.
Friendly helpful and lively community pub with a lot of real ales and ciders
Nothing This place was just as I imagined it has a lot of history
Very easy going and informal set up. Basic facilities but clean and well located
Breakfast started at 8 - after we needed to leave - and tv had just 1 channel. Neither was a major issue
