having a restaurant and pub on same premises and walking distance to other facilities in town.
Shower was cold and no water from hot water tap in one of the rooms.
Historic pub in the centre of town, with parking. Clean and comfortable at a good price. Close to eateries.
Bathroom had a sliding door which was neither silent to open, nor soundproof when closed (!)
Room spacious and comfortable - lovely large T.V!!
Bed too soft for elderly, arthritic bones!!!
Other staff very helpful Bar staff etc could not fault
Chef for breakfast late twice improved once I complained
Friendly staff and a good bar.
Breakfast was terrible! Only one member of staff to take orders, cook the breakfast, fill up juices and clean up. Bed was very uncomfortable. Shower didn´t work.
Staff very welcoming.Nice room comfortable bed.
Had to wait a while for breakfast.
Location and value for money. Cheap option for accomodation. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Breakfast wasent served on time and could have been better quality.
location and availability of a single room
breakfast chef arrived late needs to learn to cook scrambled egg room clean but only bed made, no cleaning of bathroom during stay. Shower head too big for small space. No mirror in bathroom. Better arrangement for hanging clothes needed. Always the little things that make a difference
Staff were really friendly. Location was good and the hotel was very clean. Breakfast excellent.
Little things can spoil a stay . Toilet seat was hanging off and all it took was for me to tighten the screws underneath but it should not be me doing that . No blind of any kind at bathroom window and it was plain glass! Big no no for us was no mattress protector on, I can't remember the last time we stayed in a hotel in this country that didn't have them on and they cost so little and help hygiene issues. Hotels are expensive in the Lakes so £70 is reasonable if they sort out the little things.
Great b&b close to Winderemere station and centre of town. Lovely pub with great food
Unable to checkin or get in until 3pm so we had to walk around town with bags until checkin
We just stayed one night at the Grey Wall the room was lovely and big and clean no complaints it was near the train station
The staff - can't fault them. Very helpful and welcoming. Very dog friendly. Food was excellent. Full English breakfast was included and freshly cooked. All in all an enjoyable stay - I'll certainly go back again.
Found I had to pay £100 deposit (refundable) for having my dog with me. If I'd booked a few weeks in advance I would have received an email advising me of this - as it was I'd booked the day before arrival so got no warning.
Room and bar meals.A no problem mid week stay
thought everything was spot on.nothing was too much trouble for very friendly staff, who also were very helpful.would not hesitate to stay there again.meals were excellent too.
nothing to say in this heading
WINDERMERE: The Grey Walls, Elleray Road Ph. 011-44 1 5394 43741 Couldn’t find this place because we thought it was a B & B in someone’s house, but it was a hotel. The directions need to be clearer. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.
Very little parking.
Clean with a very comfortable bed, good quality pillows, duvet, bed linen and towels. Close to shops, bars and restaurants. Friendly staff in the lively bar. Helpful Manager allowed us to check in early as were attending a wedding at 12pm.
Room quite small and smelt a bit musty as it was in a basement.(no: 17) Breakfast ok but not outstanding, especially as there was no butter or other spread for toast, this was totally unacceptable for a tourist hotel. The waitress didn't really apologise just made an excuse that they'd been really busy as there was a large wedding party staying (we were part of it).
Staff we're very friendly, approachable and helpful. Location suited our needs as it was close the church of St Marys where we attended a wedding and was only a short bus ride to the main attractions of Bowness.Bar prices are discounted for residents.
Breakfasts could be better. Black pudding not offered on the first occasion as part of the the full english breakfast . Ran out of butter at breakfast, reason given was because they had been busy ??? Stayed in room number 5 , which had a quirky sloping floor due to age of the property (??) Bathroom would benefit from a more powerful shower ( excercise in the morning was running around in the shower trying to get wet....), it would also benefit from having clothes hangers or hooks in the bathroom. No wardrobe in the bedroom although an open hanging rail was available. Generally all rooms seem to be priced the same although some clearly are better appointed than others.
Attitude of Staff, Helpful. Obliging and Welcoming Breakfast, good choices and well presented
Car Parking restrictive
Clean linen and towels. Comfy beds
Staff not welcoming or interested in our arrival. No loo rolls after having to go down to the public bar both on arrival and when we returned in the evening.car parking shocking - really made our stay anxious as had no choice but to block other drivers in. landlord had a 'take it or leave it' attitude. We shared a twin room - extremely compact, little room for luggage etc. very much overpriced at £70.00 for a single night, We did not sample breakfast as we had to leave before 8.30 am. We would not stay here again.
Everything was great
Staff were polite and helpful.
The bed was like a cabin bed very small in length I had to sleep with my legs curled and kept getting cramp. I went to hang up my hand towel and the hand ring fell off the wall. The cover for the pipes under the bathroom sink fell off onto my foot. The noise from the traffic outside was very loud. When the bar closed, the staff had to bring in all the chairs from outside and this was very noisy. On check out there was no one around other than a young lad who had served breakfast.
We saw improvements from our last stay here which made our stay even better than before. I'm sure that next time we stay more work will have been done.
Parking could be better, but this will improve when the work has finished.
Location it is only a steady walk to Bowness(30-40 mins) where you can get a boat to all lake attractions. The bed was very comfortable, room was very clean and tidy.
Small car park littered with rubbish, staff kept us waiting to check in so she could finish her cigarette, food cold, dogs allowed in dinning area
staff very friendly, nice big room and bed, food great and great location.
my only dislike was no carling or fosters.
price,service and cleanliness
needed a bit more mending in places. Tarting up
