Very attentive staff and owner,he even loaned us his sat nav! Wonderful food and after a two night stay we didn't want to return to London. The courtyard garden is beautiful.
Food, good real ale, parking off road and free at night, centre of town, good choice for breakfast
there were 6 in our party all rooms were well equipped, breakfast was lovely each of the 3 days we stayed
To much furniture in room, e.g sofa and large chair.
Character features and excellent food. Four poster bed room to die for
I loved the character of the building, my room and facilities were lovely. The staff were all helpful and attentive, everything was clean well presented
I would have like to be shown to my room on my arrival as it was quite difficult to find the different rooms and how they were numbered
Food & beer
Room very small
The premises is lovely, full of character. I am staying for a third time next week and all the rooms are different. Such a nice change from the clinical chain hotels. Complimentary breakfast was great.
No air conditioning Room on the road was noisy due to passing traffic - woken at 5.30am.
Everything from location, food and staff.
Quaint, old fashioned inn with a very attractive, well tended outdoor area
The room was a little small and could have done with a fan being provided during a very hot spell.
The staff were all welcoming and the hotel is very cosy.
There was no hot water in the morning.
Food Was very good.
Very small bedroom, No ventilation in bathroom which was very small. Cleanliness of room and bathroom could have been better.
Buildings, courtyard garden , dining , and room .
Parking facilities extremely poor .on arrival we stated we were in the public car park and is that ok . We were guided to the fact that a small car was available to the rear of the hotel . On returning to collect our bags had a look to see if we could change our parking and noticed there was room for about 4/5 cars and moved our car Into it . We used this area for sat eve sun eve . When we came to .leave on mon morn we found the Our car was blocked in by a large Car which was parked in the drive in not allowing us to pass dispite The fact that there was at least space for three vehicles in the parking area . Assuming this was Someone in a hurry and parked to visit the hotel or another premises we waited a while for them to return . With the car now packed We thought we should return to the hotel and ask if the car could be moved and quoted the model . Oh !! You are in the parking area of mr ------ and he has purposely blocked you in stated the hotel owner who actually guided to this Parking area ( as now turns out there is no parking on the hotel only the drive in where there was no room to park any anyway ) he went on to say we would have to Go and see him to let us out . He warned us that he was a nastey person and could be very obstructive if we were in his parking area . Why the hell did he Tell us to park in this area at the rear of the hotel if this was a problem ?? If he knew the situation why didn't he ask us where we parked and advised us further of the situation . I had to bow and scape to get my car out Only to find that my car wing was Scraped by the removal waste bin That was adjacent to my vehicle . All in all this was a bad end to what had been a wonderful weekend . Just a little care by the Hotel owner would have avoided all this if he had only been a bit more careful with his advise .
What a lovely little oasis this place was as we travelled North with our young child. a very well-kept little courtyard full of flowers makes this place a perfect stop-over. The people were just fabulous really homely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. food was great. just fabulous. the only downside was England losing in the world cup on TV, but I guess that was beyond their control ;-)
Ambiance and atmosphere. Also v good breakfast
Poor shower in bathroom, v slow service at bar, poor knowledge of bar staff, ran out of 2 beers and did not change barrel, v expensive drinks
Staff Food Choice of Ale's

The charm and character of the inn and the breakfast was good with lots of choice.
The creaky floorboards added character but also a good alarm call in the morning with other guests walking past the room, in fact I thought they were coming in the room it felt that close.
Charming English pub, delightful staff, great atmosphere. They can get rushed off their feet around dinner time. Not the best time to arrive, but it tells you how popular they are locally for food.
The courtyard was nice to sit out in, the breakfast and food in the restaurant was OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room itself was quite dim. Didn't realise the inn was situated on a one way system in the middle of the town.
Stayed here as we were at a wedding nearby. Lovely spacious grand room. Very homely. Staff all very pleasant
Well appointed traditional inn that retains an air of authenticity by not bowing to following modern hotels and gutting every room to make them the same. Staff are incredibly friendly. Very comfortable single room with walk in shower. Lovely breakfast with great choice of cereals, juices, etc. If I am back in the area again I would definitely book a room here again.
We stayed here for a family party a couple of years ago and liked it. We came again for two nights in May for another family gathering. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful on arrival and our room was extremely comfortable, albeit in the old style. The bathroom was modern and efficient. The dining room has been completely updated since our last visit and the breakfast was just as good. The cold home cooked ham is to die for as are their local sausages. We had dinner here on one night and our mixed family group all enjoyed their nicely cooked food, wine and pleasant service. The courtyard is nice to sit in with a cold beer on sunny days. What more do you need?
Great arrangement of pot plants in the inn courtyard. Very pleasant to linger in
Unexpected and rather noisy wedding party - so restaurant not available. But they did provide us with a bar meal of fish and chips at 9.30 pm which was excellent if rather pricey
Refurbishment Superb Patio area Fantastic Food quality great Quirky rooms and traditional Bar
Menu options / combinations -overuse of herbs spoilt good quality meats. Corridor littered with mattresses, hoovers and dirty linen - poor excuse offered. Sheets did not fit mattress and bed not made overnight just made to look as it had been.
Being out with the main building and was rather noisy the first night
