This is a traditional coaching inn. It has been sympathetically renovated and has bags of character. Very clean and comfortable.
The downside of 'ye olde' character is acoustics, both from adjacent rooms, and traffic noise thru single glazed windows.
Very tastefull food, served in a cozy environment with very friendly, helpfull staff. A real gem.
The rooms were noisy with commuter traffic from 5.30am. Could do with double glazing as the windows were quite old.
Comfortable room in great location. Friendly and helpful staff.
I rather disappointingly couldn't access WIFi at all during my stay. Also, the shower water pressure was very weak, little more than a trickle. While it was ok to clean my body in it would have taken the whole weekend to rinse my hair hair should I have needed to wash that. These are both areas which The Greyhound could greatly improve upon.
Location, nice pub below rooms.
Rooms were cold. Felt insecure. Bulb missing from lamp due to lamp shade burning from heat of the bulb! Very basic shower facilities. Being asked for payment of goods we hadn't had.
Location friendly staff and excellent breakfast available .
Breakfast was lovely
The room we got. I booked a twin bedroom well in advance, as we never sleep well in hotel doubles, and I checked all was ok on the day as we were arriving late. When we arrived Reception said no twin was available and offered us a one of two small doubles. Next morning we learned our much nicer twin room had been there empty all along! Really annoying!
Staff was cooperative to accept the request of checking in early. Very well placed.
Cleaning was not up to the mark. Cobwebs were seen in the room. Bath fittings were not intact. The sheets were not changed for four nights stay! Not worth the money...
Location was good for accessing both Oxford & Reading. Very good food in restaurant, especially breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful even at 12:00am when we asked to move rooms. Will definitely stay there again despite a few small issues.
Had a couple of issues, TV didn't work in the first room we were given, so moved to another which was not as good with sink in the bedroom and bathroom a bit tatty. Unfortunately we had to ask to be moved again at 12:00am because of a very loud noise, (sounded like a noisy fan), coming from the ceiling, could also be heard in the hall. Ended up back in the first room, but all fine in the end!
Lovely location and nice building with character.
Room 10 is next to loud unit meaning you can't keep window open due to noise.
Location,parking and breakfast.
Rather small room and noise from kitchen fan in evening and morning. Try to avoid room 8!
great atmosphere - such an old pub - thus great
a bit noisy at night as music at the bar goes on for quite a while
Easy to find, lots of parking. Menu uninspiring but food is excellent. especially kedgeree. Staff very nice, rooms clean & tidy.
sloping floor so rolled of bed almost (old buidling so floors uneven), noisy fan in kitchen (but thats only from around 6am)
Very noisey kitchen extract fan on roof below room Needs either repair or sound attenuation fitting.
Old style Nice staff Excellent meal
Staff helpful Traditional-history Food-beers
Noise from road and from pub if you need to get an early night
It was close to a venue we was going to, so great location for us.rooms were fine for what we wanted they was clean and good for the stay. Pub hotel with restaurant, breakfast was good with plenty of coffee.
The view we had was of a car park and bins.but we only needed a place to stay for the night.
The Inn was quite a surprise!
The booking said a full English breakfast included and we had to pay for it.
Good sized room with comfy bed and everything you could want. Friendly staff.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The dining area was tastefully designed.
Thought the bedroom seemed a little tired and could have done with a lick of paint.
Lack of facilities such as sockets, hairdryer. Towels for one person provided but none for the other. Lack of refreshments and toiletries available in room. Shortage of comfortable seating in lounge.
location and breakfast good
Front rooms noisy and sat ni noisy
The hotel is lovely, clean and very well presented. It's a shame for the quality of sleep, see other comment.
This hotel would be lovely for a wedding booking for the hotel or another group function for the reason being that they seem to cater until late night to outside customers. Our room was right above the bar and restaurant. The speakers are on the walls in every corner and as it gets later in the evening there are more people visiting and then the music goes up and it gets louder and louder. Finally late hours of the night when few people go to their rooms you hear everything even though they are chatting quietly! They should only rent out rooms to people in the parties below considering there are few rooms. Rooms are beautiful, is a shame you cannot sleep cause of all the noise. And we had a meal in the restaurant, perky setting but we were the only customers on a Saturday night at 8pm! Very strange. My husband couldn't eat his Greasy burger and my mushroom Wellington was way over priced at £16. They did not charge for the burger and we got £10 taken off our £75 room. Like I said a nice place but needs soon rethinking.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over at the Greyhound Inn. It was very comfortable and cosy and the staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay again if in the area.
The food was excellent and the bed very soft.
