Informal, yet very professional staff. Lovely bedroom and the bed was very high standard. Great bath! The quality of the food was fab, even though it was very busy. Breakfast was wonderful. All in all a lovely way to spend a night away from home. Top marks to all the staff, nothing was too much to ask.
Great pub with wonderful log fire, first class food. Good location, quiet and picturesque surrounded by lovely countryside. Bed very comfortable, roomy well fitted bathroom. Staff friendly and tried to be helpful.
Room was called a large double, but was actually quite small. It overlooked courtyard which was not very private, so had to keep curtains closed, making already dark room with poor lighting even darker. Unable to adjust high temperature of bathroom radiator as thermostat was broken off. Bedroom armchair was dirty and upholstery badly torn. No dressing table in room and only mirror was inside wardrobe.
Comfortable, cozy old pub in a lovely Sussex village. Young staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms, while not huge, are newly appointed and a pleasure to stay in.
The food in the restaurant is a bit pricy. Would recommend eating much the same menu in one of the atmospheric rooms in the bar.
Friendly staff. Warm cosy room with comfy bed & good quality bed linen. Breakfast was excellent. Lovely food in the restaurant too.
Room was a bit do all for the 4 poster bed & couldn't watch the telly very well as one of the posts obstructed watching it.
The charm of the building and friendliness of the staff
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I was very impressed with the manager as he managed to get me a room on the ground floor at very short notice, and he was very welcoming when we arrived. It is a hotel that I will be returning to in the future.
There was nothing that I disliked.
Some staff were very helpful. Love the buildings character.
Dinner was a big disappointment - below standard.
Nice rooms, great food, quiet and warm
Extremely comfortable bed with duck down duvet and pillows.
From the moment you walked in, there was a warm welcome. The room was beautifully decorated and whilst small had everything I needed for my overnight stay. I stayed with a colleague and also ate in the bar area and the selection of food and quality was excellent. The facilities, atmosphere and attention to detail is outstanding. Thank you
I cant find anything to fault at all. It was so nice that we have already booked our next stay! Perfect place for a short weekend break, less than an hours drive from London.
The layout is great, lovely old pub with great food and great beer garden. Room was small but well maintained.
Atmosphere, bathroom fittings, bottled water, the seating outside with a great view - basically everything! It was uplifting to stay there :-)
Staff, Beds, Harveys Ale prices for rooms were very fair good breakfast.
Food was very tasty but needed more vegetables/bread or potatoes as it was fairly rich. Prices for food were highish. Good wines but expensive
The friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and the excellent accommodation make it a pleasure to stay here.
Unfortunately the kitchen/restaurant staff were locked out first thing in the morning which meant I didn't have time to have a proper breakfast.
Old style Inn, good food and traditional bar with fire etc.Our Yorkie very welcome, thanks!
Excellent food, friendly staff, nicely decorated rooms with comfortable 4-poster beds.
Our room "Fletching" was over the bar and on the road side, very noisy until 5 am, so we only had 2 hours sleep.....
We loved this place! Beautiful village, very nice friendly pub, gorgeous garden & views. Nice room. We have booked to go again already!
Some bedrooms are small, we have booked a large double for next time.
The location for us was ideal as we were competing in the Spartan races in the next village along. The food was amazing and I just loved the authenticity of the Inn
Because it is in an old building you could hear the people in the room above moving around which disturbed us a little.
The hotel was excellent, delightful location, helpful and friendly staff and a wonderful feel of comfort and companionship in the atmosphere.
But....we were stranded in Gatwick, with need of overnight accommodation. We chose The Gruffin because booking.com said it was 10 miles away. In fact it was22 miles and our taxi cost us £60.
Friendly, helpful staff. Food and service at dinner and breakfast were excellent. Lovely views over the valley from outside bar tables.
Friendly helpful staff, great food wonderful old building. Morris men
Some areas of the building, hallways etc not very clean. Sticky carpets
Particularly Andrew in the restaurant, excellent service. Food very good
The wooden boards.....very 90s and please keep, these for cheese and maybe steaks, but nothing else. Very disappointed with the look of good food being spoilt on boards.....try eating pear and custard on one!
Food location bar.
