FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Ruins and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage site Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the Avon River overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-level Pulteney Weir and registered historic Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options include Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and brand-name stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath hotel, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath has charm & character, with lots of sights to visit eating and drinking in one of the many bars & restaurants on the way. The Thermae spa is a must visit. There are lots of quaint individual shops as well as the usual chain stores. Everything is within walking distance.

Bath is a beautiful historical city.

Bath is a beautiful historical city. We were very impressed with how clean the streets were and how well maintained the City is. Spoilt for choice for eateries and bars/pubs. A true gem. We didn’t use the public transport as it was so easy to get around walking but buses appeared to be regular and the transport links were good. Our only wish is that national rail offered quicker and better rail links from Bath to the North of the UK.

Bath is a beautiful city situated in a bowl, hence the natural springs. Walking around within the city is good, but if you want to venture out a little it becomes hilly. We love walking / running so any other form of transport is not something we go for. Architecture is stunning

The Roman Baths are a must visit.

The Roman Baths are a must visit. There is a lot more to see than you think and it takes a good 1.5 hours to appreciate, book in advance and go early. Assembly Rooms very interesting with an extremely knowledgeable guide. Fantastic turkish delight coffee shop. Pulteney Bridge was beautiful and don't forget to watch the gulls playing on the weir! Sally Lunn's eatery was worth the wait. Didn't have time to see Crescent and Circle on this trip. Will visit again.

Difficult to suggest places to visit as I lived in Bath for 4 years during the 80s, so this wasn't a sightseeing visit. Ate at Ponte Vecchio, which was really good if a little pricey. Easy to get around Bath on foot, but leave the car at home if possible.

Lovely location on the outskirts of Bath situated right on the bank of the river Avon. Although not visible to the hotel it is directly adjacent to a Park and Ride which gives easy, quick and cheap bus service to the centre of Bath every 15 minutes. Room 5 was very spacious with a large private balcony. The heating was particularly effective so the room was very warm for our winter stay. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and all of the meals we had, particularly the Sunday roast, were excellent.

This is a lovely hotel in the centre of Bath, with beautiful spacious clean rooms. Then Penhaligons toiletries were a lovely addition. The hotel also has a beautiful garden and terrace which serves possibly the best pizza ever. Notably this hotel has the loveliest of staff, who are obviously very happy and enjoying their work. You are looked after exceptionally well. There was nothing we didn’t like about this hotel. We have family in Bath and this is where we will be staying from now on.

Annabelle's Guest House is located a few minutes from the city centre and the station, the room has a lot of storage space and the bed was the best I have slept ever in any hotel accommodation. Sergio, the owner, is extremely kind, polite and really made our stay as comfortable as possible, he was always available to chat and he offered more than once to keep our bags even after we left. If we will return to Bath we will chose Annabelle's guest house again for sure.

Great location in upper Bath, which is a lovely part of town, very near The Circus and Royal Crescent. Our room ( Master Deluxe) was very spacious and comfortable, with a huge bathroom. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very good, with many choices. The hotel has several nice common rooms and lots of outdoor seating as well. Staff were all friendly. We also took advantage of the valet parking which was super convenient.

The location is right in the heart of Bath which was ideal for restaurants, bars, pubs and also the attractions in the day time. The room was modern and very clean with everything that we could have needed. We did select the windowless room but this was still fine as it was quiet in the hotel and the room was comfortable for us. Would definitely consider booking with Z Hotel again when coming back to the area.
