Less than 3 miles from the historic centre of Canterbury, this luxury B&B enjoys a rural setting within its own oak woodland.
Score from 287 reviews Superb
Comprised of Georgian town houses dating back to 1799, this charming, individual hotel in Ramsgate's historic garden crescent has amazing harbour and sea views. Two of the houses are adjoining.
Score from 387 reviews Very good
On the quayside, overlooking the river, in the historic port of Sandwich, this recently refurbished traditional hotel offers free Wi-Fi, an impressive restaurant and elegant, modern rooms.
Score from 190 reviews Very good
Lovely base for exploring eastern Kent. Great position by the river, nature reserves all around. Fantastic breakfasts and a wonderful steak dinner.
Place needs renovating/redecorating. But nevertheless quaint and characterful
the rooms were nice and big, the dinner in a box,the quirkiness of the place and location.
needs a lick of paint on the outside and some places in but as a whole very nice stay.
A lovely spot, ideal for us for a few days away, as we like bird watching so having the reserve over the road was great for an early morning walk, just ashame some of it was closed for flood damage, very relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff.
After closing the noise level below us seemed to increase, which was irritating.
The décor was great, dinner was very good & the breakfast was excellent. Enjoyed the popcorn too !
Friendly helpful staff, yummy breakfasts, spacious bedroom, fab location. Loved it!
Windows in bedroom didn't open; some carpets a bit shabby. But these were very minor issues.
clean rooms, good bed & good pub food . very friendly staff
Friendly staff - very willing to please.
The décor is a little shabby and cluttered.
Fantastic, friendly and welcoming staff
The bathrooms are very well loved
Lovely pub trying and mostly suceding in being different in a lovely location. Room was a good size but would benefit from a wardrobe and sofa instead of two uncomfortable chairs - there is plenty of room! The popcorn is amazing! The wonderful city of Canterbury is only a few miles away, this is a good, reasonably priced base.
Cocks crowing at dawn! The bare wood floors hardly insulate the sound from the pub below, wasn't an issue on a quiet Sunday night, and I don't go to sleep early, but might be an issue for some people. Breakfast was disappointing (orange juice not refilled, cheap streaky bacon, kitchen-buttered toast, small selection). No shelf in shower for shampoo etc. No simple steak option on the restaurant menu.
Good food; friendly helpful staff; riverside location.
No wardrobe, only hooks and hangers.
Good location, friendly staff, large room in pub with good surroundings including river, pigs, ducks, chickens, etc. Excellent breakfasts WiFi
Limited main meal choice and a bit pricey. Expensive beer but good choice of ales
Staff friendly, food good, location beautiful
Wasn't told after hours entry was at rear of building, panic for 15 mins had visions of breaking in. No hot water for shower in the morning. Extremely soft bed, knackered with sprung springs. Long wait for food due to being very busy.
The garden, comfortable beds. Balcony. Great breakfast owners very kind
Cleaning could be better
This is not a normal Inn with loads of attitude that makes a wonderful place to stay
on the river with boat trips/hire available, kids will love the pets kept by the landlord
beginning to look in need of redecoration
Enjoyed the quirkiness of the hotel. Lots to look at in the hotel. Friendly staff who were as quirky as the hotel.
Bed was a little uncomfortable. There was no headboard so during the night lost the pillows down the back.
the setting of the inn.
most of our stay. the room was dirty, bathroom filthy, bedroom, dust every where. pillows so hard an no case, they only wipe where the mop fits.the 1st breakfast waited 40mins found big black hair in food, food over cooked, the noise from trains all day an most of night 5am till midnight so only 5hrs sleep every day.table where breakfast served filthy, gaps in joints full with old food ect.i would NOT go back there ever,an i think they should clean the whole place, an health inspectors should give the whole place a check over as im sure it would FAIL.I have stayed in many places an never had to complain but feel this had to be said. If you want a clean an quiet place to stay please don,t go to this place.I was told that there would be a discount on cost as food had hair in but wen it came time to pay no discount untill i complained again.
The double room looking over the river, beautiful pub and surroundings, and friendly staff, nothing was a problem, and excellent breakfast, first class
Train noise every half hour, but that's the location so can't be helped, outside areas needed cleaning especially the front entrance
We only stayed for one night, but loved the place and the people. Lovely location, nice quirky atmosphere and decor, good food, all of which was greatly enhanced by the team, with specific mention for Megan, Katy, Louise and Jules. Good luck to the Grove Ferry and Yummy Pubs. I don't normally give 5 stars but these guys deserve it.
Breakfast and the team there were great
our room could have been cleaner
The food & the peaceful, relaxed setting. Very spacious room.
Lack of hanging space for towels in bathroom. Bathroom door didn't close properly.
We were unable to make our trip due to one of our family party being taken seriously ill and hospitalised in London. When we cancelled our stay, the duty manager could not have been nicer or kinder. We were not charged for the booking. Their attitude would make me keen to stay there another time, and recommend them to others. So kind and comforting.
Nothing to do with the hotel - being unable to visit on this occasion.
Rooms, staff, location and price.
Breakfast was not so good as the first time we stayed there.
Location with wonderful setting on the bank of the River Stour and next to Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. Good food, local beer. Very helpful and friendly staff. Tea AND coffee cafetiere in the bedroom! Nice big bathroom with a bath hoorah!
Our pillows had seen better days and we had no wardrobe or drawers in our bedroom. The window in our bathroom wouldn't open and the extractor fan didn't work.
A nice warm welcome, which was handy because we got lost finding the place.our room was superb which overlooked the river and the staff were very helpful.
I thought the drinks were very expensive, and the food although very nice, was a bit dear too.
