Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was cosy and comfortable. Excellent breakfasts and FREE parking!
The breakfast was very nice and the staff didn't bother us after the initial introductions
The amount of steps to the property were not advised in the description and some one with walking difficulties would have definitely struggled to access the property, The lighting at night outside was very inadequate and some of the corridor lights inside did not work.. Breakfast was 8-9 and we had to vacate our room at 1000am. There wasn't an hairdryer and the TV is far too small for the room. The bottom sheet on the bed was bobbly and well used and the drain in the chrome shower tray had turned green! There was insufficient shelving in the bathroom. The iron on the landing was burnt on the bottom
Friendly staff wonderful breakfast that set you up for the day
On arrival we were informed we did not have a booking for two nights, we could stay on thurs (Feb 12) but not fri (Feb 13). The Grove hadn't known about our booking until the morning of feb. 12. Subsequently all rooms were booked.
Hospitallity was very good Very handy to get into town
Clean room friendly people and fabulous breakfast
Good off road parking in secluded cul de sac. Excellent breakfast altered to suit us. Very friendly hosts and very knowledgeable about whitby. Will stay here again. Loverly warm room(icy cold wind outside)
We wanted large double so had 2 twin beds pushed together which left uncomfortable bit in middle but otherwise comfy
Staff and location
Room a bit small for two did book the king room for £70 but was moved to a double by your request was this double the same price?
The friendly atmosphere coupled to a spacious room, complete with free WiFi. The superb more than ample breakfast, to give a good start to the day. The close proximity of the town.
The front entrance steps, but in fairness little could be done to alter the approach to the hotel.
The location of the B&B is very good, an easy walking distance from Whitby town centre. The facilities were all very clean, and the tea things were replenished daily. It was lovely and warm, especially as we were visiting in January.

- Staff are brilliant - Breakfast was amazing - Distance is excellent. -
- Struggled to find the car park and unclear whether the car park actually belonged to the B&B or nearby residential housing.
Staff we friendly and the breakfast was good .
We paid extra for a king size bed , but the bedding didnt fit propely as fitted sheet wasn't big enough . Room was in need of recorating it was small and so was the bathroom .Seemed to be a lot of stuff abondoned in hallways , boxes , furniture and an old headboard . Car park was at the rear of the hotel via a drive along various roads and wasn,t very big .
The couple who owned the Grove were very pleasant and helpful.
The room was cold as we were at the top of the house, the owners did bring us a heater once I told them of the problem. Access to the hotel from the car park is really bad, with luggage and young children and icy ground it was steep and trecherous. The car park was difficult to find too, I didn't have sat nav so I had to park up and walk to the hotel and ask for directions to the car park this with two small children and on a very cold day was an unpleasant start. This should be noted in bold letters on their web page.
we could not fault anything b@b was run by a lovely family we were made very welcome
Nice and lovely room, breakfast and kind staff.Even has instant hot chocolate, very pleased.Nice location, not far from the train station, less than 10 minutes walk.
Towels are not very clean. Heater always stops working from late in the night and only restart working in the morning, makes the room very cold.
Very comfortable bed. Friendly owners. Excellent breakfast.
The access. Steep steps up from the road to the front door. The carpark is at the back of the property with even more steep steps up to it. Entry from there down to the hotel in the dark is not good and the one security light does not stay on for long enough. I think the steep steps access should be flagged up by the hotel so that people with restricted mobility, like myself are fore-warned.
Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.
The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The location is ideal just a 2 minute walk to the harbour. Breakfast was substantial and the landlady and her family were all very nice and accommodating; they stored my Whitby crab and kippers in their fridge overnight for us. The whole place was tastefully decorated and very clean. Highly recommended.
The grove was central for our needs, as first time visitors. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Having driving for 5 hours we found the hotel easily, but as first time visitors the car park was a proplem to find. Perhaps written instructions on booking would be beneficial.
Entry into premises not good due to all the steps leading to the entrance - smoking outside came into the premises not plesant
The breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked full English with cereals, juice and fresh fruit. Good freshly brewed coffee. Owners were very friendly.
The kingsize room was small and the bedding was too small for the bed and I would much prefer white bedding than dark colours. The access to the house involves a great many stairs and is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
Hi cleanliness of building Breakfast beautifully cooked Plenty of choice Comfortable clean bed
Steps to front of house and rear of house. Car park difficult to find badly signposted.Badly lit steps to front and especially rear no lights and quite a big drop which I nearly fell down. Bedroom dark with sloped ceiling
Breakfast ok Comfy bed Reasonably quiet Value for money Near the town Parking space
Would not be good if in wheelchair/low mobility Steep steps at front
Good location - No too central Good breakfast Parking - This is limited in Whitby
Noisy road at front Weak WIFi on top floor
