Located overlooking the city’s Roman walls, The Hampton by Hilton York is opposite York Railway Station and a 10-minute walk from the historic centre.
Score from 2053 reviews Fabulous
This Georgian mansion is in York city centre. It mixes original features with modern style and facilities, including car parking and free Wi-Fi. Its Piano Restaurant has won 2 AA Rosettes.
Score from 755 reviews Very good
Situated on the banks of the River Ouse, The Queens Hotel is ideally located for the many shops, restaurants and bars that the centre of York has to offer.
Score from 1300 reviews Good
This delightful and friendly family-run guest house is ideally located just a short walk away from York Minster and the historic and cultural centre of York.
Score from 340 reviews Very good
very good but it was a bet far out
Decor, warmth, attentiveness of staff.
No real dislikes, though it would have been nice to have food available in the evenings.
Very spacious rooms and en-suites, all individually furnished. Great choices for cooked and continental breakfast and stunning array of local preserves including sloe gin jam and ginger curd. Would definitely stay there again.
Breakfast was excellent. very good service.was travelling alone, felt safe and welcome.
House character Good breakfast Staff friendly and attentive Short walk to city centre
Bed mattress needs replacing unexpected and expensive car parking charge of £7 per day. (To be fair all of York is a parking rip off.)
Stayed for two night's in a standard double lovely room very comfortable, breakfast was included in the price very nice, staff very friendly,on site parking and a short walk into york.will definitely be back
A ten minute walk to the york shambles. Cosy accommodation. Helpful staff and a great breakfast. I will recommend to family and friends.
Room 26 could of had better ventilation in the bathroom (although it is an older building so not sure if they could?)
Staff so friendly & helpful nothing too much trouble
I enjoyed everything about staying at The Groves
That I wasn't there long enough
A good location. Near the town centre but away from the bustle. The breakfasts were lovely, whether cooked or continental. Rooms tidy and a reasonable size. Our holiday break was only for two nights but when we return we'll book about a week..
Breakfast menu good
Allocated top floor
The location was excellent
I chose the Groves having read reviews which classed it as 'superb' which I disagree with The room was for a disabled person and we are both able bodied I found the place to be a bit tired The pillows were lumpy For an establishment to be classed as 'superb' I would expect some nice toiletries but there were just pump action bottles Breakfast was ok but only one piece of bacon, sausage and egg which again, having paid£75 was a bit mean
No complaints at all, excellent in every way!!
We love the people and the situation in York.
It's a ideal location with not to far to walk,
Very clean and friendly and staff very helpful
Everything, relaxed and friendly and breakfast just right.
Shower needs a pump to give adequate flow and pressure.
great hotel with free parking, not far from centre, will use again
Friendly staff, comfortable room, good location, tasty breakfast
Having to come home
Location, value for money, breakfast, quality of room
Ideal location, just 10 minutes walk to the centre of York with parking. Very quiet & comfortable room, excellent breakfast.
It was a shame that although we stayed from 2nd to 4th Jan, the christmas tree had already been removed. We were on a christmas break and it would have been nice if the hotel felt a bit more festive!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Groves, the room was very clean and well equiped, the location was brilliant and the breakfast was excellent with a great variety. All the staff were very polite and helpful. We will definitely be going back again soon and we would definitely recommend. Well done x
Comfy Bed Spotless Rooms Extra warm on a cold winters night Great location, 10 minute walk from centre of York
Room was tiny (standard double) Tad on the expensive side £90 for the night with parking More like a 3 star than a 4 star
Comfort, location and an excellent breakfast. Friendly and very welcoming.
The whole atmosphere at the hotel was perfect. Our young children were made to feel very welcome by the all of the friendly staff from the cleaners to the owners. Hotel situated in a quiet picturesque road just a short walk from the city center. Would highly recommend to anyone.
The full English breakfast was a little on the small side but delicious none the less.
it was in a good location and only a 10 minute walk from the main centre. All the staff were friendly and if any problems came, they were sure to sort it out their and then.
the only one down side that we noticed was at breakfast time, when one of our party had finished eating the staff would come and clear the finished plate away before all other people on our table had finished, would be nice if they could wait until everyone had finished eating then clear the plates away.
The room, the staff, the food and the location was just spot on.
