Staff very attentive. Fantastic breakfast. Would definitely stay here again .
Staff were so helpful, room really comfy and cosy. Food great, plenty of choice for breakfast. We are definitely going back.
Breakfast was good, room was very clean, bathroom was excellent, staff were helpful. Free cancelation
No fresh or dried fruit at breakfast. The fruit juice was not fresh. The bed was soft. Some of the paintwork was scuffed and the carpet was stained.
Location good. Staff very attentive and helpful. Good breakfast. Good night's sleep.
More b&b than hotel. Room a bit tired and dated. Not exactly cheap.
Very friendly staff, very helpfull, Breakfast excellent ,served with a smile. Rooms comfortable and clean. Good parking.
Very clean, nicely decorated room, great location, being an easy 10 minute walk to the city but quiet residential area. Very nice breakfast and lovely staff.
Our room on the 2nd floor was very small and a bit claustrophobic, very hot (despite fan) with only a small window high up. Mattress comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and awful, all in all didnt get much sleep. We would stay again but would request a larger room. Parking area was very cramped and sometimes no spaces available.
The hotel is in a great location and only 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre but located far enough out to be quiet. The breakfast was tasty and I would highly recommend the continental option as the fruit salad was delicious although my partner enjoyed his fry-up too! The hotel and room was clean and comfortable with a great shower and the staff were really friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you so I would definitely stay here again.
There is nothing to criticise or fault with this hotel.
Very well maintained hotel a not unreasonable walk from the Minster. Car park a definite advantage. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely quiet location. The B&B is much more of a small hotel but retains the feel of a friendly B&B. Beautiful decoration, very helpful and informative staff, comfortable room with more than adequate facilities. Had an excellent nights sleep - to the point I slept in and didn't get time to order the full English breakfast BUT the continental choice was lovely, if not huge!
I liked the availability of car park, room I had was peaceful and comfortable (called the cottage) was separate from main hotel. Breakfast was nice to. The location was fab, down a leafy side street and was 10min walk to the Minster and about 15 to train station.
Not much to say was bad, room in the cottage (where I stayed) could do with a bit of a facelift maybe.
The facilities for disabled people were excellent in our room (35) although as yet we weren't in need of them. Excellent breakfast
Only a 10 minute walk into centre of York, onsite parking, lovely breakfast, clean rooms, really good powerful shower, staff very accomodating. Will definitely stay here again.
Breakfast, location, on returning to The Groves after dinner, companionable nightcaps in the bar
our room a little on the small side
We were given a very comfortable and spacious room - The Bootham Suite. The hotel is located far from any traffic noise in a quiet cul-de-sac, within easy walking distance of city centre attractions.
What a wonderful place to stay! It's quiet, being down a cul-de-sac; the hotel is a large Victorian House with outbuildings. Very clean and thoroughly recommendable. Very pleasant and obliging staff. Ten minute stroll into the city. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
the staff were very helpfull and friendly, the hotel was spotless and clean, the breakfest was very good, with lots of choice.Top marks allround and would galdly recommend the hotel to everybody
Quiet, good bed, nice freshly cooked breakfasts. Helpful staff who sorted out my internet problems and waived the fee.
Had to agree to pay a fee for internet which then didn't work for the first night.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample with plenty of choice, including vegetarian. The bathroom was very small but had a nice walk-in shower. Might have been because it was a single room. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only bit I didn't like was that the window was high up over the bed. In order to close the window a bit, I had to stand on the bed and to close the curtains, I not only had to stand on the bed, but had to use my walking stick to pull them across.
Everyone was helpful and breakfast was excellent staff was always so helpfull
Very nice and efficient staff.
smokers sat outside back part of the house chatting/making noise until around 0100. There should be a time limit on the use of the smoking area.
hotel is a bit dated, and could use some renovation.
It is a bit pricey for what it is.
Staff went above and beyond what might have been expected during a medical emergency and provided generous care and support
Comfortable, attentive staff, close to centre with free parking
The staff were so helpful and friendly
This hotel has very friendly and helpful staff, who were pleased to give information about bus times to places outside York and directions on how to get to the bus stop. The car park is spacious and best of all, it is less than 10 minutes walk to the Minster. Breakfast portions are generous and well presented. I would definitely come back here.
