Amplasată într-o dumbravă liniştită mărginită de copaci, această pensiune mare de 4 stele se află la 10 minute de mers pe jos de centrul oraşului York şi oferă parcare gratuită, camere cu baie privată şi facilităţi de bar/lounge. Clădirea principală datează de la sfârşitul anilor 1800, iar The Groves încă păstrează câteva detalii originale fermecătoare, precum scara grandioasă splendidă şi ferestrele decorative. Barul este deschis zilnic până la ora 23:00. Oaspeţii se pot relaxa şi pot citi ziarele cotidiene, având la dispoziţie pe tot parcursul zilei o selecţie de beri şi vinuri. The Groves was very welcoming - all staff were polite and friendly. Room clean and comfy. Ample parking available. Breakfast excellent. Good location - just a short walk to York city centre. Thoroughly recommend.

very clean, friendly staff, close to city centre, wonderful breakfast plenty of choice. actually stayed in york approx 18 to 20 years ago at a hotel called savages, was amazed to learn was exact same hotel only had changed hands. very good would definitly stay again. was absolutly fine once had put heating on as it was quite cold, but this was not a problem

A very pleasant and well-managed guesthouse not far from the centre of York. My room had recently been renovated and was perfect. The staff, particularly those who served the excellent breakfast and those who serviced my room could not have been kinder and more welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly,nothing was to much trouble.The food was excellent,the rooms were decorated to a very high standard,could not fault the Groves in any way.

The room was very quaintq. The bed was the most comfortable one during our entire stay in the UK. Many stairs including spiral staircase. The manager was very helpful with our luggage and did make sure we could climb stairs before assigning the room.

Staff were welcoming. Room was clean and had excellent ensuite facilities. Breakfast was very good. Thank you for keeping on the central heating even in May - the warmth was much appreciated on a cold, wet evening.

The friendliness of the staff. The comfort of our luxury suite. The room was very spacious and kept very clean. Breakfast was especially good to start the day off. Nice and close to the city for us to explore each day. Close enough to visit and have a meal in the city after looking at the sights before going back to the Groves.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Welcoming and comfortable hotel with nice breakfasts. Good location. Our room was on the small side, felt a bit pokey compared to the other rooms in the hotel. For the price not quite as luxurious as it could have been.

We had been on the road for a month and the welcoming was wonderful for a change.they know customers are their business and act accordingly.all the staff we came in contact with could not do enough for us and especially taking the time to have a chat and laugh.the room was outstanding by all measures and easy to maintain.the safe in the room did not appear to have instructions and seemed not secure so we had to carry our securities with us .since leaving we have recommended the groves as a no1 place to others as we moved on.it's the best standard b and b and many others would do well to follow their standards. We loved the breafast and it's the place to be. ,

It is close to York city centre (a 10-minute stroll brings you inside the medieval city walls) yet situated in a quiet street well away from town traffic. Everything about my stay, from the quality of the room to the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, was first class. The Wi-Fi computer reception was good quality and fast, and cost only a nominal fee.

really good standard of refurb done-complimented owner on his taste! It was comfortable and relaxing with every need catered for. The staff were really pleasant and friendly but not intrusive; you could come and go as you pleased with no questions asked. The room was a little small but was completely fine and had everything we needed. The legendary breakfast lived up to it's name-really good quality food, perfectly cooked and plenty of choice. We could only imagine how good a restaurant would be with the same chef! Overall we found it to be a really nice place to stay with great standards and lovely decor- wouldn't hesitate to go back.

It suited our requirements. We were a fairly large group (10) who wished to stay in the same hotel, within walking distance of the walled city, price reasonable, on-site parking and quiet area. All these were met. Breakfast was good and rooms comfortable. Would certainly consider again.
