The staff where happy to help at all times and nothing was too much trouble to them. I had a fall whilst visiting york city centre and the staff went out of their way to help me.also the hotel is only 10 mins from the centre of york as stated in their on line brochure and it is flat and easy to walk into the city centre. Breakfast was always piping hot and plenty of it and clean towels etc everyday. Will definately be going back and loads to see in york .

We went with my 12 year old son and my wife's parents.The rooms were excellent and the breakfast was first class. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The walk into York is only 10 minutes along a straight road. we would recommend this hotel to everyone!

A very clean, well equipped hotel and professionally run by friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Only a 10 minute stroll into the centre of York. We would definitely stay there again. Good value for money.

The location is lovely. A short walk towards Pertergate and York Minster. There are a few handy cosy pubs en route which was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast lovely and the room very clean andcomfortable . Just a smell if paint but due to it's refurbishment it couldn't have been helped.

Quiet location nearby to City Centre. Pleasant accommodation with helpful staff. Perhaps breakfast could be served longer rather than finishing at 9am. But found nothing adverse.

I stayed triple room at 29-31 August 2011. I think Grove is great Hotel. Stuff were very friendly they help a lot. Great location. Room was very clean.I want to stay this hotel again.

We liked the friendliness of the staff and the location was brilliant for the city. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre. Even though it is close to a busy road it is very peaceful. The bathroom had been refurbished to a high standard. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. The owners are really lovely and they were knowledgeable about the area. The decor of the commom areas is dated but this does not detract in any way from the loveliness of the building. The owners are undertaking redecoration and recarpeting this winter which will 'lift' the common areas. Do not let this put you off.

Clean, comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff., serving an excellent breakfast. Free onsite car park and only ten minutes walk from York Minster and the Shambles.

The Groves was well situated for a 10min flat walk to the city centre. The Groves was a warm and welcoming hotel. The standards where high, accommodaton comfortable, breakfast excellent. We had the quad room which is a room within a room with a shared bathroom with two Tvs. It was ideal as we where travelling with an 8 year old and 13 year old.

The triple room we had was large with comfortable beds and a large shower room. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.The city centre was only a five minute walkaway.

My wife and I stayed at the groves because we went to York races, the location was great to the races and into town the room was really nice we stayed in the new part, the breakfast was lovely and the staff really friendly we will definately stay again.

Friendly staff. Freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to food being kept hot. The rooms were smaller than I had expected but as we were out so much, it wasn't really an issue.

“As soon as we stepped through the front door we were welcomed by the manageress and shown to our room , upon opening the door to our room the wow factor hit us , it was spacious ,luxurious we didnt want to leave it, the manageress asked us if we required any thing more she later walked in with our complimentary toiletries this was a christmas stay and a box of chocs and fudge were on the table in our room, the breakfast staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble we would highly recommend staying here, the breakfast is delicious its tucked away in a quiet street, beautiful beautiful place ” Linda, Nottinghamshire |
