The Groves    

Rooms very clean and nicely furnished, loved the shower. Breakfast was basic but very nice, lovely selection of jams and marmalades. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel was ideally situated in a quiet street off the busy main road and within walking distance of city centre.

Location within 10 minutes walk of city. Very quiet [room 25] - no sound from other rooms or road. Everybody very friendly. Excellent breakfast and service great even though hotel was completely full.

The relaxed but personal service offered. Good comfortable accommodation. A very good breakfast. Parking for our car. Quiet but near a city entrance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The weather

The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for you. The rooms were spacious and clean with little touches that made the groves stand out from the rest. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for December!

I have been to the Groves many times and always enjoy my stay at a nice and budget price hotel. Being located in a cul-de-sac the hotel is away from the main road and is very quiet and peaceful, yet is only a short walk away from the the city centre. The staff are all helpful and courteous making my stay more enjoyable and its always a shame when I have to leave.

Very convenient to the city, staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Would make a return visit. It was our daughter and her husbands first visit to York, and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

Lovely quiet setting within a short walking distance of the centre. Delicious breakfast and very friendly staff, although the room was small it was very comfortable and very clean. We were only there for one night but would definitely return for a longer stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Car park spaces were a sensible size; much appreciated. Breakfast (continental) was excellent, and using locally made jams from farms was a lovely, and very tasty, idea.

Bedroom comfortably but headboard was covered in dust and shower cubicle needed resiliconing. I did comment on shower on our departure so hopefully this has now been rectified.

This is, an excellent hotel, good location, friendly staff, first-class breakfast, clean, comfortable, car-parking, fully recommendable.

Room 21 is directly above Reception area, and chatter first thing in the morning can be disturbing. A false fire alarm at 7.30am whilst I was showering was annoying, but management delivered a letter of apology soon after which was quite professional.

the beauty and history of the old house..the comfort, cleanliness, lovely friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfasts, and all the many mod cons, luxurious little touches and the amount of space in the Bootham Suite we stayed in.... It was just perfect..
