Pleasant staff. Not far from lovely walk along river.
Location of room was within 6 feet of beer garden! It was a warm evening and our room was hot. There is no AC, so we had the window open. The noise continued until after midnight. There were people above us and we could hear every footstep and noise! Shower door jammed shut.
The bed was comfortable the bathroom was larger than most.
The room was very small. But OK for over night. You could hear people moving upstairs very creaky floor boards.
Sheets were clean .
Dirty, run down, breakfast basket was only enough for one person not two, poorly built with no soundproofing. No wifi. I could go on, but I won't.
Nice 'village' type pub close to Maidenhead. Very pleasant staff and very helpful. Also dog friendly! Nice atmosphere to the pub. We enjoyed our stay even though we were really only sleeping there for a party nearby!
The sign outside The Grenfell Arms says 'Bed & Breakfast' but no cooked breakfast available??? Also, there is a beer garden to the rear of the pub, which could be really nice....but is actually a bit of a mess and not cared for at all - hmmmm??? Overall would still recommend for local overnight stay.
The floorboards in the accommodation above my room (Rm 4) were very squeaky and noisy. The occupier also left the TV or radio on ALL NIGHT!!! I got very little sleep. I was very angry. Never again.
Too steep stairs up to room. Problem with leak when you took a shower. Creaky floorboards.
Very comfortable bed, quiet location.
very basic room and facilities. No soap in bathroom. 1 teabag, 3 sachets of coffee!!
Location to motorway and London
Poor furniture, poor layout. No one on site after 11pm till 4pm the next day. No breakfast and no where to get it locally in walking distance.
it was close to where we wanted to be and the menu outside promised food whenever we came back. The e-mail said they were there for us 24/7.NONE OF THAT WAS TRUE. We arrived early and although we were given our key ,they said they had no record of our booking and have you ever stayed at a bed and breakfast that didnt do breakfast.
There was a breakfast basket in our room. The muffin was mouldy and when i took it to the barman his response was yes it is. The menu outside the bar promised food but would you eat in a bar where only 2 people were having a drink +it was the same barman earlier
Clive and Beth were very gracious hosts, with them and the staff making us feel right at home. Great food, great beer. What else can you ask for!!
The beds were ok and shower was ok
No breakfast Mould round shower Bedroom to small for a twin No wifi Pub drinks exspensive £4 a pint
Room rather dated and could do with a good clean
Very friendly, very helpful
A convenient location.
A very small room , shower door was jammed shut on arrival.
The location and the pub.
For £70 a night I expect clean and a functioning bathroom. What I got was a toilet that didn't flush properly & was not securely fixed to the wall. and there were cobwebs all over the bathroom. The fence and the area outside the annex which housed the rooms was tatty (I am being generous here). There was an upside down tolley next to my room which looked like it had been there for a long time.
Clive & Beth and the whole staff (especially Rick the Chef) were very helpful, and we will stay there again.
Management was amazing. It was an anniversary trip and the owner was so kind and welcoming, he gave us a free drink and a surprise bottle of prosecco in our room with a lovely hand-written note for the special occasion. We were treated like Royalty really! The owner was fabulous, interesting, lovely, gave us loads of information and recommendations, really good to chat to and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. He even let us have a long lie-in past the official check-out time :) The pub goers were really friendly. I have heard their food is wonderful; we tried their ice-cream and it is really luxurious! We were in the area for an anniversary dinner at Heston Bloomenthal's pub, The Hind's Head nearby so we didn't eat there and we were on the verge of staying in one of the hotels nearby (others were much more expensive), but we are so so glad that we decided to stay here instead. The Grenfell Arms has a fabulous selection of ales. Top quality, service and welcoming guests is really important to the hosts. The rooms were set aside from the pub in a different, quiet area. There was a nice heater in the room and it was lovely and warm for us when we got back in the evening. I have never had a hotel/ B&B experience like this ever. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We would love to return and if we are in the area again we definitely will. Thank you so much for such a lovely time, it meant so much to us on our special occasion trip. The price of the room was very reasonable indeed for the treatment we got, we felt very special and it was a lovely sociable pub with very sociable and friendly owners and the experience is one we will remember for a long time.
There was a little bit of mould in the bathroom that could have easily been wiped away and the bathroom could have done with a little updating but this was such a minor thing at large. The room was clean and very comfortable and had everything we needed. I have to say again, the hosts really looked after us.
very friendly staff. Room/bedding etc very clean. Off road parking. Hot water! good shower. very central to main routes. Easy to heat room.
no soap supplied. In need of small maintenance jobs,
Clive was great
The bar staff
No hot water for evening shower. Morning shower was ok. Toilet seat broken. Kitchen was closed in the morning for breakfast. Better value at Premier Inn at £49. Sorry chaps. Won't see me again
Rooms are basic but comfortable. Lovely staff and great food
Room a little cold
Good location, parking facility, Clive and his wife made us feel very welcome, we had a few beers good food, and a lot of laughs, some accommodation has steep stairs
The Grenfell Arms was in a good location for what we needed. The opening hours were a little strange in this day and age, as we left the bar at 11 o'clock all the lights, inside and out were turned off and the staff locked up and went home.
Haphazard booking in, the room, which was in a different building, was given a quick check to see if it was ready, we were then given the key. The bed & bedding were fresh & clean but the rest was tired & scruffy. The bathroom door didn't close properly, the Lino flooring was wet around the toilet & split in some corners, it made the room feel dirty. The toilet seat was broken. In the morning the pub was locked up with a sign to put the keys through the letter box. We had a phone call that afternoon to debit our card for the stay.
Location and price
no breakfast, drum like floors -when the person upstairs gets up you hear it!
Great location for meal in Bray at much better price than staying in Bray.
Very small room which wasn't well heated & was draughty. Quilt on bed wasn't really big enough for the bed.
