The building is lovely. The food superb. The staff were good. Location excellent.
Reception is a busy noisy bar. Car park is 10/15 min walk. Bar is very noisy right under rooms until late. Overpriced not value for money at 0ver two hundred pounds per night
Food staff atmosphere great. Location great. Pub area very friendly. Would recommend. Needs a makeover in bedrooms.
Rooms need decorating curtains ragged needs a bit of a makeover. Noisy from bar until a door was put up between our room and bar.slept well second night. Bathrooms need update little things like no soap dish etc.,
room wasnt executive as described clean but moderate
Breakfast was excellent, staff courteous and happy to help
Parking was a bit of a nightmare, unclear as to where we were able to park.
Great pub, with nice beers. Room was clean and larger and bed was big. On suite was clean.
Busy when we arrived, 3 in the afternoon and it took sometime for anyone to show us to our room. Ground floor room had people drinking and smoking outside the window which was unpleasant.
Lovely couple of nights stay....great location and atmosphere
the noise when we got there. somebody dropped a glass I ask that's a good welcome all I got was the races are on today.so we headed out for a meal when we got back to are room the noise out side was bad it was all night no sleep at all. don't think we will be going back there
The character of the building and interior is very fitting to the ambiance of york. Upon arrival we were delt with by a professional and helpful young man. He showed us up to our room which we found was more than what we expected.
The slopping floor took awhile to get used to. More info should be given to guests on the facilities of the Inn. Staff to be more assertive when they see customers waiting around.
Saving grace right outside york minster
On arrival bar full of drunks struggle to book in police called later food average lots of noise outside would have expected better for the cost
Old charming Pub with a lot of character. Great breakfast in the morning. Great view and location.
Room was right over the Pub so a lot of noise at night. Ask for a room in their back cottage as that would be quieter.
As we began going out together on Guy Fawkes night I booked this as a anniversary surprise for my husband. He loved it. We loved the quirkyness of the place and the fact that it was lit in the evening with only candles and gas lamps. We had a lovely meal there and would happily go back in the future. The location was perfect for exploring.
The darkness cleanliness Shower flexible water pipe ingrained with dirt shower door falling apart Ashtrays outside emptied once in two days I would not stay again or reccomend to anyone else
Accessibility if driving to hotel impossible. Noise.
History of building, location absolutely perfect, very comfortable room, good wi fi
convenience to all amenities. cosy. very popular inn, busy.
a nice cup of tea in morning was in a cracked cup.
Location is excellent and comes with a great historical story.staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the food is excellent. Rooms are above the busy bar and restaurant but the noise is not off putting or excessive. Have already booked up to return in six months. Bed was very comfortable and the room was well equiped.
Beautiful hotel with lots of character Rooms luxurious and olde world. Breakfast delicious Four poster bed lovely.
TV kept losing signal, but as didn't go to really tv not too bad. Due to no fault of the hotel the noise from drunken revellers was rather bad at night. Maybe ask for a room on the back next time we stay or midweek night may not be so bad. Room red hot! Windows wide open.
Great location. Staff were friendly and helpful Excellent free Wifi
In Room 1, was very warm (room adjacent to boiler room), poor ventilation, directly above beer garden and in need of a really good clean.
Location good and staff friendly
This is a very noisy tatty bar with rooms. music extremely intrusive in room. Unable to open drawers and no hair dryer. They did not respond to complaint.
The facilities were great and the meal in the restaurant was delicious!
Weak wifi in our room and a bulb missing are the only things that weren't perfect about our stay.
History of the place was incredible! You get to experience the best of a historical building in the aesthetic appeal of the room, the staircase, and the pub/restaurant on the main floor- coupled with great amenities! Will be talking about the place for awhile.
The location. It's opposite York Minster. Within easy walking distance of The Shambles. The staff were polite.
The location of our room. It was No.11 in the courtyard where people sit out to drink and smoke. It's very noisy until 10.30pm when people are supposed to move inside. Doesn't always happen. Soup spoons each morning to eat cereal. They had to wash some teaspoons for us as there weren't any clean ones! Breakfast is between 8-10 but by 9am they had run out of items. The first morning we had to do without but the second morning staff went out to buy items. The staff were always polite but I've never stayed in a hotel that appeared to be so unconcerned about these little things which are actually very important for guests. The remote for the tv wasn't working but they replaced it. The shower door was faulty but they didn't bother fixing it. I'd only recommend this place for it's location and if you don't mind noise.
Great atmosphere good resteraunt and helpfull staff
Room was a little on the small side but that a side very cosy
Location excellent and staff very polite and helpful. English breakfast was nice but selection of fruit not so good
For the price I really was expecting a really good room with good quality furnishings, bedding etc. the laminate floor in our room was sticky, bedding had holes in along with stain marks. Bedside light not working and chandelier could have done with a clean. Bathroom nice and spacious. Just felt things were a bit grimmy which shouldn't be the case when spending so much money.
Great central location Friendly staff Great selection of beers Good cooked breakfast Excellent lunch/dinner
Buffet breakfast - not as described Tired bedroom furnishing - only one bedside lamp - a brass rail missing from the bed Of the four nights that we stayed our bed was not made properly - the duvet was pulled over but the bottom sheet not straightened!
