The atmosphere, music,food
The hotel was really atmospheric, good good and attentive staff. Location was really good.
By sat nav it was difficult to get to hotel as it tried to take you into roads that were closed off by bollards.
The inn is situated in such a lovely part of the city. Fantastic to have the Minster on the doorstep. Sightseeing Tour Bus only a couple of minutes' walk away. Short walk into the centre of town and all its attractions. The inn also serves delicious food - the breakfast had the freshest tasting tomatoes I've ever had in a hotel, just perfectly warmed, and the eggs, bacon, croissants etc were very tasty! Staff were friendly and attentive whilst remaining unobtrusive. Would definitely stay again.
Customer service 2nd to none staff where impeccable
Room dusty more attention to detail needed
Atmosphere was great, rooms really nice and breakfast was lovely
A young bar staff took my luggage to me room 20 yards away and wouldn't. Leave until we gave him some money and for this reason we will not be returning nor will I recommend it
Location fantastic. Staff ace. Breakfast amazing. Buzzing bar downstairs, bang opposite belfrey at York Minster - if you don't like happy Bella on a Sunday morning stay elsewhere but I was enchanted by them. Completely Central, most things either next street or 5 minute walk away. Highly recommend Wackers chip bar round the corner and ONeills for live music.
Everything but table availability in the restaurant.
Could not get a table in the restaurant on the first night or before 9pm on the second (final). Should either have priority for guests or make it clear that a restaurant booking has to be done however many days in advance.
The breakfast and the candle light… très atmosphérique
The beers were perfectly drinkable but not quite knockout.
The hotel is everything you could want for a short break in York, rather than staying in one of the well known chains with no character.
Fantastic location right on the shambles opposite York minster. Brilliant little pub with rear food!! Would definitely stay again!!
The location is in the heart of it all. The hotel floors slope like crazy but it adds to the charm. Comfortable beds, nice warm rooms (we went in February)
The room was beautifully decorated with an amazing big 4poster bed! Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The pub itself was cosy and quirky with great food and live music on an evening.
Although bathroom was nice and clean (average), when booking I was lead to believe that the type of room we had booked came with either a free standing bath or a power shower. The evening noise levels are quite high. Although it did not bother us, it may have other people. The noise was from the street outside and the bar downstairs. Wifi password was not provided and wasn't in the hotel information booklet.
The general atmosphere, the very helpful and friendly staff, the excellent food and the entertainment (Seasick Steve lookalike - brilliant). The "Attic Suite" is good fun -but the beams (numerous) do require you to have a good sense of humour.
The attic suite has extremely low beams and we are very tall. However, we decided to make the most of it and took lots of comedy shots of walking through doors on our knees and "Mrs. Overall" impersonations! There was a slight aroma of "drains" although the rooms were very clean. The bed settees in the back rooms were extremely uncomfortable and need replacing. We only paid £99 (Sunday night offer) - and I wouldn't have wanted to pay more - although we really enjoyed our stay and had a good laugh.
The room was tiny for an exec double and the bed was so uncomfortable we hardly slept
Lovely place to stay with friendly staff very enjoyable
The Guy Fawks Inn has so many good things going for it that it's hard to list them all. The location is superb, right in the heart of the city and 5 mins walking distance to everywhere. The staff are very helpful and cheerful. The Inn itself is very quaint and oozes character & history, right down to the gas lamps on the walls of the bar & restaurant! Talking of which the food & real ales were superb. Next time I'm going to York I will definitely book in at the Guy Fawks Inn again.
Old world charm with modern amenities
WiFi signal is rather weak in the bedroom.
Good atmosphere,Good location,Helpfull &Friendly Staff,Nice range of Beers,Love the Candles.
Fantastic weekend break.we had a lovely room. And staff where very helpful.will be back again
Great location, Helpful staff, Great service, Good bar, Great room
We liked everything about our stay here, will defo come again
Location was excellent right on the doorstep of the Minster. The hotel is a wonderful old building with lots of original features and a real history. Food was very good, as was the beer.
Parking arrangements were very confusing. The wifi was very hit and miss and the password should have been made available in my room. Otherwise everything was very good.
Amazing location and good breakfast
Thin walls if you have noisy neighbours
