It had been 20 years since we last stayed there. And I'm pleased it was just the same. The decor was just how we imagined it. The character of the hotel is like no other. The rooms now have 4 poster beds and very comfy and clean. It was different staff obviously and they were polite and helpful. The food was awesome. Highly rate it :)
Central location Atmospheric bar and lounge Good selection of beers etc
Service at breakfast was slow 45 mins for cooked items Bathroom in the "deluxe Dble room " was small at best
the authentic features Staff, very pleasant and helpful. Food - really good
some of the floorboards do require repairing.
good location，just step out to york minster 。breakfast is delicious
roomspace is a little bit small
Food and service good Excellent location
Very cramped double room with no view although very clean Room overpriced
Quirkiness, traditional original features, friendly staff, lovely bedroom and bathroom. Evening meal excellent. Great location for centre of York and right opposite the Minster. Car Parking facilities five minutes walk away. Really enjoyed the stay.
Really enjoyed my time at guy fawkes inn, staff were really friendly and helpful, room was lovely and food was great, would definately stay again in the future
Great position with excellent outlook
Small room, poor staff, terrible, slow breakfast and seemingly very bad value for money.
The whole atmosphere of the place is amazing. Very highly recommended
No wi fi
candles, ambience and coziness, food was excellent and the four poster overlooking minster was fantastic.
court yard garden is a lovely space which could do with a little TLC
The location was superb. The building was very historic and staff very friendly. The breakfast was very good.
The room was tiny with a small old uncomfortable bed. It was very expensive for what you got.
Location and historical building
An hotel with history and character!
Cannot fault anything
Room lovely. Breakfast lovely. Hotel great. Decor good. Staff friendly.
Could have done with some air con or a fan. The room was very warm. The bed linen had some stains on.
location was excellent,quaint bedroom
not very clean!!! very poor shower for size of bathroom,
Good location. Room was good standard. Staff helpful. Courtyard cleared of bar guests at 10.30 as promised.
Check-in was haphazard as done at front bar. Pub part too noisy and too cramped for us to use. Courtyard was noisy when in use. Luggage in and out an issue.
the unique atmosphere, fantastic location, friendly staff.
room very warm
Good location and nice old building. Great food! The Hotel is right in the centre of York.
Like most hotels in the centre parking is a little difficult - car parks are a little walk away.
The staff were very helpful and nothing could be too much trouble, especially for Rich and Andy, could not fault these to young men. The bed was most comfortable and had 2 good night sleeps. Nice breakfast both days and food in the restaurant both days. :) On the whole a very pleasent stay, thank you to all your staff.
A bit expensive on the whole, menu in restaurant could be doing having things like Gammon, scampi, just every day things, or a change of menu and more choice. having nuts and again normal flavour crisps at the bar, especially when you are having a drink or two or three :)
Every thing , food fantastic , staff very helpful
I feel the hotel needs a re-vamp or upgrade the room 10 was in good condition well done
The idea u have to be served over the bar to book in and due to that not enough attention given to paying residents sorry
Lovely building and well cracking room. Great to be able to be so close to the centre abd York Minster across the road. Staff really friendly and helpfull
The room was on a Main Street and was effected by noise all night. Also fire alarm went off, there was no evacuation of the building and 1 member of staff was trying to find out how to resolve while the fire alarm carried on for at least 20mins.
I liked the fact we could walk everywhere without the worry of traffic enjoyed the trip on the River ...and some of the old sites in York to view
I did not like the fact that the Minster charges people to go in ...lets hope there is not a second coming ...The Church's will be the first to .. suffer shame on you ....for charging ....who gave you the right to do so ...
Proximity to the Minster - we were singing the evening services. The quirkiness and atmosphere.
Having to vacate the courtyard at 10.30pm.
