The Staff, Service and food all good. Some areas were very scruffy, I am not sure that I would re visit due to this.

What a wonderful place! The hotel is situated in a most beautiful spot in Wales right on Devil's Bridge. We saw the waterfall from our bedroom. Although the weather was bad, we enjoyed our stay enormously. The food was fabulous and we ate in for the two nights we were there. As it's very close to Aberystwyth, it was a good place to stay for our shopping trip.

The location of the Hafod at Devils Bridge is quite spectacular. It was very quiet when my son and I stayed last Sunday, but the staff were very welcoming and we had an enjoyable evening in the adjoining bar. Our breakfast next morning was excellent and very relaxing.

The staff made you feel like family , the entire atmosphere was comfortable and hospitable. Very enjoyable stay, would definitely come back if in this area. Unfortunately the building is listed so no elevator so for handicapped or physically challenged it can be difficult to get up the stairs.

The food at the Hafod is excellent. Delicious local fare at breakfast and excellent cuisine in the restaurant for dinner. I'd thoroughly recommend eating there. I believe they are planning renovations at the Hafod. The room we were in certainly could do with an upgrade. It was clean and comfortable but dated and a little shabby.

Crisp and clean sheets and towels. An excellently presented cooked breakfast with local produce. Good value for money. A wonderfully friendly evening in the bar with a highly skilled group of musicians playing. Serendipity, as I was there on business for one night only.

A lovely location with a great view over Devil's Bridge. A good choice of restaurant or bar meals and a very good breakfast - all served promptly by very friendly staff. Reception could do with some work - no-one at the desk when we arrived, a very untidy office and despite requesting an accessible room for my elderly father we were allocated second floor rooms (no lift). Although staff offered to ask another guest to move rooms, as were arrived fairly late this didn't seem appropriate. The rooms were pleasant enough but the building does need a lot of upgrading and didn't really compete with other hotels in this price bracket (£100 for double b&b).

Superb cuisine and a very attentive but not intrusive approach to service by the staff. Helpful in all respects. An old-fashioned family hotel, set in a venerable building in a stunning location. A fine place to relax, unwind, and spoil oneself! Food served in the dining room (we ate there twice) was superlative, and a good wine list supported it too. the only downside - and this is a very minor point - is the amount of rubbish lying about in the residents' car park; these and the dog ends in the gutter detract from the overall appearance and make a misleading first impression from what is otherwise a fine location.

Good breakfast menu rooms were not as we saw them on the internet, the whole hotel was very drab and aging. The cafe and bar eating areas were so dirty we chose to go to local pubs to eat. The reception area behind the counter was extremely dirty, and several of the staff were of a very scruffy appearance. A very dissapointing hotel. The only redeeming feature was the older gentleman who served breakfast was extremely helpful, as was a young lady who was cleaning the rooms. With a lot of work, this could be a very nice hotel.

The location was fantastic, Views from the top of the garden were stunning. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable, had a really good nights sleep. Bed linen and towels looked new. We ate in the bar as we had the dog with us and he was understandably not allowed in the restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals and breakfast was lovely. 13 year old son was very happy as there was free WIFI. Yes, furniture was mismatched as other reviewers have stated, but we didn't mind that. We had a great weekend and will definitely be returning. The toilets in the bar could do with some investment

Location Generally clean but otherwise scuffed, scruffy and unkempt. Urgent need of maintenance, decoration and refurbishment. Our room might have been furnished from a sale room and the fixings by which the heater was fixed to the wall were breaking down and loose. Given that it was an electric heater, the risk of danger, should it fall off the wall, is obvious. Restaurant menu available only one evening per week. At other times dinner available only in the "Tea Room" - order at the counter or bar and wait for it to be brought to you; children running around, others playing pool. Staff disappeared for a long time at one point causing another guest to hammer on the kitchen door and, eventually after an argument, to storm out to his car with his baggage muttering "This Hotel is a xxx disgrace". Silently we agreed. Do they have any competition at Devil's Bridge? Apparently not. Qed.

Its position is excellent for seeing the local places of interest. Parking was easy and free. Breakfast was very good. The evening meal was very poor value. It cost £9. I could have had a similar meal at my local for less than half. Also, it was not well cooked. The pastry on the pie I ordered was hard and dry, I ordered chips and got boiled potatoes, and the peas were undercooked and hard.

Allthouh the hotel was rather quiet and far away from any other entertainment i and another 4 bikers had a fantastic evening. We dined in the restaurant - which had a very interesting menu - and the filet of beef I chose was excellent. My firends had teh local lamb - and that was excellent too. It was finished off with an excellent selection of local cheeses. So it is worth visiting this hotel for the restaurant alone. The meal excluding the wine was about £20 a head - I would have expected to pay at least £50 for the quality, choice and service in London. As there is not much else to do until morning we retiired to the bar - where we had pints of Hancock (very good) and played pool (no queues for the table) before finishing off with too much Welsh Whisky. All the rooms look over the valley to the soundtrack of an impressive waterfall - which must be visited in the moring.

I enjoyed the hospitality offered by the friendly staff. The rooms were comfortable and the bar/restaurant served a good range of drinks and food. The lack of a lift could be a problem for people on the upper floors

very friendly family run hotel, ideal location. lovely comfy bed, good food and a nice atmosphere all round, a couple of small points that are negative, are the car park had rubbish in it that could easily be removed, as this was our first view of the hotel it wasn't a good one, secondly the dinner times were a bit hit and miss but overall great.
