Nice friendly atmosphere, with ability to take the dog. Great to see what they have done with an old fashioned pub. Room not quite as clean as expected, however, this was a room where dogs has previously been in, so it would not be to their best standard.

My girlfriend and myself often find ourselves in Wincanton for events and every time we find ourselves travelling to the area we always book a room at the Half Moon inn, the rooms are wonderfully spacious and well- heated in the colder months, the bathrooms are also very well equipped, and the beds are all delightfully comfortable. The landlord is helpful and cheerful and also runs a brilliant little pub which serves some fantastic ales. We will definitely be coming back time and again, despite the availability of hotels in a more convenient location, the Half Moon is a delightful place to stay. Nothing, though the landlord does have a couple of dogs, one of which was very new and not accustomed to strangers - he barked a bit but is totally harmless.

If I were disabled it would have been fantacstic as their facilities are very accomodating> However as a single buisness woman I found the room very cold stark and uncomfortable. The feeling from the owner was cold. And even though he could make an effort he ensures that you are aware that he is being put out. The room appeared clean but dont look too closely its actually very dusty and unkept. Could do with a good clean under in and behind!

A good old fashioned country pub in a quiet location. Good quality food and drinks. The budget room was fairly basic but perfectly adequate and well presented.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good, both the breakfast and the evening meals in the pub. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. We would certainly stay here again.

It was very convenient for us.The food was very good. The bedside lights could have done with in-line switches on them.

The accommodation is separate from the Inn and this makes for a quieter stay. Good standard acommodation and thoughtfully furnished and equipped. No negatives

Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Sweets in the rooms. We felt prices of evening meal were on the high side (so we only ate there once) and choice limited.

Very good, 8.4
Score from 103 reviews
“The setting in charming Montacute was exactly what we were looking for. The inn has a sense of history and at the same time concern for contemporary traveler's needs. Our dinner was excellent and the traditional English Breakfast was updated just enough. I also enjoyed exploring the churchyard next door and hiking St Michael's Hill.” Nancy, Freeland |
