The food, evening meal in the restaurant was lovely, the staff and the location. They were really helpful. The bar had friendly locals who chatted to you. The local shops still open at five on Christmas eve. The midnight mass in the church next door. The wonderful singing.
Hot water in room had to be run for a long time then got too hot. Bath lovely shower hit and miss. Double bed mattress in room 31 needs upgrading.
Lovely room with a view of the river and was spacious and friendly staff
all staff vary friendly
buffet breakfast excellent
difficult to get a drink as very often the same person was on reception as on the bar and sometimes nobody was on either. An order for evening meal given by three people on the table next to us was not passed on to the catering staff, resulting in a dreadful wait for their meal.
Huge room and good bathroom Excellent breakfast choices Right by the river and town DVD facility as well as tv Spacious foyer and very clean toilets. Ample parking Value for money and being pet friendly was appreciated.
Tv stand and side table slanted forward and items like water glasses could slide off. This was just in our room and has probably been fixed by now.
The old world character of the hotel, the friendly & helpful staff, location & live music.
Old Uncomfortable beds
waiting to be served
The staff, although there didn't seem to be enough staff they were all very pleasant and helpful. The river view rooms were lovely. The location of the hotel was great.
The beds were much too hard. Our first room (23) was looking a little tired and could do with a revamp, we were moved to 19 and this was much better. However the showers in both were not great.
Beautiful view of river from bedroom, breakfast buffet okay, but some of the food had been overheated.
Rooms very tired, bathroom awful( standard room)!Wifi does not work in the bedrooms. Bar area not very inviting.
Clean and tidy, friendly staff.
The hotel had a band performing on Saturday night 22:00 - 00:00, we weren't warned about a band and our room was above where the band were playing. We had an early start the next day and the call to reception did nothing. Very disappointed.
Location and breakfast were fine.
The room was badly in need of refurbishment and very cramped. The very old TV did not work.
Position of hotel in the town. Staff were very pleasant. Plenty of towels, tea and coffee. Nice atmosphere in the bar area, breakfast was good.
bed was a little hard. Previous guest had left underwear in the bedroom drawer and it hadn't been picked up by the cleaning team. Phone didn't work.
Location: the hotel; the staff; the town; the rooms; the view across the river; the bar; everything.
Not a complaint, but the rooms are a little bit tired. A lick of paint and new carpets and it would be a new hotel!
Everthing about the hotel
Nothing, I cannot fault it except that the stay was too short and at the wrong time of the year.
staff offered us another room as there was a rock band on and they thought it would disturb us
window in room didn't shut and found it rather cold until heaters where sorted
The view from the bedroom overlooked the river. Having a bay window in the bedroom meant we could sit and appreciate the view.
The bathroom was not very good. The wc pan was set askew making it cramped to use. The way the shower is designed means you have to stand in the shower before turning the water on, resulting in getting cold water first. Huge gap under the door, and when locked door rattles. Considering the place was supposed to have had refurbishment only a few years ago, I failed to see where this was!
Breakfast View from room Cosy atmosphere Staff
great Position good car parking pleasant staff Hotel still very Victorian so quaint and some wonderful public rooms breakfast help yourself and plentiful and fresh
wifi poor except in a few rooms do not like making toast and tea still old fashioned and like some service find waiting for toast to cook and ques for tea a pain early in the morning Single room very very small
great location ,good choice of food for breakfast. A lovely coal fire in the hall to add to the ambience. Excellent value for money
Lots of stairs to our room, and we didn't get the river view we requested
Location good, it was clean, parking was good, breakfast was very nice.
Bed was hard lumpy, thin walls could hear people on next room talking
We were warmly greeted by Mike on reception who gave us all the relevant information needed for our stay. Beth on food and beverage was excellent. Breakfast was excellent and all staff were kind and caring. Our room was well serviced by housekeeping. WELL DONE!!
Cominng home but we will return
Very central location for town and my conference in the Pavilion. Friendly staff
Observations on the room given to the hotel. Additonal one the shower head/bracket needs attention Considering the hotel is located in Wales there is a great lack of Welsh within the hotel (signs, etc) and the staff I spoke to seemed to have no appreciation of Welsh. I believe that this is a missed opportunity
Bed was not very comfortable, the springs in the mattress could be felt.
The hotel was in a very good location and had free parking which was a bonus. The breakfast was nice I would stay there again for the price cannot complain.
Decor needed a bit of attention.
Central location Good breakfast
Has a slightly faded air about it and needs sprucing up a bit
