Friendliness / helpfulness of staff, location, breakfast

Our shower room [no. 16] was rather 'tired' the shower curtain would not have stopped the floor being soaked.

The views overlooking the river, and we loved the spaciousness of the room. The location was fantastic, central to the town, but also quiet.

Uncomfortable bed, a better quality mattress would have made all the difference to the stay. The shower was terrible, impossible to maintain the right temperature. Worst shower experience of any hotel we have stayed in.

staff friendly - some more that others. lean and tidy check out was much improved since last visit. chill out areas WiFi available :D (but not in rooms)

Wasn't eco- friendly (towels were changed everyday) towels in the bath were taken but others were as well. no lift. no choice of coffee (would like Latte etc) As a group it would be nice if a group of tables were together. we had to move tables together to sit and talk to each other at breakfast.

On a cold spring day the hotel was warm clean and the staff very welcoming. Breakfast was more than enough hot and very good quality After a heavy snow fall someone had cleaned some spaces for the guests. The Hand Hotel is a very pleasant place to stay in.

My husband and I were going to a funeral the following day and wanted a peaceful place to stay. We found all staff friendly, our room overlooked the river which made our stay tranquil. Nothing was too much for staff. The breakfast was 5 star - excellent, hot, hot, hot. The staff in dining room were very efficient. The Breakfast, Parking and the room was spacious

On our visit it was acting like a youth hostel including the false fire alarm!

The staff were all excellent - very efficient and friendly. We had a really heavy snowfall and electricity power cut while we were there but the staff did a sterling job in keeping up the level of service under very difficult conditions.

The hotel is rather tired and faded but we actually think it's appropriate for the property - some other guests might appreciate a face lift.

Location was perfect for what we wanted. Ample parking.

Heating in the room did not work, very cold especially in the Winter months, ended up having to take the duvet off the spare bed to keep warm in the night. There was some kind of fan/vent under our room window which made a noise constantly.

The hotel was fine apart from the room being very small due to us needing wifi

Nice staff, comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay and found it a beautiful setting and helpful staff. Breakfast staff were very helpful and wanted to please. I will return to this hotel if the occasion arrises

Only two tea bags and 1 milk. Needed to be sorted by housekeeping before the guest arrives.

The hotel staff were excellent and very welcoming to the children. Evening meal was very good. Central location with plenty of parking.

Could have got better room in London for less money. Roon was small and smelt of smoke. Shower door was broken so they had hung up a shower curtain. Hole place just seemed a bit run down and in need of some TLC

Staff were very friendly and helpful. They welcomed our small dog. The view from the room (16) was stunning. The bar and dining room were warm and comfortable. Everywhere was very clean. The breakfasts were excellent. The riverside garden is beautiful. Overall, the hotel has a warm, relaxed and cheerful atmosphere. Thank you!

The room is a little small for a 'double'.

We went for the New Year celebrations, and found that we couldnt get near to the bar for drinks! or get a seat, the restaurant could of easily have been used for the over flow of people, that night who where not guests at the hotel,

Room was a bit dated

It was New Years Eve , a live was band was on free of charge which were very good. The atmosphere was friendly. Enjoyed the weekend.

Stayed for New Years Every. When we checked in we were not given any information about breakfast or check out times.There seemed to be a shortage of staff as Reception was being handled by the bar staff. We had no hot water the following morning.
