Beautiful hotel in fantastic surroundings Staff very well trained and helpful.

Great place but bathrooms leave a lot to be desired, black mold in grout and sealent in shower, I expect better than this in a hotel of this type. Moved rooms first room has many water stains on walls in bedroom. Bed very comfortable but I'd say Premiere Inn are doing a better job of the bedrooms in terms of maintenance and finish.

We stayed for my sons wedding and the haycock made it a day to remember. The staff were absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and seemed happy and friendly

Rooms very hot but a fan was provided I don't know what else could have been done

Location is excellent and public areas are lovely. Breakfast was very good.

Due to the time of year, the bedroom was very hot with no air-con. Road outside was surprisingly noisy so difficult to sleep with window open.

Everything. The rooms were really nice and well appointed, we have a garden room. There is a lovely riverside walk close by. The Restaurant serve fantastic food and the breakfast selection was really good.

The flush on the toilet was very temperamental.

Really handy location, right off the A1. Excellent food, friendly and welcoming staff, very comfortable room in a quiet area so we could get a good night's sleep as we had an early start every morning. We'll definitely be back!

We did not dislike anything about our stay. The restaurant, food & staff were excellent. Also, good that the building has been kept in it's traditional style.

Easy to find near A1 but cannot hear road. Lovely gardens, outdoor seating. Plenty of room in bedrooms and extremely comfortable beds and pillows. We ate in restaurant that we found good value and high standard.

Waiting staff wearing gloves!! in a top hotel London yes but no need here. also signs to bedrooms outside very poor, and a solid path to door to these rooms instead of gravel would make pulling cases easier.

The building and ambiance are good

Where do I start? 1. Check in was a mess. 2. Service was poor. 3. Dinner order was forgotten and took ages. 4. First two choices of wine from the wine list were not available 5. Narrow uncomfortable Bed 6. Old fashioned shower 7. Extremely noisy 8. No fresh rolls for continental breakfast .toast only 9. Very old , not fresh boiled egg 10. The 2 night booking was translated to 1 night , this was not a problem as I would not stay there again

    Comfort of the rooms good

External decor is showing signs of age. Staff were only interested in getting you signed in. We were not given any directions to other areas of the hotel I.e Bar area, where was breakfast served. What was available in the restaurant

    The location

I was gobsmacked at the massive cost of the drinks, your whole sale costs are not a lot different to most village pubs but you choose to ramp up the prices , this alone is enough to put me off another stay.

    Breakfast was excellent.

I thought wine had been "marked up" too high. They would probably sell more bottles if it was slightly cheaper. The cheapest bottle was £19 and should have been around £14. I therefore didn't buy a second bottle with my dinner but would have done if it had been slightly cheaper.

    Location, style of hotel

Mattress was extremely hard Bath pannel broken and falling out. Massive spiders in room underneath window pillow. Room could have done with a thougher clean. Would have been nice for the breakfast to have been in the same room as the tables.

The Haycock has such character - make sure to find out the tale of drunken Barnaby. The staff were excellent, food fabulous, beautiful public rooms, clean & comfy bedrooms, tea-making facilities!

The bathroom was somewhat dated and the bedroom a little modestly furnished. The lovely English garden needs some TLC.

Location is lovely and the food is excellent.

We had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for a friend's wedding but only 1 room had been held for us. Hotel looked tired and shabby and could do with a refit. Gardens were looking neglected and in need of tlc.
