Very friendly, welcoming landlord & landlady. Good food. Nice quiet Somerset, countryside location. Unfortunately the current encumbents have been in place for only a month, ( May 2012) and have rather an uphill task to bring the Inn up to it's alledged 4 star rating.

Tim, the new owner, had just moved in a couple of days ago and we had the honour of being his first guests. He was very caring and accomodating and we wish him all the best!

The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food excellent. On entry to the Inn looked dirty and unkept. The rooms were clean and the bedding but if you went on first impressions you would turn away.

The one man band trying his best to make a success of a tired looking pub/b&b. Whilst times are difficult the place lacked atmosphere despite the efforts of the young man who seemed to be doing everything.

The Haymaker in was just fantastic. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were just brilliant. The food was excellent and the best steak I have ever tasted. The room was excellent and there was just not faulting it at all.

The price was reasonable for two nights stay. The staff lacked knowledge of the services available in the hotel as well as knowing little to nothing about the surrounding area. Having not known they did not direct us to another source of information (i.e. tourist) or even attempt to find out the answers to our questions/requests - just simply answered 'I don't know' to everything. As for the room, first impressions are good - the room is modernised, simplistic and functional, however, on closer use you will find that cleanliness is a problem - particularly in the bathroom where the shower was mouldy/dirty and the glasses had lipstick prints. The hotel also lacked cleanliness with the corridors smelling of wet dogs and the staff smoking out of the back entrance where the cigarrette smoke would rise into our room! Much improvement needed.

The Haymaker has changed owners and I do belive that they have not been involved in the running of a b & b, so I hope they do keep up the good reputation of the previous owners. The existing staff are very helpfull in making your stay as relaxing as possible. I do wish them all the very best as we have had many enjoyable breaks over the years. As booking there in the future we will wait and see.

The staff were very friendly, the location was in the area we wanted to be. The breakfast was very good. The outside of the pub could do with tidying up. First impressions count and some people would be put off by the gardens and carpark.
