The restaurant is also open to non-residents and provides stylish dining in an informal atmosphere. Two light and airy rooms, both overlooking the peaceful garden, create an intimate ambience in which to relax and enjoy your food. Attentive, yet relaxed service awaits, provided by the friendly professional team.
Richard heads up the kitchen team himself. Working with a hands-on approach and an uncomplicated cooking style, he believes in serving the very best, simple food, allowing the delicious natural flavours to speak for themselves.
With the use of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, the menu is a mix of traditional local dishes, modern British food, and just a hint of global influences. Whatever the dish, Richard's aim is to present delicious food with a creative twist.
The well-stocked bar offers a selection of bottled beers and local bitters amongst other drinks. The wine list is interesting and varied and is certain to meet all tastes.
Please note the restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday inclusive.
Tables cannot be guaranteed for residents.
All of the bright, spacious and airy rooms are well equipped, with all the modern comforts and facilities you need in a restful, relaxing base. Each room features attractive crisp cotton bed linen, warm, luxurious duvets and en suite bathrooms.

There are various local walks to Lake Windermere itself, starting from approximately 15 minutes away. By car, Ambleside is a 10-minute drive away, with spectacular views of the lake all along the way.
The Hideaway At Windermere operates a strict non-smoking policy in all rooms, bathrooms and public areas. If evidence of smoking is found, you will be asked to vacate your room immediately and a minimum charge of GBP 200 will be issued on or after your departure. The payment will be taken immediately on the card details you used to make the booking to cover all additional cleaning and dry cleaning costs.
Bookings for 3 rooms or more cannot be accepted.

Beautiful hotel, exceptionally clean, excellent food and fantastic service. The food and drink within the hotel is very reasonable. The hotel is tucked away in extremely relaxing surroundings. Aga looked after us during our stay and she was an absolute treasure and couldn't have been more helpful. Only thing (but this will be outwith the control of the hotel) is that the dustbin lorry woke me up on the morning we were leaving!! |

We were offered afternoon tea on our arrival to the hotel after a long walk at no extra cost. Wonderful ! It would have been nice to have a bath in the room especially after a days walking. |

Easy hotel at Windermere. 5 minutes to village center and 20 minutes on foot to Bowness. Pretentious style as if it was a hotel. Surely it is not a hotel but a big house(villa) in the middle of normal houses and a modest, civilized, clean B&B. Realisticly, an expensive place for a B&B. |

on arrival we were made to feel very welcome. The personal touches such as daily newspaper and afternoon tea and cakes was lovely added extra. the hideaway is spotless, relaxing and ideally situated for bowness and surrounding towns. We would definately return to the Hideaway. The only fault we found at the Hideaway was the ensuite in our bedroom was very small with not a lot of room to manoevere. |

Excellent location, very peaceful depite beinng very close to the centre of Windermere. A good base to explore thw Lake District. Very friendly and helpfull staff and good food. Afternoon tea was good quality and a nice touch. If you are there for more than a few days the evening menu lacks variety although the quality was excellent. |
