Fantastic views, comfortable rooms, great location for Broughton and day tripping around the rest of the lakes, friendly accommodating owners.
Tomatoes, but I don't like them anywhere. In fact I asked for no tomatoes and got no tomatoes, so this is really a positive.
Location was excellent in a quieter part of the lakes. The service was very good and the landlady could not have been more helpful. Good breakfast and very comfy room.
The shower was quite cold and couldn't be turned up.
Food, very welcoming and friendly owners, staff and locals
Bathroom a little small but not much you can do with an old building.
The view! Go just to sit in the dining room. Staff when found were very helpful and friendly.
Shabby pub area and reception. But they are about to revamp. I gather they have only recently acquired it.l No staff visible most of time, and no obvious bell.
We loved the views and the friendly staff and the hospitality it was just like visiting old friends. the food was well presented and home cooked. All the meals and desserts were excellent value for money and having your breakfast and diner over look the view of the valley was incredible.
Friendly staff, good range of real ales
Decor a bit dated
Warm friendly welcome, made to feel like a member of the family
We only saw the last who ran the place as we were only there one night but she was very friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely breakfast.
Friendly welcoming staff. Good accommodation. Clean and tidy room with great vues.
Walk from centre of village.
The room was very comfortable, very clean, fresh and airy with the most scenic view, 180 degrees at least over the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Unfortunately the staff didn't have my on-line booking form requesting an evening meal. They did however quickly arrange to provide a freshly cooked scampi & chips
This is a quaint hotel. It appears a bit run down, which adds to its charm. Staff are excellent. Pub style food was good as well.
This is hotel/pub has not been renovated for some time. This is not a new, modern place. We would go back, though.
Breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
Friendly Staff very welcoming great views
Nothing really enjoyed the stay
Having met one of the owners who served our breakfast I would say this. Remember you are staying in an old traditional pub and because of this it has its quirks! The owners are very hard working and are in te process of renovating the building. Don't expect five star expect a Traditional old style pub that is being improved all the time. It is in a great location with great views and a close walk to the village square. This place will be totally different in years to come as the lovely owners work hard to turn it around from the neglect of the previous long term owners. Good luck to the new owners (of a few years now). Keep working hard and don't let go of you end goal, you have a great asset with bags of potential! Steven S & Vicky x
It does need updating. But I it was my business I'd update the bar furniture from dark old furniture to light in colour and modern giving it that breath of freshair. I'd update a lot of it and make the inside of the building light and airy not dark and dirty that some old establishments have. That said I would just steer it away from its roots but maintain some of the old character in small ways only.
Room 3 had a good view across the valley to hills beyond it.
Although views were great the traffic noise was a bit intrusive even at night.
The location, views, staff & food were excellent. The beer was good too. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. We will definitely recommend the inn and go again.
The bed was a bit creaky & the plumbing "quirky" but these things in a very old building are to be expected & didn't spoil an excellent stay.
The views from my room were fantastic. Liz was extremely friendly and welcoming.
The room and en suite facilities were a bit tired. The food in the bar varied in quality from excellent to pretty poor.
Location is very good. Parking is available and has very good views from the room itself. A very pleasant place to stay 1-2 nights.
Staff was awesome...it was more of a family feeling rather than staying in a hotel..Awesome view from hotel...good places to visit nearby...
The staff, the breakfast, the good real ales, the great Lakeland views, the location.
Nice area, very picturesque. Good range of real ales. Good "pub grub" menu. Comfortable beds. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent full breakfast menu.
Tired decor in room. Bath had very slow just warm water. Shower very low pressure. Some improvements under way may help sort this out. OK for an overnight on business, would not want any more than a couple of days.
The owners and all the staff were brilliant. They made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel has fabulous views. The food was very good and we especially enjoyed the breakfast. The bar area was cosy and welcoming.
Owner very friendly and could not do enough to try and please us. Food of a good standard, nice cosy log fire in bar.
It was very very windy and the window let quite a bit of cold in, but was ok with the curtains closed
Restaurant And Bar closed Shower dirty Wifi not working in bedrooms
