Mark and Morag were very very welcoming, accommodating and friendly.(Thomas was adorable). The food and service was superb with attention to detail. Lovely room with very comfortable bed, also lovely lounge area with magazines. Felt very well looked after and it was very relaxing. Would thoroughly recommend and intend to stay again. An easy place to be.
No dislikes at all
Mark and Morag are wonderful hosts. Morag does the cooking which is fantastic and Mark was so helpful with information. Will return
Mark welcoming and hospitable, Morag excellent cook and very warm and charming, meal excellent! Comfy room, bed, shower terrific. Atmosphere of inn just what we wanted, felt we were visiting friends!
Warm welcome. Hosts were accommodating and the food was fabulous. Pavlova dessert was amazing and my smoked salmon was crispy fried (instead of bacon) - a made to order breakfast! Should have stayed longer.
Nothing to dislike
Mark and Morag are wonderful hosts and they run a unique B & B in the the tranquil village of Hightae. Just off the beaten track but ideal for exploring this quiet area of Scotland which is not throng with tourists. A spotlessly clean establishment, comfy beds and cosy sitting room for guests. Morag is a great cook and we had bespoke evening dinners and hearty breakfasts.
Having to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Extremely friendly place. Marc was a very entertaining host and Morag's cooking and presentation were excellent. The sea bass was exceptional.
THE best most welcoming hotel we've stayed in! Very friendly, food excellent and nothing is too much trouble. We were on a road trip and they helped us plan our route so that we could take in all the best places to see - it was brilliant!
Not having enough time to stay here longer!
great food relaxed environment all good
iffy WiFi but that's Scotland not the owners fault
Staying at the Hightae Inn is like staying with your favourite friends. Marc & Morag are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent. The rooms are beautiful and the bed so comfortable it is a real wrench getting up. But you need to or you would miss the fab breakfast. Do try the smoked salmon & scrambled eggs if you are offered it. Put all of this into the delightful village of Hightae and you have a combination made in heaven!
Leaving on Monday!
absolutely everything! the friendly welcome, the delicious food perfectly cooked by the lovely Morag, the comfortable room - all just fabulous! Marc and Morag are the perfect hosts.
The hightea is a lovely small hotel in a small village very quiet but such a lovely hotel The food is exallent and the service could not be better the room we had was spotlessly clean the couple who run this lovely hotel work hard to make your stay enjoyable and it shows
The fact that the owners made us feel so welcome. They are genuinely interested in their guests, not just doing a job. The food was tasty, the beds were comfortable (we stayed twice in different rooms) and the cleanliness and appearance of the place was excellent.
A warm & friendly welcome from the moment I walked through the door & right through until I left the following morning. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellent quality & the en-suite room was pleasant, comfortable & clean. I would definitely recommend the Hightae Inn to anyone thinking of booking.
Hospitality of owners Excellent food Location
Very relaxing stay made to feel very welcome by mark and morag . Lovely food will definitely visit again.
Situated in a peaceful village, yet not too far from the more lively towns of Moffat and Lockerbie: perfect for getting you into the "switch-off" mood. Mark and Morag made us feel very welcome, and looked after us well.
Can't find fault!
Home-cooked evening meal absolutely delicious. Quiet location. Extensive range of ales and whisky.
Room not very practical ie awkward location of & too small a shelf for tea-making facilities, with TV cables stretched over the kettle; miniscule TV!; nowhere in bathroom to put own toiletries; no hooks/rails to hang towels when wet; little choice at breakfast.
Hightae Inn was one of the highlights of our trip. Mark and Morag were so welcoming and interesting to talk to. They went out of their way to make sure we were well catered for. We were travelling with my mother who is a bit older and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The Inn is beautifully restored and the beds were so comfy we didn't want to leave. We had dinner and breakfast and both were superb - the breakfast smoked salmon (locally sourced) is now our standard by which all smoked salmon is judged. A big bonus was the guest lounge where we could sit and talk.
Having to leave :)
The hosts were excellent - i have never stayed at a hotel where they have been so welcoming and helpful.
missed not being able to get a good WiFi, they did warn us that the signal from BT was not good and that until BT installed ungarded lines there was very little more they could do to improve it - so this is more a symptom of where we were goegraphically than the hotel facilities
We stayed here for two nights while visiting a relative nearby and on our way to The Highlands. Lovely ground floor room with a really comfortable bed. Very quiet. Friendly owners, Mark and Morag who can both cook really well. Evening meals were excellent. the owner was very knowledgeable about drinks in general and particularly whiskies and gin. Just an hour away from Glasgow.
One of the nicest and friendliest places we have every stayed in and had an excellent home cooked meal in the bar. Also received a good lesson on Malt Whisky !
Excellent venue for a break in our journey north. Good personal attention and good food.
Food was brilliant. Mark and Morag were the perfect hosts, made us feel 'at home'. The beds were so comfy too.
No WiFi connection but just one of those things for a fairly remote location. Not a huge problem to be honest for just a one night stay.
Friendly welcome. Excellent stay with good food and hospitality. Mark and Morag take trouble to look after their guests making them feel very welcome even for just a one night stay.
