Comfy bed friendly staff tasty food
The dinner and the breakfast were excellent. The chef is fantastic, really gifted. The staff were friendly, and we were make to feel very welcome. Location in the centre of town is good. The room was reasonable although a little small.
There's no private parking, and on a Friday afternoon, it was a bit of an issue finding an available parking space in town. If you arrive after 6 p.m. it would be easier to find somewhere close to park.
1. The period character and charm. 2. Food!! 3. Location - easy access to Oxford, the North Downs and The Cotswolds.
We would like to see a comfortable lounge to relax after a meal. The rooms are set up for people to have a meal and probably leave. This lead us to go elsewhere in the evening.
Staff friendly, food very good. Hotel overall very nice
Found beer to cold. Water nice and hot but shower nots so good
the breakfast was lovely and the one evening meal we had at the Inn was excellent loved the high street and all the shops and cafes
my Mum who is now 80 found the stairs a bit challenging as her room was a long way up we found the hotel is a bit expensive and a glass of wine at the bar was £9!!!
Very good and well presented food.
The room really needed a good spring clean. This is an 'ear plug' pub. We accept the fact that the location is on the high street, but being kept awake by staff talking until 1.30am right outside the bedroom window that had to be kept open due to the heat was annoying not to mention that the front door was slammed shut so loud at 1.45am it made the building shake.
helpful staff, good breakfast, great location
non working bathroom fan, mould in shower area, tiny bedroom, had to shut bedroom window due to noise from outside
The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. The hotel was quirky, full of character and charm. Would like to go back for a special treat, Burford is delightful and we really had a lovely time.
It was a little noisy being over the pub with people drinking outside. The double glazing helped at a lot.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Complimentry apperitif was a nice touch.
A bit pricey. A long wait for food despite it not being busy.
The family who ran the hotel couldn't have done more for us. Lovely bedrooms, fantastic location and food to die for. Would definitely stay again.
We were made extremely welcome. Gavin in particular was a great host, really friendly and accommodating. Brilliant
Helpful and friendly staff. Owners and family also really lovely. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
We didn't mind but others thinking of visiting should appreciate that there may be some noise going on into the evening as it's a pub and restaurant. All was quiet by last orders though.
Lovely, characterful medieval building, great, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food
It is next to a main road that is very busy - probably we noticed this more because it was so hot during our stay so all the windows were open, and it does get quieter in the evening when it was lovely sitting outside the front of the pub.
Friendly helpful staff.
Lighting in room was dim.
Lady front of house (blonde) excellent. Other staff pm not as efficient or caring. Food was very good.
Evening staff were not on the ball and efficient as our lady in the morning. feel the young girl needed further training on etiquette!
Staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for us. Great sense of humour and friendliness.
Nothing at all. We have stayed at more expensive hotels locally and the Highway Inn beat them hands down thanks to the staff!
convenient location, attractive old hotel buildings, good breakfast
room was not very spacious, attempt at overcharging bill
Olde World Charm The Welcome The Free Sherry The Location
The road noise from our room The people sat under our window chatting until the early hours
We particularly liked that the property has retained such originality - a refreshing change from modern hotels. We felt very comfortable and well looked after. Apart from breakfast which was most enjoyable, we did not eat in the property as our trip was for a family wedding, but the Inn seemed busy whenever we went in and out. Burford is a beautiful location and we would like to visit the Highway Inn again.
Because I have chronic arthritis, particularly in my hips, I did not find the bed comfortable - I think maybe a new mattress could be required. JK
Loved the location.
The owners and staff were very welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. The bedrooms are lovely and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend it and will be visiting again.
Charming room, but tiny.
The hassle to stay logged in to the internet. Need more luggage stands
the ambience was lovely
the noise from the street.
