Score from 1379 reviews Very good
we enjoyed our stay and felt very welcome and relaxed.
Set times for brekfast and dinner. Had to leave early and pool closed to early.
For the price I thinks it's not bad, room very neat and smell free. Value for money
I booked a room very much at the last minute and paid less than thirty quid. For this sort of money you can't expect too much, so what I got was fine - a comfortable single room in the slightly run down 'Hinton Firs Cottage' around the back. Despite some of the reviews, the room was clean, there was plenty of hot water in the morning and it was quiet. There is also plenty of parking.
The annex has seen better days - the shower hose was a bit decrepit, not all the windows closed tight, the stairwell is a bit musty and the towels were small and ancient...but as I say above, for less than 30 quid it would be churlish to look too close.
The excellent location,. courteous and helpful staff, the pool, excellent breakfast and the astonishing value for money
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was nice and value for money. Indoor pool was nice and warm and clean.
The shower was a little old fashioned and choose when it wanted to work and when it didn't.
Very nice staff, nice gardens & facilities. Friendly and calm atmosphere. Brilliant location in a quiet area, very close to the cliff top & beach. I think the price is very good value in comparison to most Bournemouth hotels.
The particular room we had was small & close to the generator outside so a little noise & no view.
Location Bar open for long hours Indoor pool and jacuzzi
breakfast was small portions décor dated and needs updating
The hotel was in desperate need of a makeover. The bedroom we had was a single room with 2 beds in it and far too small. The ceiling paper was hanging off and some of the wallpaper on the walls was peeling off. The carpet was disgusting and needed replacing and the duvet covers looked as if they had not been washed from the previous guests.
Bathroom very clean, sleeping very quiet too. Indoor swiming pool very good. Good breakfast indeed! Staff very friendly!!
Outdoor swiming pool no longer in use. General furniture decor needs touching up! Breakfast starting time too late at 7.45am. No team player for my lovely table tennis game.
No negatives for the money
All good value for money
The double room was very comfortable with all appliances likely to need. The indoor pool was very nice and well maintained.
The water pressure for the shower was not very good and the outdoor pool was not maintained or used and a bit of an eyesore.
Quiet location, close to cliff top with access to beach walks. Breakfast good, not hot buffet but made to order. Comfortable rooms though tired.
Pool needs attention.
Staff were helpful and courteous. Room and bathroom very clean. Breakfast enjoyable.
Hotel is rather 'tired' décor wise. The bar was not staffed very well as staff seemed to have to serve in the bar while doing various other things.
You need a complete re-doing of rooms and appliances, everything is old and not taken care of and should be looked after. I suppose the hotel was nice about 50 years ago and since then nothing has improved at all.
Tv did not work, it was dirty, noisy as the windows are 100 years old! Swimming pool outside did not work. Nothing pleasant about this hotel especially charging £136 per night!!! Avoid this place!
Staff , cleaning
I'm never one to complain but this place was truly awful It had been advertised as having an outdoor pool..yet the pool was discustingly dirty. And not a nice environment. The place smelled of old people all the time.. It was expensive compared to other nicer hotels I have stayed in. Never again.
The outdoor pool was very dirty, and we could not use it. We did not have a control for the tv nor the staff seem to care
The indoor pool was nice, the hotel clean and great location
The outdoor pool resembled a pond it is green, the breakfast and dinner finished to early
nice quiet location, ample parking on cctv, pleasant staff.
good location comfortable bed powerful mixer tap shower cheapest available at last minute
wallpaper hanging off alarm calls late 2 days running poor restaurant service on saturday
The location. The staff were polite and did their best.
The outdoor pool was not in use - which was the reason I booked the hotel. The first single room I stayed in had paper peeling off the walls, the draws were hanging out of the desk and the room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. I was offered another room that night which was even worse. There were signs everywhere saying not to leave windows open but as there was no air-con the room was stuffy. I had to open the window - and I hardly slept all night because I was concerned about security. On the second night I was moved into a far better room. It's unfortunate that I wasn't offered this on the first night.
-was pleasantly surprised, for the money I paid it was quite luxurious, very comfortable bed, nice big bathroom/shower -good breakfast for a cheap price -nice location, it's about a mile or so from the main city centre but you can walk down by the coast and it's a beautiful walk, right next to the beach -staff was great, got me a cab very fast on a few different occasions, and as just mentioned took time to try and solve the wi-fi for me, was willing to upgrade my room at no extra cost for the the wi-fi issue
-biggest issue was that hotel advertised having wi-fi but when i got there I was unable to access it from my room and had to go downstairs to get it-- I do not think it is available from any of their rooms as the manager offered to move me to a more expensive room in the centre of the hotel to try and get wi-fi in the room and it still was not accessible, also even downstairs the wi-fi frequently would stop working and I had to ask the front desk clerk to reset the router (this was an issue for me as I was there for business), which is why I rated facilities as poor
The swaming pool is not clean & elevator is very old and unsafe
Staff very friendly, food was great,
What a shame the out door pool really let's the hotel down, once the holiday season starts surely the pool should be cleaned out, then we are sure even local people would go there for a swim.
