The wide, tree-lined market place in Brackley, with its Georgian and Victorian houses and shops, is the delightful setting for this 13th century coaching inn.

Visited for a function and evening meal was superb. Staff very friendly and is a good location.
Bed was very tired - nowhere near Premier Inn standard. Windows rattled in the night with strong wind. Needs some TLC
Helpful staff, nice food. Spacious bar/lounge area. Decor siuted the type of property this is.
Had to bend down to fit under shower head
Breakfast was excellent. Staff great. Grounds lovely to walk dog in
Paying for wifi tho it wasn't much, just annoying to have to go to desk to get password ect.
Good parking, hotel easy to find.
To pay for Wi Fi heating poor (weather very cold)
Pleasant staff and very good dining room for our group. Good breakfast
Room nice and warm but no curtains (top floor with dormer windows only), trouser press completely broken and TV poor signal on channel 1 & 2
The ground floor, dining room, reception are very well furnished and obviously taken care of. Bedrooms was clean and comfortable.
I was unable to purchase any food on arrival as the bar meals stopped at two and only reopened at six.Bedrooms are dated and some furniture is marked or stained.Breakfast served onto small plates and had obviously been standing for some time. Excellent coffee.
Very Poor matress in room 43 Diddnt sleep well
Staff were very accommodating and welcoming to our last minute request to join in New Years Even party. The food and party and DJ were excellent. The accommodation of our dog was so helpful at the last minute and during our stay - in that the hotel room was quiet and near an exit door to the outside. The group of parties that we shared the event with were very accommodating to us as an outside couple and the party atmosphere was delightful and the dancing fantastic! W We were then close enough to our 7 mile walk on New Years day with our walking group friends around Woodstock and Blenheim Park and would recommend it to any other walking group. Many thanks to all staff who made our stay so pleasant.
All staff very helpful, friendly and caring. Lots of cosy areas to relax in the public domain. If elderly or disabled, rooms are available on the ground floor with easy access to other hotel areas and garden. No problem about our pet lab staying with most of the staff making a fuss of him. Lots of space in the grounds to exercise him too.
Decor needs to be freshened up a little, but being pristine would be out of keeping with the character of the building
hotel was nice could do with being updated we were guests at a family wedding and food and service was excellent lovely coal fires
location welcome staff bar for relaxing rooms were good sized and adequate - people have moaned about no duvets but felt this is the style its not a Travelodge afterall breakfast was excellent pet friendly and good hotel
reading about the very unfair reviews of other visitors bed was a little too hard for me was a little chilly in the room at first
The staff tried hard to please
Rooms look tired the bed was very uncomfortable
Warm welcome and friendly reception!
Too cold for winter not enough heating to go around, tired decor that needs new lease of life.
Breakfast was very good. Staff in all departments very helpful especially man on reception and breakfast staff.
Bed too hard. Other guests inconsiderate when they went to bed at 3 am and woke up another resident's dog. Our room No. 50 required upgrading and was near stairs!
The breakfast was enjoyable. The reception & breakfast staff couldn't have been more helpful.
It felt outdated rather than hold an old world charm. It seemed run down rather than charming. Not having a good nights sleep. The bed should have been replaced- it was very uncomfortable, lumpy and creaky. No being able to get a drink at the bar before going out for the evening.
Yummy good value breakfast Friendly staff Amazing location Lovely old building
Tiny, lumpy uncomfortable bed Cost more for a single room than a double Walls in serious state of disrepair Redecoration needed Impossible stairs for an old lady Had to pay to enter an antiques show located in the hotel - turned out to be a load of old tack
We liked the location and the overall feel of the hotel which is good - mainly due to the excellent service and positive attitude if te staff - without them this hotel would be a disaster
We didn't like the poor furnishings and general poor standard of the decoration both in the main hotel and our bedroom
Traffic noise Poor mirror lighting - difficult for applying makeup. Dirty tiles round the bath
no smoking room stank of cigarette smoke moved to another room. dirty bedcovers. unwashed coffee cups
Friendly welcoming staff, comfortable clean room, in keeping decor with hotels age and history well presented, good food.
Could not fault it.
Location handy for many sites. Room clean and comfortable. Staff friendly
Beer, Pool table, the sandwich, the rooms
Poor levels of English by the staff led to a misunderstanding that eventually cost us >90 minutes. We ordered and received sandwiches just after 12. When buying a round ot 1350 I informed the bar staff we would be ordering a late lunch in an hour. They omitted to say the kitchen would be closed by then. Took us 90 minutes of driving around to find a place that was open. Bed very springy.
Room service not great. Bathroom sink cold tap did not work and bathroom not cleaned nor toiletries topped up on a daily basis. To impossible to understand. During the week my stay unfortunately coincided with a large group of contractors working nearby. A school trip of 100 14 year olds would have been better behaved. Despite complaining of men running up and down corridors at 4am and a door knocking game all night the staff were unable to take control. Weekends coincide with coach trips. This means it is impossible to get to the bar, book a table in the restaurant or park in the car park as the coaches take up all the room not to mention the scrum down for breakfast. Not recommended.
Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely hot water. Excellent grounds for dog walking. Very quiet at night.
Some of the furnishings are in need of a little TLC.
We liked the outside looks and the history of the hotel. All the downstairs was very nice and pleasant. The staff and the food was very good .
We were there for leisure and xmas shopping, the room was not comfortable ie. No comfy chairs to relax. We felt every thing was done with conferences and buisness people. We suggest it would be helpfull if when booking people were asked if it was for leisure or buisness when booking.
