The serving staff in the guest lounge and dining room were friendly and competent. The hotel is in a good location for exploring the surrounding area.

We arrived at middayWe had to pay an additional £10 to get into our room to change for a wedding at 2pm. The room was cold and had been unused for some time so the radiators should have been activated as it was a very cold day. There was no heating in the bathroom and there was a pubic hair in the sink. There werenot enough front of house staff to deal with all of the guests booking in and leaving so there was a long queue. The receptionist said that there was nonone from senior management to talk to.

The very spacious lounge areas impressed us.

The Location of the hotel was good and the staff were pleasant enough without being welcoming,they did go out of there way to please us as we got a late night drink (after11pm) when asked,the breakfast was good ,plenty of bacon/sausages etc and although they only laid out scrambled eggs if you ask you could get fried as well,so dont be afraid to ask for other things,plenty of cereal/yogurt etc as well,all in all this is a 3 star and good value for money.

We booked a superior room and expected it to be a little bigger,bathroom small with shower in the bath,was same size as my friends standard room,we had a balcony they did not was all the difference i could see.,double bed not very big either,could do with decoration,paint peeling off of doors and very yellow so hasnt been done for some considerable time,but it did the job just dont think the extra for a superior is worth it,but value for money i guess.

The staircase was dangerous The shower had no thermostat. The toilet seat was flimsy and fell off. Their seemed to be no lift, we had to carry our luggage upstairs to our room

Its situation with regard to Oxford and the Cotswolds. The breakfast offered was particularly good.

The room we got wasn't aired properly. We thought the room prices were too high.

No Real Ale in the bar. Velux window in our room - 67 - needs replacing - seal has gone.

The one highlight was the young chap, by the name of Alan, on the reception desk when I checked out. He was very professional and helpful in his attitude.

The room was too expensive in relation to the quality of what was provided. The evening meal menu was restricted, the food took too long to arrive and the quality was barely adequate. The hotel blurb says that the hotel has been refurbished, but it could stand being done again. The whole place is being run on the cheap.

Good Food, Efficient Staff, Handy Location.

Staff could have been a bit more friendly. The bed clothes were a bit too small for the bed. We had the furthest room from reception and it was quite a long walk with steps and stairs to contend with. Not too easy when carrying a suitcase!

A very attractive hotel with lovely grounds. A comfortable bar area opening out onto a pretty courtyard and although situated on a busy road there was no problem with traffic noise. The staff were friendly and although the menu was fairly limited the food was well cooked and nicely presented. The room was comfortable with a small balcony and a well appointed bathroom.

Why is it that when a room is obviously intended to two people only one armchair is provided? Sitting on the bed is not always preferable. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was lovely but because they obviously are popular with weddings it did get quite noisy in the evening as guests congregated outside.

The mattress on the double bed was extremely uncomfortable as the main springs had completely GONE!. Very disappointing !!!

The breakfast was excellent, the room was pleasant if a little musty. The grounds were very attractive.

The evening meal was terrible, the food was not as stated on the menu and the steak was inedible. There were very few staff around and all spoke very little English.

The hotel is well located and has a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. One of our twin beds was pretty hard, however!

Good location and very quiet at night. Good lounge/bar area. Good value for money.

The room was very hot at night. a fan or air conditioning would have helped. The matress was a bit soft and past its best.

all staff were very polite and friendly, rooms were very spacious and clean, breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, had a nice stay, very squeaky floorboards in the rooms though

The staff were friendly and efficient, both dinner and breakfast were very good with a good selection of food to choose from.

There were 6 of us staying in 3 'Superior' rooms....which definitely weren'T. The rooms were disappointingly small with poor decor and cramped. We queried the charge of £94.80 (with breakfast) and were assured they were the 'Superior' rooms which we believe were overpriced. We all felt this was very disappointing as everything else was very good, but we won't be staying there again.

Good location for my place of work the next morning; easy to find. Good choice of breakfast items with fresh tea / coffee served to the table. I had booked a single so was expecting a single bed, nice surprise to be allocated a small double; room well proportioned.

The fact that the tea / coffee tray was hidden in the wardrobe, as I arrived late I was too tired to think to look there and it was only by chance that I found the next morning! The shower head was very low and I was not able to adjust the height - very poor temp control, either warm or cold. Forgot to tell them but they could do with cleaning the plug hole in the shower; it is covered but had to raise this to let water flow through to avoid flooding the bathroom. I was cold in the night and had not discovered the wardrobe to search for more blankets so woke up several times. Tv control was not good; nice big screen with a sleep timer which I appreciated but the menu for channel selection was broken / not available so had to 'scroll' through the channels for selection - frustrating!

Poorly and the bed is not comfortable

It was my 82 year old Mother who I booked in to the Holt.. It is only 3 miles from my home, so was nicely in easy reach to collect her each morning and return her each evening..The staff were generally firendly and helpful.. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the breakfast was perfect , catering for all....

There were a lot of stairs for my Mother.. But that was my fault, as I did not check out about ground floor accomodation etc... The waitress at breakfast on the Saturday morning was somewhat unhelpful and quite abrupt... However.. The waitress on the Sunday morning was the complete opposite, being very friendly and helpful..

Weddings took preference over residents had to go out to eat.
