Friendly staff. Good food and ale. Comfortable bed. The local people also very friendly. Room could have been warmer. No proper shower in the bathroom, there was a shower head with the water either scalding hot or cold.

Warm welcome & excellent food. Lodge was beautifully furnished & very comfortable. Very friendly landlord & staff & we would definitely go there again. Loved that it was a dog friendly facility. We found the Lodge very cold initially as was the pub. However the Lodge soon warmed up when we lit the log burning fire.

Very comfy bed. Good choice at breakfast. Open fire Noise from bar. Shower above bath and toilet by window over looking front of pub. It wasn't frosted so you were a bit exposed

Sorry, but found stay very disappointing. Bed and Bath clean enough to continue staying but very tired and decoration poor. Very little choice for breakfast. No other options if you didn' want cooked other than cereals or toast. No fruit or yoghurt or pastries. Poor quality breakfast ingredients, not a meaty sausage and had been kept warm after being deep fat fried so all wrinkly. The staircase leading to the room was filthy and the carpet needed a good clean. No Wi-Fi working and very little information in the room. Broken tap, carpet on bathroom floor, holes in the ceiling. Electric heater on wall in bedroom was insufficient to keep the room warm and no heating at all in the bathroom. Overall I am very surprised that it was rated 4* and think that this rating should be reviewed. Overpriced and Overrated.

Superb evening meals. Nice country location but close enough to main routes to get about. Bedding didn't fit the mattress.

Nice 'old fashioned' pub. Large bedroom (No 3). Friendly staff. Good location. Food cooked to order - so don't expect immediate service! Would recommend the fish dishes as they were excellent. Bed a bit too soft for our liking (personal thing). Maybe a bit pricey at £95 - but that shouldn't put you off.

The food was fantastic, we had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was fab! Breakfast was also very good. A lovely quirky bar with a really nice atmosphere. Rooms were good, lovely quality towels and bed linen. We loved the location, a fifteen minute walk down the lane to the fossil beach (very interesting) and somewhere to have a cream tea on the way.....delicious! Think they need to purchase a new bed in the room we had. It was either not very good quality or past it's best!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Lack of a shower in the bathroom. Despite free wi-fi being advertised it was not obvious how to access it and no means of contacting reception by phone. Lack of reception for those people staying in the hotel.

Staff very welcoming and helpful. Good to stay in the hotel where my aunty once lived and helped to run. Many family groups ,singles and older folk felt equally at home here. Bed a bit squeaky.

The place was relaxed and cosy with excellent food. the accomodation was at a pub but the sleeping areas were seperate to the pub which was good as we have a young child. The staff accommodated our young 3 year old child really well with games for her in the pub and child versions of all the meals so we did not have to feed her chicken nuggets!

The meal taken in the restaurant in the evening, but this is a seperate business of bar and restaurant, and the ambience of public areas. On arrival we thought the hotel was olde worldly which was fine as it suits the area. Where we are not happy to accept olde worldly is for facilities in the rooms, they are awfull !! The paintwork and walls are badly in need of some tlc , all the electrical fittings are stained with smoke or age, it was difficult to tell. There was no shower but a shower fitting on the bath taps that gave a trickle of water ! Carpet on the bathroom floor !! After the room experience we appeared for breakfast which was served between 8am and 9 (remember this is supposed to be relaxing holiday )and had to be ordered the evening before to be served 1 rasher of bacon ,1 egg and 1 half tomato, a selection of cereals pressumably aimed at children, and toast for which we had to ask for butter !! If we had paid half the price we still would not have been happy with the facilities so the only advice I would give is avoid staying here but possibly pop in for an evening meal as this is what carries the business. To top it all the host is not a pleasant man to his clients and seems preoccupied with his own affairs to be bothered with paying clients of which we appeared to be the only two.

The Hood arms is a lovely, friendly pub. Staff are very helpful and landlord goes out of his way to make you feel at home, without being intrusive. Food was great and again couldn't fault it. Rooms were nice, lovely comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities and flat screen T.V. Garden is gorgeous and plenty of room for all guests to enjoy it. If I had to be picky, one of the rooms that said 'flat screen tv' that our friends had booked (room 5) did not have flat screen T.V, instead a very small square T.V. Also room could do with a shower as none of us are batyh people. Despite this, it would not put us off staying again as it really is a fantastic, friendly pub.

This Hotel was a comfortable 17th Century Inn with character and a relaxed atmosphere. Our room with a king size bed and en suite was pleasant, (may be a lick of paint to freshen up hallways would be good). The food in the restaurant deserves an award on its own, every mouthful had its own individual flavour, excellent cooking and well worth going again just to sample other delights from the menu, which we thought was kept at a reasonable price for the standard of food.
