I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. we had a wonderful stay . The food was delicious and the apartment was fantastic .We were even lucky with the weather
- quaint little hotel - nice location - friendly staff
- a bit noisy as it is an old building
The staff very helpful, cant not do enough for you,The food and service was excellent, could not fault it,will probably return again.
We have stayed here many times, the price like every thing else has increased over time,we felt the bedroom was very comfortable, however, the Décor seemed somewhat tired.
Comfortable clean room with all facilities. Good breakfast. Lovely central location Welcoming bar Friendly staff Only stayed one night but would have been very happy to stay longer
Bathroom needs some extra attention to detail when cleaning
A beautiful hotel in a very charming location. Staff were very helpful and professional. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious!
The parking situation was grim. On arrival in rye it took nearly 45 minutes to find a spot!
lovely hotel enjoyable stay
parking could be a problem
Chris, the Managing Director, tried to put things right, but the poor state of room and the cleanliness was appalling. Chris was a credit to your company, shame about the rest of it.
Cleanliness was terrible!
The location if you wanted to look round Rye was good.
Poor parking facilities Difficult to find Small double room no bath - frankly it was not worth £140/night.
Perfect location in a fantastic old town. Couldn't be better. Atic room although small very nice well equipped. Breakfast to die for just ace. Staff excellant. That's it !
Nothing really although the bath in the attic room - you need to be physically fit to get in and out and very small to use the shower, but that's it - ace hotel.
This was our third stay at the Hope and really can't fault it
Staff very friendly. Located in town so everywhere in Rye easily accessible. Breakfast was excellent.
Bed not that comfortable.
Everything, excellent location, food, cleanliness, and the staff are so nice.
Nothing, could not find fault if tried, wonderful stay.
Location, building, friendly welcome, fabulous breakfast. They went out of their way to accommodate our room and bed requests whilst very busy. All good.
The Hope and Anchor is a lovely, cosy place, great for a couple of nights getaway, it was the service of staff, in particular the manager who seems to work 24/7 yet still managed polite, friendly, helpful service with a big cheery smile.
Great location,we stayed in apartment A. Large and beautifully furnished bedroom and lounge. Super bathroom! Apartment has own patio area which we found perfect as weather was good and we were able to sit out there enjoying fish and chip supper with glass of wine! Breakfast in main hotel very good and staff helpful and friendly. Free wifi within hotel useful. Very enjoyable weekend, take your flat shoes though,as lots of cobbled streets and slopes! We loved it.
Only suggestion would be patio area of apartment really needs weeding, as it is such a lovely space. Bathroom window catch needs fixing also. But this is minor issue as lovely place to stay.
Location excellent, car parking available, good breakfast.
The hotel location is really nice with views across from the edge of the hill of Rye town, and within easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff were efficient and friendly. The restaurant was fully booked on Friday and Saturday night but I ate there on Sunday and the food in the restaurant was very high quality. I have not visited Rye since I left high school here more than 20 years ago, but I do plan to go back again and will book to stay here.
These are small items but there was no air conditioning in the rooms, and the main road was perhaps 20 metres away at the bottom of the hill The en suite toilet and shower had a large towel rack that was really hot and I did not figure out how to turn it off. The room was slightly pricey but I did choose the weekend of the start of the Rye arts festival, so I guess it was not unreasonable in price
Very comfortable, clean room and bathroom. Lots of storage and space in our room. Cosy, old fashioned, rather than swanky, sterile. Excellent breakfast and lovely staff. Well placed for the Sussex coast and surrounds as well as beautiful Rye itself. Evening meals in the restaurant were very tasty and a bar is available for guests as well. I was hoping for a ghost but sadly none seen or heard!! Parking was free with a card supplied.
I loved negotiating the tiny cobbled roads in a small car and with a Sat-nav, but some may find the location interesting!! Did not seem to be any good old-fashioned English pubs locally,in walking distance, or maybe we just couldn't find them!
We enjoyed all aspects of your hotel, in particular the food, that was very well prepared and presented.
Lovely hotel staff were always there to help without being intrusive. Food in the restaurant was excellent though we were unable to eat there on one of the evenings as they were fully booked so booking early is advisable.
Staff very friendly and efficient. Evening meal and breakfast good
Room Furnishings were a bit tired
Customer service was excellent.Location perfect.High standard of fixtures & fittings in the room.Delicious breakfast.
Room was extremely hot.
Great bath with a view! Helpful staff and a good evening meal, certainly a step above pub food.
Wonderful position, central for walking around Rye on foot. Good food, comfortable bed, staff very helpful.
Getting around Rye in a car is not easy,to get to hotel you go down a tiny cobbled lane and hope you can get a parking place.
Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food on the two evening occasions that we ate in. The special three course meal with a free bottle of wine (£30pp) was excellent. The ability to choose from a selection of wine was a big surprise as free wine is normally pre selected for the diner by the restaurant. The room was very comfortable and clean and we were able to get a relaxing night's sleep during our stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful in all matters.
The design of the wood at the end of the bed in the Crow's Nest was a trifle dangerous as it projected out and one had a tendency to bump one's thigh against the sharp edge. My wife suffered a bad bruise and I cut my thigh causing blood to stain my trousers. The staff very kindly supplied the special band aid patch.
