Staff were very nice people, couldn't do enough for you. Lovely hotel/pub, nice decor throughout. Food was excellent, nice wine too.
No dressing table in the bedroom to sit in front of to dry your hair and put your makeup on.
Friendly Staff Good Food both dinner and breakfast Location
Room a little cramped
Very nice cottage and facilities
Poor lighting in the village
The owners went put of there way to help you. We missed breakfast on the last day and they insisted on giving us free coffee and bacon sandwich
Price of the evening meal was a bit expensive but the food was very nice.
Food, Location, Friendly staff
A bit cramped
Location. Friendly and welcoming.
- very friendly staff - very cozy atmosphere - good beds - location very central - large parking at the house
- hint of wet smell on the ground level (top floor / bedrooms no complains)
Food excellent Staff very attentive and helpful.
Double Room small and over the kitchen. There was noise from the kitchen fan and the room was stuffy. This was a last minute booking and although not cheap, we know most of the rooms are better than this because we've stayed here before. Also would benefit from more tables and chairs for residents to sit and have a drink at busy times. I was very surprised to pay £4.10 for a pint of real ale!
The staff were all lovely. The room was spotless and the breakfast delicious
Staff are very friendly, accommodating, and flexible. The 'package' of hotel, restaurant and bar works seamlessly, due to hard working, cheery staff. The proximity to crowded Keswick and the northern reaches of Lake District - as well as a major route south to Ambleside - is a great advantage. Parking was never a problem.
The small room - for international travellers with a large amount of luggage - was a pain at times.
The property had a great deal of character and the food was very good.
Chefs drinking at the bar having just come off duty.
Friendly, helpful staff
Food quality not great for price
Very comfortable accommodation in wonderful surroundings. Kind and helpful staff.
Because of the understandable popularity of the venue, it's essential to book a table for evening meal well in advance.
Service, setting, food all really lovely.
Had room at the back which had very small ensuite. Also noisy as there was a boiler or something outside.
Friendly staff and service
Friendly helpful staff & atmosphere
Beds & bathroom small & cramped - we are tall!
The location was great for walking up blencathra as well as the railway line into Keswick. The staff are all polite and friendly .
The room above the kitchen is a bit noisy when the kitchen is open but otherwise a good enough room,
Good quality food friendliness of all of the staff and great location/ views
Old world charm, friendliness of staff and a good breakfast.
Most of the staff couldn't do enough to make your stay excellent. Ideal location for a lovely walk into Keswick and excellent views.
A couple of the staff could have been a bit more friendly
All of the staff were very friendly and also very helpful, the room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard!
Food was Excellent
1)Rooms were on the small side. 2) You couldn't put your drinks & meals on your room.they had to be paid separately.
For the price the room was pokey. The bar area in the evening is given over to eating so there is nowhere to sit for just a drink until after 10. Felt impersonal and very much over-priced and didn't appear to be geared up for residents.
Not much booked a superior room got placed in their cottage attached which was in great need of updating, the bathroom was a disgrace.
some good customer service - but some bad customer service,
