Owners and staff very welcoming and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast very good, especially smoked salmon and scrambled egg
There was nothing we did not like-we really couldn't fault it and we have stayed in many 5 star hotels across the World.
Every thing was great and the owners and all the staff were polite and very helpful , will go again.
Beautiful room. Very welcoming
The hospitality of Janette and Arthur was outstanding. There wasn't anything about The Horse Guards that you could be negative about. Lovely clean room, excellent food and wonderful hosts who made you feel totally at home all at a reasonable price. What more could you want.
Luxury accommodation in beautiful peaceful location but close to Tetbury. Food excellent, hosts friendly and very helpful. Everything one could wish for to make an enjoyable stay and a desire to return again on another occasion.
very friendly good fun with quality in all departments
Not sure about the fire exit think it should have a fire door
Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent Room very comfortable and clean
The hosts were open, accommodating & personable; The bar, restaurant and room were spotlessly clean; The room was spacious, beautiful and the bed really comfortable; The food portions while not cheap were not huge so we could eat decent homecooked food and not feel blobby afterwards; a plus for us on the tail of a two-week holiday. Let's all hope they receive permission to build more accommodation!
I'd prefer to phrase this section 'what you need to know': (1) open the faucet slowly in the bathroom as it is quite powerful & can give you a watersplash; (2) the rainshower is lovely, but you really need to turn it on for a good 3-4 minutes before the hot water reaches the room.
Very staff, very helpful. Lovely rooms. Clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. Excellent breakfast!
The location is quite in the middle of nowhere. Good for a private retreat, less so if you want to explore the area.
Everything really! The couple who run the place are lovely, the atmosphere of the pub is great. The food is good pub fare and the room was excellent of which the two high points are the bed and the shower. A great night at the end of a lovely weeks touring.
The wi-fi was very, very slow.
Booked for a few days to catch up with local living family. We were so impressed with EVERYTHING we wished we had stayed longer.Everyone very friendly even had a laugh with the late night locals . A terrific experience!!
Having to leave!
Lovely peaceful surroundings and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food, both for breakfast and evening meal. Will definitely return if we stay in the area again.
The room was modern in an "olde world" Cotswold hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good, there was no traffic noise. The instructions to guests about facilities in the room were clearest I have ever seen.
There was nothing to not like.
Very comfortable bed Excellent food Warm welcome Lovely quiet location
Convenient for a visit to Highgrove.Very friendly.
Dinner fair only
Quiet, away from it all, fab place, lovely rooms - all mod cons in the middle of nowhere
having to move on
From the moment we met Arthur in the bar when we arrived we were impressed by The Horse Guards! Very friendly, the food excellent and the room absolutely top class! Can't recommend the place enough! Arthur even came to the rescue with a pair of cuff links that he drove home for! Thanks very much!!
Only spent one night there and not too much time there but it was a lovely place, in an amazing location with two of the nicest owners I've ever met. Good breakfast with a good choice as well. Very disappointed I didn't get the chance to stay later and eat in the evening there.
comfy bed fantastic location very clean room great breakfast
We enjoyed our stay very much. Meal very good. We will return.
Our stay at Horse Guards was outstanding. The bedroom and faciltites were top class. The breakfast was awesome. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was a real treat. The staff were very friendly and gave us top class service.
The owners will treat you with frienldliness and courtesy and ensure that your stay will be as perfect as possible. The restaurant is pleasant and the food is excellent whilst the service is friendly and efficient.Breakfast is traditional and plentiful. Large quiet bedroom, nice bathroom/ wet room. Easy private parking. Highly recommended on all counts.
We booked this hotel based on its approximate location and the excellent review score. We were not disappointed. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the room was excellent. The food in the bar was certainly better than you might expect in a pub.
Nothing of significance.
The rooms are very good with quality furniture and fittings Separate entrance to the pub Friendly management and staff Good selection on menu
Large modern bedroom, genuine, cosy country pub, good food and excellent host and hostess. Hope to return one day. Mona & Sten Bjelke
