Reception staff really good, the bar was fab really good atmosphere will definitely be returning
Our bathroom was very tired really needs upgrading
wifi a little slow
Friendly and efficient staff. Quality of decor and furnishings. Excellent, if expensive, food.
The railway house was some distance from the main building and restaurant. Which meant taking the car in inclement weather.
The comfort...people were relaxed whoever they were. The staff were only to pleased to help whatever you needed. The breakfasts were excellent and the setting relaxed. The sitting areas were particularly inviting with large comfy leather settees.
We were in the Railway house and our bedroom was small but comfortable however the shower room was miniscule and difficult to manage. We would return to the same building but ask for a different room.
Attentive but not intrusive service.
Room a little too small!
The location is marvellous.
This is ridiculously overpriced for what it is, the food was poor and tasteless, altogether very poor value for money and uncomfortable bed. Won't stay here again.
Fantastic stay ,staff top notch and excellent food a real treat
Bar area very small and noisy not many places to sit
very helpful and attentive staff in dining room
quality of food not as expected, room superficially clean, and stay did not feel like value for money.
Wonderful place to stay in Burnham Market. I had a railway room and it was very quiet, clean and comfortable.
I loved the decor - I felt enveloped by the whole place as soon as I walked in the door. It fitted our two night break-away perfectly. It had been recommended by a friend who'd stayed there.
There was nothing I disliked but, I can see that in the future getting up spiral staircase could be a problem and there is no lift.
The ambiance of the hotel, clean stylish decor and excellent food.
We had a room at Railway cottages on the outskirts of the village, which was 5 mins away by car and 15 mins walk. When we book again will make sure we get a room at the hotel mainly for convenience and central to the villag
Lovely hotel in a great place.Burnham market has some nice shops. We received a warm welcome in them all.
The restaurant really let's the hotel down very expensive for the quality.my husbands food was Luke warm and cooked breakfast on the first morning had been left on the hot plate too long making the sausage and bacon hard. I have wanted to visit the hoste for some time and was very disappointed with the menu.
I have known and liked the bar and restaurant at the Hoste for years, but had not stayed until now. The junior suite in the courtyard block was very spacious and stylish. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good, save perhaps for slightly sub par coffee.
The waiter urged us to order side dishes, not pointing out that the same items came with the dishes ordered anyway.
The anticipation of spending a night at The Hoste with some friends from Yorkshire, including a meal in the restaurant, a pint of nelson's revenge in the bar, and the overnight stay.
Unfortunately my wife went down with a seriously bad dose of influenza on Tuesday, and spent the next 4 days in bed. The background is that we had arranged to spend the evening of the 4th in your restaurant with some friends who were spending a few days in Norfolk and staying at The Hoste. On the back of this visit, we decided to book into The Hoste so that we could get maximum enjoyment from our evening. I phoned on Tuesday morning to say that my wife was unwell, and that she was devastated that she would not be able to enjoy the visit to The Hoste that she had so much been looking forward to. I was told that it was too late to cancel our visit and receive a refund, and the gentleman at The Hoste kindly offered an alternative stay on 3 possible nights within 7 days. Unfortunately, my wife is still unwell, so we are unable to stay within the 7 day deadline.
In general the English staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Immediate offer of an upgrade at an extra cost of £25 per night, also told the full price per night of the room we were being offerd. We felt this wasn't the way we wanted to be greeted. The male receptionist seemed more like an aggressive salesman than a welcoming host. Having agreed to the upgrade the first room we were shown smelt damp an musty. A second room was ok. Sleep was poor because of light on all night immediately outside window. We found the bed uncomfortable. Restaurant staff at breakfast all from overseas with modest command of English and poor waiting skills.
Ambience and friendliness of staff
Service a little on the slow side
The location and food are exceptional. It's a great place where locals and holiday makers mix nicely in a warm relaxed environment.
The rooms were too warm as was the hotel. The service levels from the staff were inconsistent. Most were amazing but some need to realise that they need to listen to the guest rather that just go through their motions.
The room in vine house was lovely bad the staff were all very nice. I had a great facial and body treatment in the spa.
The food wasn't as good as we had been led to believe. Definitely not worth the cost. The breakfast was really not very good, menus not given, really bad rubbery eggs on both mornings, dry bacon and the aroma of burnt toast permeated the whole room.
The room was comfortable and clean.
Whilst having an evening drink a number of other guests were complaining about incorrect drinks length of time waiting for their evening dinner table. It created a bit of an atmosphere. We could not get a table for dinner. The bar area and tables in the bar were full of used glasses. There were 4 children under the age of 10 sitting on the bar stools which made the bar inaccessible.
love the railway carage, it's a bit pricey, £170, but we did enjoy it.
we don't mind waiting for the next course after the starters, but 45mins, is way to long, they need to be quicker on the sevice. Breakfast, the staff seemed all over the place, no, glasses, no creal bowls, someone needs to over look everything.
The rooms were full of character, beautifully finished and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into them. Breakfast at the main building was excellent, not only the food but also the attentive staff.
The wi-Fi in the room we had was so slow it was unusable.
This was our fourth stay at the Hoste and as always the whole experience was great.
Decor Friendly, helpful staff The spa Dog friendly Great location Good menu
The internet connection was non existent in the railway room.
The cottage was very comfortable Even though we stayed for only 1 night it was just right for our purposes (preparing for a cycle tour), and better than a B&B or hotel
