The remoteness of the hotel
Everything is superb at hunters inn, been coming for years
We like every thing about it good food staff location and room was very clean
Location and facilities are true English hunter's lodge. Friendly staff.
Twin beds were too hard and squeaky.
location hotel food
shower a bit mediocre
Location Realy a spectacular part of North Devon The Hedon Valley is some thing special Staff, Breakfast Service
Evening Menue could do with more variety evening service not as good as breakfast
The hotel and staff were all very good and the room was excellent. A good choice of real ales!
The food menu for the evening meal was poor, the choice was very limited.
Location and friendliness of staff.
Location, although the journey along the Valley roads was challenge. The hotel is surrounded by excellent walks and a fresh stream which our dog was able to swim in to cool down. The food was tasty and staff were friendly and helpful. I would like to thank the kind lady who discovered my husband and I had left our jackets in our room on checkout day and took it to Reception for us.
Our room was small and poky, the mattress was very uncomfortable and we felt the springs which made for very uncomfortable sleeping. There were a large number of dead flies lying on the floor under the window in the hall way and they remained there throughout our stay. (I do hope this has been taken care of) and there was allot of dust and cobwebs in the dining area we used. I do not therefore consider this value for money.
The location is superb for exploring exmoor. Family room was really good as actually 2 bedrooms in a suite with bathroom - often family rooms involve all in together so this was very welcome. Good meal in the evening and very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Good range of drinks in the bar.
Not a major issue, but the English breakfast really didn't need to be presented as some gourmet meal. I don't need baked beans in a separate pot, or the mushrooms and bacon stacked....... Middle of World Cup and TV in room did not work properly in the evening - the 'boys' were not impressed! quickly put right when we asked the staff, but recurring problem the next day. These are both really only minor things, which shows much was good!
Room poor, no plug near mirror for hair, tap dripped, no shower, breakfast not enough staff so very long wait, then cooked breakfast wasn't good. Also my family were told suitable for my disabled father but stairs, and no hand rail! Was extremely hard for him. I told the manager but he wasn't interested !
Very dog friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. In particular, the crispy pork salad.
Room excellent, welcome and care from staff brilliant, Food evening and breakfast v.good. Location fantastic. Loved it
A bit tatty in a few public places
The hotel was in an amazing location. The rooms were clean and tidy and the food good value. great beers too.
Externally the decor seemed a little tired but the rooms were beautifully maintained.
This is everything you could want from an English country inn: beautiful setting, excellent beer, great food and a comfortable room. Will definitely be back!
If I had one quibble it would be the lack of a "proper" shower, the arrangement being just a rubber hose on the bath taps.
secluded comfortable accommodation, the perfect place to get away from it all.
clean room dog friendly
poor vegetarian food
We paid 170 for one night two rooms and could not get enough hot water for a bath. Mentioned it to the staff and they leave it ten minutes and it should be ok. Left it 1 hour and still not enough. Not good value for money
Very nice location some of the best hiking trails in the UK. Friendly staff & great atmosphere
Selection of beers
Late breakfast time and slow service
The size of the room, the food.
Setting was brilliant, wireless good(but should have worked in room) beer kept at peak. Food tasty and well presented
Some aspects a bit "tired", staff and owners very accommodating but could do with more helpers
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent selection of beers and good food. Newly refurbished room was lovely.
